INTRODUCTION Modernizes transformer monitoring using GSM technology . Integrates microcontrollers and sensors for real-time data monitoring . Monitors key parameters including Current, voltage , oil level, temperature, and earth current . Quickly detects faults, allowing fast response through GSM network . Enhances reliability and safety of power distribution networks. 3
OBJECTIVES Develop a cost-effective solution for remote monitoring of distribution transformer. Utilizing GSM technology to minimize infrastructure costs . Implementing real-time monitoring to enable timely maintenance actions and prevent premature failure of transformers, enhancing service reliability 4
TRANSFORMER FAULTS Over load The load current in excess of the transformer name-plate rating decreases the insulation life span Over Temperature Overvoltage and overcurrent lead to increased oil temperature, resulting in insulation failure of transformer windings . Early detection essential to prevent overheating-related failures. Earth Fault An Earth Fault in a Distribution transformer happens when one of its windings accidentally connects to the transformer's metallic tank or grounding system. Oil level fault Decreasing oil levels negatively impact transformer insulation . Early detection is essential to prevent damage and ensure proper functioning of the transformer. 5
