2. ENTNER DOUDOROFF PATHWAY (EDP) The ED pathway was first reported by Michael Duodroff in prokaryotic organisms. The Entner-Duodoroff pathway catabolizes glucose to pyruvic acid The ED pathway is found in some gram-negative bacteria including Rhizobium, Agrobacterium and Pseudomonas .

3. Continue.. Very few Gram-positive bacteria have this pathway with Enterococcus faecalius being a rare exception All these bacteria lack enzymes essential for glycolysis such as phosphofructokinase

4. Continue.. The ED pathway has net yield of 1 ATP for every glucose molecule processed, as well as 1 NADP and NADPH By comparison glycolysis has net yield of 2ATP and 2 NADPH for every one glucose molecule processed
