●What is Smart home
○Use of internet connected devices to monitor and
manage appliances in home
●Need of Wireless Vision Sensor Network in Smart
home
○For utilizing video based information processing in a
smart home

Wireless Vision Sensor Network (WVSN)
●A network of spatially distributed smart
camera devices capable of processing, sending
and capturing info as video
●Consists of 3 main parts
○Sensor node (SN)
○Aggregation node (AN)
○Base station (BS)

1.Foreground Segmentation : Making a background modeling and the subtract it
from the frame to obtain the foreground.

2. Object Labeling
●Once the binary foreground mask is obtained, the connected
pixels are labeled
●Object labeling take large amount of time to process data

3. Object Tracking: it is performed based on the
object labeling data.
●A colour distribution model is formed
based on colour feature and used for
tracking
●If model exists already then only tracking is
performed otherwise new model is
created.

4. Binary Data Compression
Binary data compression is used for effectively
compress and transmit data
Skip-line method is used for the compression
Some rows of foreground object have high similarity
these are marked skip-line and then compressed

Future Scope
●Wireless Vision Sensor Network can be implement in Shopping mall and traffic
system
○Consume lesser power
○The surveillance can be automated, reducing the need of human to
constantly monitor via multiple monitors
●This system can be extended further to include other Smart home applications
