Direct Current (D.C)
Introduction Introduction
Direct Current It is the current which always flows in one direction. It is also called continuous or unidirectional current. It is represented by (D.C). This type of current is produced by cell, battery, D.C. Generator, D.C. Rectifier etc. It is used for charging the battery, electroplating work etc.
What is Direct Current
The electric current whose value and direction remain fixed is called Direct current (D.C.). DC current is generated from sources such as batteries, solar panels and fuel cells. These sources generate a potential difference that causes electrons to flow in one direction through a conductor. In direct current, electrons always flow from the negative end of the battery to the positive end of the battery, creating a constant current.
In which direction does direct current flow? Which Way Does DC Flow?
Conventional current always flows from the positive terminal of the battery to the negative terminal of the battery. However, the actual DC current always flows from the negative terminal of the battery to the positive terminal of the battery.
Even though electrons flow from the negative (-) end of the battery to the positive (+) end of the battery, current direction is represented as flowing from positive (+) to negative (-). Because before the discovery of electrons and protons, Benjamin Franklin observed that something was moving through electrical wires. He does not know what is going on between the stars. Because electron and proton were not discovered till that time. That's why he called these moving objects as charges.
We know that electric current means flow of charge. According to Benjamin Franklin, electric current flows from positive to negative. However, after the discovery of electrons, scientists realized that the actual electric current was carried by electrons.
So in fact, the direction of current was from negative (-) to positive (+). But we are still following the conventional current direction. That is, the electric current flows from positive (+) to negative (-).

Generate Direct Current
Cell or Battery Systems
Cell or battery is one of the oldest and earliest methods of generating current, in this method two dissimilar metal rods (called electrodes or elements) are immersed in a liquid called electrolyte when these electrodes are connected by wires. When added by a chemical reaction takes place inside the electrolyte. In this way, a potential difference is generated between the two electrodes, due to which current starts flowing in the connected wires of the external circuit.
This device is called a cell and a combination of two or more cells is called a battery. The rod from which the current leaves the cell and goes to the external circuit is called the positive plate and the plate from which the current enters the cell is called the negative plate.dc
