The presentation "Determination of the Sentinel Lymph Node in Breast Carcinoma: Indications and Limits" explores the role of sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) in breast cancer management. It evaluates the technique's diagnostic accuracy, advantages over axillary lymph node dissection (ALND), and its potential integration into public healthcare. A case study of a 41-year-old patient with infiltrative breast carcinoma (G3 NST) is analyzed, where sectorectomy with SLNB was performed using the Europrobe 3.2 system. The study highlights the benefits of SLNB in reducing surgical morbidity while acknowledging limitations such as false-positive results requiring further surgical interventions.

Background
Aim
To evaluate the importance and value of the
sentinel lymph node detection in breast carcinoma
in order to introduce the technique in a public
health system.
Materials and methods
We present
41 year old female patient
enrolled in the 1
st
Surgical Clinic in Tirgu Mures
Emergency County Hospital
diagnosed with breast carcinoma
Infiltrative breast carcinoma
G3 NST
Materials and methods
The patient undergoes surgical
intervention
Sectorectomy with the
excision of the sentinel
lymph node
europrobe 3.2 system
Results
Results of the sentinel lymph node are negative
Only adipose and normal breast tissue are
detected at the histopathological
examination
negative
Conclusion - Is it necessary?
The determination of the sentinel lymph nodule in breast
carcinoma is useful in order to avoid axillary lymph node
dissection the procedure has limitations and drawbacks given by
false positive results that will lead to further surgical interventions
