2. Introduction District is the basic administrative unit in India. Headed by the District Collector or District Magistrate (DM). Acts as a link between the state government and local administration. Ensures law and order, revenue collection, and development activities.

3. Structure of District Administration District Magistrate(DM) / Collector Head of district. Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) Heads of sub-divisions. Tehsildars Head of tehsils/talukas. Block Development Officers (BDOs) Oversee rural development. Superintendent of Police (SP) Law enforcement. Other Officers Health, Education, Agriculture, etc.

4. Role of District Magistrate Maintains law and order. Supervises elections. Disaster management. Coordination between various departments. Revenue collection and land records. Oversees development programs.
