How We Earn The Compensation Plan is a 2 x 20 matrix, which for those who are not familiar with that term, it is a business formula/plan that build in multiples of two’s such as level 1 has 2 people, level 2 has 4 and level 3 has 8 and so on and so forth down 20 levels. Each of us will have our own 2x20 when we join.

7. Understanding that most of us get things clearer with a visual presentation, I am going to ask you to please grab a piece of paper and a pen.

8. On your piece of paper, I would like you to write from top to bottom: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. These will indicate the first 5 levels of the comp plan. Next, to the right of those numbers I would like you to write from top to bottom just like you did with the levels: 2, 4, 8, 16, 32. These numbers will indicate the total number of people that can be on each level in the first 5 levels of a 2x20 matrix.

On that piece of paper that I had asked you to write levels 1-5 and the corresponding number of people that can be on each level, I would like you to put to the right of the number of people x5 on level 1, x4 on level 2, x3 on level 3, x2 on level 2 and x1 on level 5. Now if we go back and look at the Comp Plan again, it now makes a lot more sense. The 5.4.3.2.1 that is circled represents the number of times you will be paid for an upgrade.
