What is your dream house?
HOUSE - a building in which a family lives. HOME - one's place of residence. DWELLING - a shelter (such as a house) in which people live.
When you want to talk about the place or the building itself, use house : My house is the blue one on Main Street. I own a house in Florida. He wants to buy a house next year. There are only three houses on her street. Their house was damaged during the storm.
Use home when you want to talk about the familiar place a person or family lives: He welcomed the visitors into his home with open arms. The couple purchased insurance for their new home . We were thrilled to finally have a home of our own. the people living in a house: They have a happy home . or the place someone lived as a child: She stays at her family's home for the holidays every year.
Types of Houses
Detached house The building does not share walls with other houses .
Semi-d etached house It is a single-family duplex dwelling that shares one common wall with its neighbour.
Terraced house Terraced homes share both side walls with neighbouring properties. It is built as part of a continuous row in a uniform style.
Block of flats It is a a large building that has several or many apartments.
Cottage It is a small house, usually in the countryside.
Farmhouse It is the main house on a farm.
Camper Van It is a van that has been converted so you can sleep in it, cook in it, and drive in it.
Villa It is a fairly large house, especially one that is used for holidays in Mediterranean countries.
Mansion It is a very big and usually expensive house.
