Special Education
•Specialeducation,alsocalledspecialneedseducation,
theeducationofchildrenwhodiffersocially,mentally,or
physicallyfromtheaveragetosuchanextentthattheyrequire
modificationsofmainstreamschoolpractices.
•Specialeducationisspeciallydesignedtoensurethatstudents
withdisabilitiesareprovidedwithaneducationalenvironment
thatallowsthemtobeeducatedeffectively.Disabilitiesthat
qualifyforspecialeducationincludephysicaldisabilities,suchas
deafnessorblindness;mentaldisabilities,suchasDown's
syndrome(MR)andautism;medicalconditions,suchasoxygen
dependenceortraumaticbraininjury;learningdeficits(
LD),likedyslexia;andbehavioraldisorders,suchasattention
deficithyperactivitydisorder(ADHD)andconductdisorders.

Integrated Education
•Integratededucationfacilitatesthelearningofthe
disabledchildrenwithspecializedserviceinmainstream
schoolswhenwerethinkaboutthespecialeducation,
thegiftedandtheotherexceptionalchildrenget
educationthroughspecialprogrammearranged.These
childrenremainisolatedfromthenormalclassroom
student.
•Extrasupportsmaybeimplementedtohelpthemadapt
totheregularcurriculum,andsometimesseparateand
specialeducationprogramsareinplacewithinthe
classroomorthroughpull-outservices.Intheory,
integrationisapositiveapproachthatseekstohelp
learnerswithdisabilitiesbepartofthelargergroupof
learners.

Inclusive Education
•Inclusiveeducationmeansthatalllearnersattendandare
welcomedbytheirneighborhoodmainstreamschoolsin
age-appropriate,regularclassesandaresupportedtolearn,
contributeandparticipateinallaspectsofthelifeofthe
school.
•Inclusive education –also called inclusion –is education
that includes everyone, withnon-disabled and Disabled
children (including those with “special educational needs”)
learning together in mainstream schools, colleges and
universities.
