ANALYSIS AND DESIGN OF (G+2) COMBINED COURT BUILDING

The project G+2 court building has been designed at Thiruvallur ( near collector office).The project is designed as per conditions in handbook of Public Work Department (PWD). The principle objective of this project is to analyze and design a combined court building (G+2) using STAAD Pro. The design involves the calculation of loads manually and analyzing the whole structure by STAAD Pro. The design methods used in STAAD Pro is Limit State Design confirming to Indian Standard Code of practice. The structure was subjected to self weight and live load under the load case details of STAAD Pro. The materials were specified and the sections of the beam and column members were assigned. The supports at the base of the structure were also specified as fixed. The codes of practice to be followed were also specified for design purpose with other important details. Then STAAD Pro was used to analyze the structure and design the member. In the post-processing mode , after completion of the design, we can work on the structure and study the bending moment and shear force values with the generated diagrams. We may also check the deflection of various members under the given load combinations. The design of building is dependent upon the minimum requirements as it is prescribed in the Indian Standards codes. The minimum requirements provided to the structural safety of buildings are being covered by way of laying down minimum design loads which has to be assumed for dead loads, imposed load and other external loads, the structure would be required to bear. Strict conformity to loading standards recommended in this code. It , is hoped, that it will ensure the structural safety of the buildings which are designed. Structural elements were normally designed by limit state method. ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION A court is a type of commercial building. A court is a tribunal often as a government institution, with the authority to adjudicate legal disputes  between parties and carry out the administration of justice in civil, criminal, and administrative matters in accordance with the rule of law . Court is a body of people presided over by a judge, judges, or magistrate, and acting as a tribunal in civil and criminal cases . Thiruvallur is the suburb city of chennai and the area of thiruvallur district is 3423 sq. km. According to 2011 census thiruvallur had a population of 37,28,104 and population growth is 33.34%. The percentage of case growth rate is 18.9%. A site should be selected where the judicial branch facilities are siting. Expansion capability for parking is provided. In this combined court building 7 courts- principal district court, additional district court, chief judicial magistrate court. The ground floor has bank extension counter, post office extension counter, record room, property room, litigant waiting hall, judicial magistrate court, additional district court, public prosecutor bar and assistant public prosecutor and also the basic facilities are provided.

OBJECTIVE The main objective of the projective is to : To plan a three floor commercial building for combined court. To plan , analysis and design a combined court building using software ‘ s like AUTO CAD , STAAD PRO – structural analysis. To analyse the various structural members, based on analysis of structural members designed to bear maximum load. To design the structures as per Indian Standard Code . SCOPE The proposed project comprises the construction of a purpose-built Commonwealth Law Courts Building in Thiruvallurto provide accommodation for the High Court, Federal Court, Family Court and the Federal Magistrates Service. To reduce the number of pending cases . The Thiruvallur district consist of nine taluks . A single combined court building is insufficient to deal cases for nine Taluks so additional court is required. Analysis and design concept and code provision.

CONCLUSION In this project , analyzing and designing of a ( G + 2) combined court building. We both of our team have learnt to plan a building with referring to the standard code books. This court building project has made us to learn drawing and drafting the building plans using Auto Cadd software. In this court building project we learnt to create models by giving nodes and property to the structural elements using STAAD Pro software and also we learnt to the same structure with corresponding loads as given in IS 875 using analysis. This project is very useful in making us learn the design by referring to IS 456: 2000 for each slab, column and beam. The important thing that we referred a lots of designing and we are very much satisfied with exposing to field of design.
