What is disability Any condition of the body or mind (impairment) that makes it more difficult for the person with the condition to do certain activites ( activity limitation) and interact with the world around them ( participation restriction ).

Disability Competency It’s the ability to provide person-centered and appropriate treatment ,services , supports and related accommodations to individuals with disabilities while ensuring that individuals goals ,values ,interests and preferences inform the design and delivery of care. Simply: overall care of the patients with disabilities while maintaining the rights of the patients.

CRPD United nations convention on the rights of persons with disabilities. The convention follows decades of work by united nations to change attitudes & approaches to persons with disabilities. It takes into account change in mindset of viewing persons with disabilities as “OBJECTS” to “SUBJECTS” with human rights.
Objective Demonstrate a non discriminatory behavior towards patients or care givers with disabilities Have an understanding of accessible healthcare settings for patients with disabilities including the universal design to ensure accessibility.
See ourselves… When we have a problem we expect others to be, Kind, considerate , soft, understanding,……and all But do we do the same towards others especially with a person with disability??
