DEVELOPMENT OF e-COMIC STRIPS IN SOLVING QUADRATIC EQUATION Presented by: Noli C. Caliso EDUC206
Developing e-Comic Strips is a strategy that can develop positive outlook, reduces tension, promotes higher-order thinking skills , as well develops literacy and capability in ICT. In this study, it specifically focuses on the development of the material and the results of its implementation. It further applies to any other specific topic in mathematics and for any other fields as well. This study makes use of the quantitative and qualitative research design. It is quantitative for it will be collecting numerical data from the pre-test and posttest and qualitative for it will be assessed by the respondents and people who are expert in this topic. Their scores and perceptions are necessary for the development of the material to help learners understand concepts in mathematics and develop necessary skills pertaining to it. Abstract
MATH IS ENEVITABLE - Mathematics is one of the unavoidable subjects in the academic curriculum. MATH IS PERCIEVED AS DIFFICULT – possible reasons are : • Students are not familiar with the syntax of algebra; • Students are confused over the different uses of letters in algebra; • Students find algebraic procedures too abstract. • Students have developed negative perception on mathematics. SKILLS AND UNDERSTANDING IS NECESSARY A CERTAIN STRATEGY IS MADE – acquiring skills and understanding through the e-comic strips. Background of the Study
1. The development of e-Comic Strips for Solving quadratic equations; 2. The assessment of the e-Comic Strips by the pre-service and in-service teachers using the e-Comic rubric with respect to: Content validity Text format Desirability Applicability Adaptability Objectives
3. The researcher also sought to answer the following questions. How was the e-Comic Strips developed? What are the perceptions of the respondents about the e-Comic Strips? What is the readability level of the e-Comic Strips? Objectives
1. Storyboarding – preparing the dialogues. 2. Drafting the characters for the dialogues. (characters are inanimate object) 3. Coloring the characters. 4. Evaluation 5. Revision Steps in Designing the e-comic strips
