Cond… Governance Governance is a concept that encompasses the state institutional arrangements, decision making process, implementation capacity and the relationship between government officials and the public. e-Governance The “e’’ in e-Governance stands for ‘electronic’. e-Governance can be characterised as the use of ICT to enhance the governments ability to meet society needs to provide government services, to share information, to transact, to incorporate existing services and Information portals.
Origin e-governance originated in India during the 1970 . Initial steps taken: The establishment of the Department of Electronics in 1970 . National Informatics Centre established in 1977 . The main thrust for e-governance was provided by the launching of NICNET in 1987 .
Objectives of e-Governance
Domains of e-Governance e-Governance facilitated by the creative use of ICT has the ability to transform relations with citizens, businesses, and various arms of government. Heeks (2001) identified three main domains of e-Government.

National e-Governance Plan in Agriculture NeGPA aims to achieve rapid development in India through use of information & Communication Technology for timely access to agriculture related information for the farmers. As a part of NeGPA initiative, the department has developed one stop window farmers portal ( www.farmer.gov.in ) for spreading of information on various agriculture related. mkisan portal ( www.mkisan.gov.in ) Various mobile applications including kisan suvidha have also been develop to facilitate spreading of information to farmers on the critical parameters.
