Inclusive Education Inclusive Education (IE) is a new approach towards educating the children with disability and learning difficulties with that of normal ones within the same roof.

Inclusive School An inclusive school is a place where everyone belongs, is accepted, supports and is supported by his or her peers and other members of the school community.

Concept of Inclusive Education Inclusive Education means that all students attempt and are welcomed by their schools, regular classes in age appropriate and supported to learn, contribute and participate in all aspects of the school life.

Difference between Diversity, Disability and Inclusion Part 2 Module 1

Diversity विविधता Diversity can be conceptualized in different ways, with respect to our classroom, we think about diversity as understanding that each student brings unique experiences, strengths, and ideas to our classroom.

These differences can be along dimensions of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, nationality, socioeconomic status, age, ability, religious or political beliefs, or other different ideologies. Diversity is the exploration and incorporation of these differences to enrich learning and in our classroom.

Diversity Everyone is different. People who are diverse in terms of nationality, culture, age, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, academic or career background and lifestyle represent a variety of values and ways of thinking. Inclusion is an collaborative, supportive and respectful environment that increases the participation and contribution of all the students.

Definition of Inclusion Miller and Katz (2002) defined inclusion as: ‘a sense of belonging: feeling respected, valued for who you are; feeling a level of supportive energy and commitment from other so that you can do your best’.

Inclusion

Inclusion Inclusion is visualized as a universal human right. The aim of inclusion is to embrace all people irrespective of race, gender, disability, medical or other need. Giving equal access and opportunities and getting rid of discrimination and intolerance (removal of barriers).

It affects all aspects of public life. Inclusive design focuses on eradicating barriers that create undue effort and separation. It enables everyone to participate equally, confidently and independently in everyday activities.

Difference between Disability may be cognitive, developmental, intellectual, mental, physical and sensory based on ethnicity, race, socio-economic status, gender, exceptionalities, language, religion sexual orientation and geographical area. Inclusion is an organisational effort in which different groups or individuals having different backgrounds are accepted, welcomed and equally treated. It allows for the exploration of these differences in a safe, positive and nurturing environment. It makes person unsafe, and dependent on others and is not helpful for development. Feeling level of supportive energy and commitment from others . Diversity shows everyone is different and individual. Everyone is treated according to his disability. Diversity is a sense of feeling proud to be of his own diversity that may his language, religion, culture, place etc. Disability is a sense of Exclusion. Inclusion is a sense of belonging. In the diversity person feels proud of own diversity. Feeling that we are different from others, we are not same as other normal. Feeling respected, valued for who you are. This may motivate him as he is from some religion, place and language. It substantially affects a person’s life activities and may be present from birth or occur during a person’s lifetime. Inclusion is a process where one is made to feel a part of society and this affects positively.
