World Health Organization
•A phase which involves -
–Progression from appearance of secondary sexual
characteristics (puberty) to sexual and reproductive
maturity
–Development of adult mental process and identity
–Transition from total social-economic dependence
to relative independence

What is early, middle and late
Adolescence?
•Early (10 – 14))
– Growth Spurt, Beginning of Sexual Maturity and Start to
think abstractly.
•Middle (14 – 15)
– Main Physical Change Completed, Develop stronger sense
of Identity, relates strongly to peer group, Thinking
becomes reflective.
•Late (16 – 19)
–Body takes adult form, has distinct identity and more
settled ideas and opinions.

•Teens require around 9.5 hours of sleep

•Teens melatonin peeks around
1:00 am and peeks in adults
around 10:00 pm
•Melatonin the hormone
is released to make us sleep
•High Schools start times
is changed because
of information on sleep and how
teenagers need sleep
•Growth for Teens is important
and is happening while sleeping

•During the teen years very rapid
physical growth and activity is
happening
•Teens biological clock changes
and this causes fatigue in teens
if they do not get enough sleep

understanding the anatomical, morphological and
psychological changes expected during adolescence.
These mainly happens due to:-
•Misleading and misguiding parents, teachers, friends,
brother/sisters.

• Half - informed or ill - informed friends, brothers,
sisters.
• Wrongful messages depicted through TV serials,
advertisements, films
