Problems to solve: Building a DP World’s Futures Index Emissions Reporting for Logistics Logistics Tracker Port Automation, Hub Efficiency Tracker & Training Module Container Tracker
Building DP World future index
DP World index: We have seen the importance of derivatives concepts like Futures in the areas of Commodities, Currencies and Equities. So, why not for Containers , where spot rates, are challenged on a daily basis and across different trade lines? Or Breakbulk, where there’s not much reference in terms of rates. This application will help DP World build an internal index of futures which can be used by Clients, as well as other organizations who can take a membership in the DPW Exchange, and use this to negotiate and build contracts with Cargo owners/ Freight Forwarders/ Shippers. The value given to the client would be really high and he can make savings, while DP World would be able to enjoy margins, with DP World and its logistics facilities being the most sought after, given the rates factor and the transparency.
Emissions Reporting for Logistics
Emission reporting for logistics Smart monitoring of DP World port equipment, vessels to monitor emissions by tracking parameters like water, air, temperature, etc. and predict the emissions and efficiency in terms of Carbonization with prescriptive analytics by ocean line, vessel, port, berth, c rane, truck & trucker, operators and equipment and form an operational plan that tunes in well with the schedules. This can be followed in Ports, Warehouses, Inland terminals, Freight Stations & Silos, or any other operating hub. This would also tie in well with the reporting requirements for Ocean Emissions and specific modules for the same can be built.
Logistics Tracker
Logistics tracker Automation of Logistics Requests and cargo tracking end-to-end, with invoicing capabilities including OCR, and translation capabilities. Logistics involves copious amounts of documents- Sea cargo Manifest, Commercial and Proforma invoices, Packing Lists, Warranty documents, lifting certificates, technical documents, customs documents and ISF, Documents on Codes, tariffs etc. & Certificate of Origin, besides the possibility of them being in a language different from English. This needs a well-rounded system that builds, captures, tracks & records documents after each process by project/ customer/ by date and by operation/ by vessel type, with some degrees of customization for each hub in DP World, adding some local requirements. There should also be chat support, and it can be tied into our own indices for logistics quotes etc.
Port Automation, Hub Efficiency Tracker & Training Module
Port Automation, Hub Efficiency Artificial Intelligence optimizes port operations not only via automation but also by leveraging real-time data. For example, data is collected and gathered from various sources to estimate the waiting time of equipment and conduct just-in-time scheduling for trucks entering, off-loading, stacking, etc., Use of Video Analytics and Machine Learning, to understand the safe practices and track the various stakeholders in the system: Truck & Crane Operators, Banksmen, Stewards, Ship Owners etc. educate them on best practices and safe practices, including stowage of containers, general work, lifting and L&D means. This could also be used to monitor efficiencies at each port/ berth, container stations etc.
Container Tracker
Container tracker The world is still grappling with a shortage of containers. While technologies like Barcode Reading & RFID can help, the use of IoT, plus ML should be able to do a container wise analysis including capturing the bill of lading details and give us an idea about Loadability/ Load in the container (given that we now have surcharges/ extra charges, the more the load), the stacking algorithm onboard as a function of the port call, safety (loads of containers have fell victim to the sea) & ship movement dynamics (capturing the accelerations at the point and build a predictive database), tracking its movement across the voyage & thereby accounting for information on weather, route & port congestions, time taken through various modes, forces felt at various lifting locations for safer handling etc. and help optimize loading, scheduling and handling of containers.
