UNEMPLOYMENT Unemployment occurs when a person who is actively searching for employment is unable to find job. It signals the inability of workers to readily obtain gainful work to contribute to productive output of the economy. Unemployment is often used as a measure of the health of the economy

EDUCATED UNEMPLOYMENT Educated unemployment is a situation which arises when a large number of educated people are jobless or unable to secure a job. Educated unemployment is the situation in which the people who are capable of working and willing to work do not get employment. Educated unemployment is unemployment among people with an academic degree. It is also called as graduate unemployment. MEANING

CAUSES ECONOMIC CONDITIONS Economic condition is one of the main factor. Once a company fails to pay its employees then there is no choice for the employees rather than to leave the job.

LACK OF SKILL Despite large number of educated young, there is shortage of skilled manpower .

TECHNOLOGICAL GROWTH Technology inclusion is a must for the growth of the economy and at the same time it reduces the chance of job opportunities .

POPULATION AND MIGRATION Uncontrolled population growth and migration of foreign job seekers could also be counted as a cause of unemployment .

EFFECTS OF EDUCATED UNEMPLOYMENT Hypertension, cardiac problems, depression, suicide are rising among youth. Alcoholism, drug addiction, smoking and rash driving behavior have increased among youth. Unemployment can lead to emotional and mental stress. Low economic growth. Develop slow self-esteem among the youth.

It results in higher poverty levels. Wastage of human resources. Low living standard. Political instability. Social problems.

REMEDIES The main remedy lies in the rapid industrialization. The need of improvements in education and training provided to the youths with greater focus on vocational skills and self employment. Government support to struggling industries is necessary to try to save jobs. Promoting education especially female education and motivating people to have small families. Enhanced focus on entrepreneurial, communication and interpersonal skill development.

Integrated counselling, evaluation and career guidance initiatives. The need of faster economic growth to generate more jobs. Give awareness about small scale industry, medium scale industries and large scale industries among youths. Improve skill to make people to competitive in different fields. Increased cross talk between public-private, formal/informal educational enterprises. Government need to support the start ups. Exploitation of foreign employment opportunities. Identify new job areas based on modern technology.
