The coastal environment is often considered to include anything landward of the shoreface , the water depth at which incoming waves begin to interact with the seafloor. The focus of this section of the geological monitoring website is on the transitional zone between land water.

4. What are the Causes of Destruction of Coastal Resources?

5.  Four Different Anthropogenic Threats Overfishing and overexploitation Marine pollution Coastal development, 4. Sedimentation and destructive fishing practices (Burke, Selig, Spalding).

6. Overfishing i s a form of overexploitation in which fish stocks are depleted to unacceptable levels, regardless of water body size. Resources depletion, low biological growth rates, and critically low biomass levels.

7. Marine pollution -occurs when harmful, or potentially harmful, effects result from the entry into the ocean of chemicals,particles , industrial, agricultural and residentialwaste , noise, or the spread of invasive organisms

8. Coastal development - is a broad category which includes an array of human activities including beachfront construction of homes, hotels, restaurants, and roads

9.   Increased nutrients in coastal waters from agricultural fertilizers, forest burning and sewage discharge increase algal growth and decrease water clarity. This impedes coral growth and, in some cases causes algae to overgrow corals previously present. The destructive fishing is the one that uses cyanide fishing Sedimentation and destructive fishing practices

Reducing the amount of non organic fertilizers applied to your lawn or farm instead use biodegradable products as an organic fertilizer. Viewing but not touching or collecting live coral.
