CONTENTS 01 02 Adverse effects of resource depletion on society Measures to mitigate

Since we already know the importance of biodiversity as a source of different biological resources let’s proceed to the negative effects of resource depletion.

Biodiversity refers to the variety found in biota form genetic make-up of plants and animals to cultural diversity. Sudden and gradual changes to biodiversity can have severe and unpradictable effects on the health of all living things, including people.

Impact of Biochemistry to Human Health Biodiversity loss can have significant direct human health impacts if ecosystem services are no longer adéquate to meet social needs. Indirectly, changes in ecosystem services affect livelihoods, income, local migration, and on occasion, may even cause political conflict.

Health Consequences of Biodiversity These are loss and change. Biodiversity changes affect ecosystem functioning and significant disruptions of ecosystems can result in life sustaining ecosystem goods and services

Measures to Mitigate Resource Depletion

Measures to Mitigate Resource Depletion: Sustainable Practices: Adopting sustainable agriculture, forestry, and fishing practices to ensure resources are not over-exploited. Renewable Energy: Investing in renewable energy sources like solar, wind, and hydro power reduces dependence on fossil fuels. Recycling and Reuse: Promoting recycling and the reuse of materials can significantly cut down the demand for new resources. Conservation Efforts: Protecting natural habitats and endangered species can help maintain biodiversity and ecological balance.
