1. DRAWING INSTRUMENTS AND TOOLS

2. DRAWING TABLE A single piece of equipment which a draftsman uses most of his time. This is a special type of table with an adjustable top that can tilted to a desired position or an angle.

3. DRAWING BOARD Optional equipment where the drawing paper is fastened. It is generally made up of soft, pine wood with cleats of hardwood. This board is placed in a table while the draftsman is working.

4. T-SQUARE or TEE SQUARE Is drawing tool used to draw horizontal line and as a guide or support of the triangles when drawing incline lines and vertical lines. It is made of wood, plastic or the combination of both.

5. TRIANGLES It can be used to create vertical lines and it is made of celluloid. - 45x90 degrees triangle -30x60 degrees triangle

6. COMPASS It is used to draw large arcs and circles in pencil.

7. DIVIDER a measuring compass, especially one with a screw for making fine adjustments.

8. PROTRACTOR It is a tool used to measure or lay out an angle or an arc. Its shape is circular or semi-circular. It is made of celluloid or metal.

9. TRIANGULAR SCALE Is a ruler that has a 3-lobed cross-section with 6 different types of scales on the edges  It is used for measuring and preparing scale drawings such as blueprints and maps.

10. ERASING SHIELD It is generally made of a thin sheet of metal of stainless or alloyed aluminum. It is necessary when erasing inked or penciled lines, blots, slurs.

11. DRAWING PENCIL It use for drawing straight and curved lines either freehand and mechanical. Drawing pencils have various grades of hardness or softness.

12. DRAWING PENS Are generally used for lettering and drawing lines.

13. PENCIL SHARPENER -it has varied size slots into which different sizes of pencils can be inserted. SANDPAPER PAD - The pad helps make the pencil point conical and long without breaking it.

14. DRAFTSMAN TAPE -This type of tape does not ruin the drawing paper when it is detached from the paper. RUBBER ERASER - It is used to erase the unwanted marks on the paper

15. REMINDERS ON THE USE OF THE DRAWING INSTRUMENTS Don’t use the head of the T-square as hammer. Don’t put oil on joints of the compass or divider. Don’t sharpen the pencil over the drawing board. Never fill up pen over the drawing board Always clean the instruments and drawing table before beginning your work. Don’t fold the drawing paper or tracing paper Don’t use the edge of the T-square as guide in the cutting edge of the paper. Always clean your drawing instruments after using it.
