2. Meaning of discussion method This method has been used in the teaching learning process since times immemorical.it was widely used at the famouse nalanda university. The greek sholors in their walk used famous to disscuss various problems and issues with their discriples. Discussion is very important in stimulating mental activity developing Flueing and ease in expression clarify of ideas in thinking and training in the presentation of one ideas and facts an exchange of ideals and opinions offers valuable training to students in reflective thinking

3. Discussion may be used for the following purposes For planning new work For making discussion concerning future work For sharing information For obtaining and gaining respect for various points of veiw For classififying ideas For inspiring intrest For evaluating progress

4. Essential parts of discussion The leader – the teacher The group – the student The problem or the topic The content – body of knowledge Evalution – change in ideals attitudes etc…….. Organisation of discussion:- Instruction and introducing a topic or a problem by the teacher by giving poins or explanations to serve as the basics of discussions Callingh upon a pupil by the teacher to gives facts.describe a scence or situation explain an incident event or happening for getting the discussion started

Merits of discussion It helps in clarifying issues It helps children in crystallising their thinking It helps students in discovering what they do not know and what they have overlooked It engenders more reflection it is farther from rote learning It represent a type of pooled knowledge ideas and feelings of several persons It develops team spirit It engenders toleration of views which are at variance

Limitations of discussion It is not suitable in all topics It is likely to be dominated by a few students It is likely to go track It may lead to unpleasant feelings It may create emotional tensions It may innovle uncessary arguments directing group Discussion Explanations where needed should be provided

Students learn from discussions Being more fully engaged Helping students retain and remember informations Confirmations of what students had ready learned Providing clarification of prior learn Deepening students understanding discussion are more than conversations or dailogues. We don'ts have to rely on mgnifical chemistry arising from our students to engage in a discussion instead we can carefully prepare ourselve and our students for a succeful discuussion
