Design of Button – shaped Antenna for Wireless Body Network Guide by: Dr. D. HELENA MARGARET Members: SANTHOSH SIVAKUMAR KRISHNA KANTH

Project Description This project focuses on designing a compact, dual-band button-shaped antenna for wearable applications. The antenna operates at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz for Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) communication. It is designed to resemble a jeans button, enabling easy integration into clothing for wireless body area networks (WBAN).

Problem Statement Wearable devices require compact and efficient antennas that can operate reliably near the human body without compromising performance. This project addresses this need by designing a dual-band button antenna suitable for wireless body area networks .

Antenna Structure from Reference

Implementation Plan Phase 1: Literature survey & concept finalization Phase 2: HFSS or CST setup and model design Phase 3: Simulation and parameter tuning Phase 4: Prototype fabrication (if feasible)

Expected Results The antenna should resonate efficiently at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz , suitable for WLAN and WBAN applications. Return Loss (S11) is expected to be below -10 dB at both bands, indicating good impedance matching. The radiation pattern should support both on-body (omnidirectional) and off-body (broadside) communication modes. The design should show acceptable gain and bandwidth for wireless applications. The antenna's compact button-like structure should enable seamless integration into wearable fabrics . The SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) analysis will be performed during simulation to evaluate the safety of the button antenna when placed on the human body for wearable applications
