Urinary tract infection A urinary tract infection [UTI] is an infection in any part in urinary system The most common couse of UTI is bacteria Women are greater risk of developing UTI then men TYPES OF URINARY TRACT INFECTION Urethritis \infection of urethra Cystitis \infection of bladder pyelonephritis \ infection of kidneys Vaginitis \infection of vagina

Drugs used urinary tract infection Sulfamethoxazole Fosfomycin Nitrofurantion Cephalexin ceftriaxone

Fosfomycin [is used to treat blader Infection Nitrofurantoin is used to treat UTI include cystitis and kidney infection when you take nitrofurantoin ;your body quickly filters it out of your blood and into your pee Cephalexin [is used to treat cystitis \lower UTI [ complicater or uncomplicated] Ceftriaxone [is used to treat severe UTI ,[ High fever chills hypotension

How long do I NEED TO TAKE ANTIBIOTICS TO TREAT A UTI INFECTION How long you take antibiotics for a UTI depends on how severe your UTI is and which antibiotics your are prescribed some medications like fosfomycine only required one dose while more severe UTI might required 14 days or more of treatment most requer 3 to 7 days of treatment Whtin the frist 1 to 2 days of starting your antibiotics you will probably notice your UTI symptoms start to fade away

Mechanism of action Sulfamethoxazole inhibits bacterial synthesis of dihydrofoclic acid by competing with para aminobenzoic. Fosfomycin is bactericidal antibiotic that interferes with cell wall synthesis in both gram – positive and gram – negative bacteria by inhibiting the initial step involving phosphoenolpyruvate synthetase

Nitrofurantoin is activated inside bacteria by reduction via the flavoprotein nitrofurantion reductase to unstable metabolites ,which disrupt ribosomal RNA ,DNA other intracellular components Cephalexin is a bactericidal agent that acts by the inhibition of bacterial cell –wall synthesis Ceftriaxone works by inhibiting the mucopeptide synthesis in the bacterial cell wall

side effects Nausea Diarrhea Dizziness Headache Light headedness Trouble sleeping
