In settling the Heights, sandstone, flowing water and groundwater were important resources. The Dugway WB landscape generated several early water related industries, now almost forgotten. Euclid bluestone terrace On the Dugway escarpment, glacial advance created a terraced bedrock topography. North In retreat, glacial meltwater cut through the terraces to form a gorge. Coventry Rd had no commercial development at this time.

Stop 3: Ezra Lacy sandstone quarry Rock Ct Remains of the quarry wall in the Berea Sandstone massive beds. Early on, 10.7 acre sandstone quarry parcel was carved out of 160 acre Lot 7. Ezra Lacy began quarrying here in 1834. Alex Ormiston , Jr. owned the lot in 1858. He went on to quarry bluestone Forest Hill. J.W. Hawkins owned the lot in 1874. © 2015 Bluestone Heights K.
