CHURCH OF CHRIST, SANGOTEDO DRY BONES SHALL RISE AGAIN ( Ezekiel 37.1-14) A Sermon Presented by Bro. Peter Udoh 19th March 2017
The people of Israel in Ezekiel's time were taken into captive and they were faced with untold hardship. at that point they were said to be discouraged, so down and so defeated that they will say our bones are dry, our hope is lost and we will be cut off. Ez 37:11
Like many of us they felt they were at the end of the road, that there was no future for them. These were people that once had vitality and vigor, they were excited about the things of God and God’s presence and power was with them.
You may have dry bone in your life today, and because of that you lose hope, you fill like you are at the end of the road and you fill like there is no future for you. god wants you to know today that your dry bones shall rise again.
Your Dry bones May be Lack of Job Your dry bones may be your state of health, Your dry bones may be a bully that has been tormenting you Your dry bones may be bareness Your dry bone may be that course or exam that so difficult for you God is saying that those dry bones shall rise again.
How Will Dry Bones Rise Again 1 The Presence of God Whose hand was upon Ezekiel and set him down “in the midst of the valley ..” god showed up that day and showed him those dry bones.
2 The Power of God God’s Guidance Ez 37: 2 God Spoke to Ezekiel about those dry bones Ez 37:3 Ezekiel knew that He didn’t have the answers; that only God did! He set aside his pride and ego. He didn’t say, “I can make this happen,” “I can figure this out.” “I have a plan to revive those dry bones.” He knows that no plan of man can revive dry bones! Reviving dry bones requires the presence of the living God.
John 1:12. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.
3 The Word of God Daily in your private times; weekly in our bible study times and in our worship times, we hear the word of the lord. For your bones, will remain dry and your hope will remain lost until you hear the word of the lord, day after day, week after week !
Ezekiel preaching to dead bones is not different from you telling somebody about Christ Learn this: God’s word penetrates darkness and it penetrates death! No wonder the Apostle Paul told young Timothy to “Preach the Word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching” (2 Tim 4.2).
Isaiah 55.11, “So shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth; it shall not return to me void, but it shall accomplish what I please. And it shall prosper in the thing for which i sent it.” Dry bones most receive God’s Word But they must respond to the word of God. Ezekiel 37:7-8
Daily in your private times; weekly in our bible study times and in our worship times, we hear the word of the lord. For your bones, will remain dry and your hope will remain lost until you hear the word of the lord, day after day, week after week!
2 Timothy 3.16-17, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work .”
Hebrews 4.12, “For the word of God is living and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart .”
God’s word gives life! God’s word gives hope! God’s word connects us with God. If you want your dry bones to rise again, you must hear the word of God!
4 The Promise of God Jesus tells us in John 14.15-17, “If you love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the father and he will give you another helper, that He may abide with you forever, the spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.”
Acts 1.8, “But you shall receive power when the holy spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Do you know what those dry bones forgot? The promises of God! For back in Ezekiel chapter 36.26-27, “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.” You may say today that your bones are dry, that your hope is lost. But know this… Your dry bones shall rise again.
