2. Altruistic Dimension Extension is aimed at helping the farmers/its clients . Extension as a concept believes in being philanthropic and altruistic . NOT Sympathy but HAVE Empathy. Especially when allocating scare resources

3. Educational Dimension Extension Education is non – formal in nature Aims in bringing desirable changes in knowledge, skill and attitude of farmers towards scientific and profitable farming Extension agents should have in-depth knowledge on “how adult learn?” and “teaching methods / aids used”.

4. Communication Dimension Extension is a communication intervention. Rapport building is a key feature in effective communication. The extension agent should be familiar about elements of communication process. Successful extension agent will be a good communicator who can exchange ideas , facts feelings among farmers so that commonness can be established among them about the issue under discussion .

5. Behavioural Dimension Extension is aimed at inducing desirable behavioral changes among farmers Extension agents therefore should be able to draw strategies including available skills and resources consistent and supportive of the behavioral objectives . They should also be knowledgeable about socio-psychological processes that may affect client behavior

6. Technology Dimension “Transfer of technology” to its clients is the important aspect of Extension Education. Hence, Extension agent should be able to help identify appropriate/relevant technology to its clients. Extension practitioners/personnel therefore must be highly trained or skilled in diagnosing technical problems of clients.

7. Research Dimension Extension aims at linking research with farmers. Effective feedback mechanisms must be set in place to facilitate the establishment of strong linkages between the researchers/scientists and the farmers/clients Farmer Extension agent Researcher FEEDBACK FEEDBACK

8. Economic Dimension Extension is aimed at increased income through increased production and productivity. Extension practitioners/personnel therefore must have the technical skills to be able to teach and guide the farmers/clients. SUSTAINABLE LIVELIHOOD
