ANBESSA city bus enterprise was first established in 1935 E.C with five TIRENTA quarto trucks sized from the Italian army . There are more than 1000 city buses under the enterprise. The enterprise operates 93 routes in and around Addis Ababa. ANBESSA CITY BUS ENTERPRISE

Used to have the capacity of maintaining and inspecting over 450 busses. Each buses get inspected every two weeks. Currently gives preventive & breakdown maintenance. Have a fully operating machine shop for manufacturing spare parts. Y eka depot

The general objective of the project is to design air compressor and air filter cleanser machine. Design for the minimum cost and meet the demand with the resource in hand. General objective

An air compressor is a pneumatic device which is used to produce and store pressurized air. The air compressor solves the problem with the same mechanism like the one available in the market, and is designed using car parts. Introduction to air compressor

The air compressor mainly consists of five major parts, Ac motor AC compressor A ir tank Air gage and hoses Working principle

The Ac motor is driven by an electric source from power supply. The Ac motor drives the air compressor using belt. The piston inside the compressor starts to compress air The compressed air leaving the compressor passes through hoses and is stored in the tanker.

Assumptions: Perfectly reversible adiabatic process for the AC compressor. Designed for suction pressure of 124kpas and discharge pressure of 127.5kpas The brake horse power is calculated to be 1.5 hp Design procedure

The air receiver must in general be sized according to: The variation in the consumption demand The compressor size Assuming the minimum and maximum pressure of the tank as P 2 =4bar P 1 =2bar We calculated the tank to be 6 gallon / 0.8ft^3

From the AC compressor brake horse power we designed parameters of the motor. Starting from 1.5hp desired output we computed the required specifications. The input power turned out to be 1.27KW We considered choosing partially closed slot due to Better mechanical strength. Good power factor. Low loss.

The rotor conductors are arranged such that there should be some angle between stator conductors in order to avoid cogging. In order to avoid crawling the rotor slots does not exceed the number of stator slot by 15 to 30%.

The air cleaner cleanser machine is used to clean dust from the air cleaner using pressurized air. The pressurized air is supplied from the compressor. A ir cleaner cleanser

The machine consists of ac motor supporting frame Rotating plate housing Dust outlet Working principle

The housing mounted on the frame is used for covering the rotating air cleaner. The air cleaner is mounted on the rotating plate which is coupled with the motor. The air cleaner receives a pressurized air from the inside while rotating, from the nozzles. The dust removed from the air cleaner is discharged through the outlet duct.

We select the material of law carbon steel 1020 For the housing and seal because; It has strong, hard, high resistance of fatigue. Soft, outstanding ductility and toughens Wieldable and machine able Less expensive to produce Design procedures

The material selected for the support component is mild steel We computed hoop and longitudinal stress analysis to achieve better material selection. we chose a motor with a specification of rated horse power of 0.5hp Output power of 0.37KW Rotor speed of 500

This project aims to increase productivity to increase the life span of air filter to perform the required task with a short period of time and Cost minimization Conclusion

The entire body of the air compressor is constructed using discarded car parts which contribute for higher cost minimization
