Definition What is a Descriptive Text? Descriptive text is a type of text that describes a person, place, object, or event in detail.

Purpose The main purpose of descriptive text is to describe and reveal a particular person, place, or thing in a vivid way, making the reader or listener feel as if they are experiencing it themselves.

Structure Identification: Introducing the subject.(describe in general) Description: Describing the features, characteristics, or parts of the subject.

Language features Use of adjectives (e.g., beautiful, large, tiny) Use of specific nouns (e.g., Eiffel Tower, The Sahara Desert) Use of action verbs (e.g., runs, flies) Use of figurative language (e.g., similes, metaphors) Use of pronouns

Key Features of Descriptive Text Adjectives: These are used to give more information about the noun (e.g., "beautiful," "gigantic," "smooth").
