LESSON 5 ELECTRICITY ELECTRICITY

WHAT IS ELECTRICITY? Electricity is the  flow of electrical power or charge . Electricity is both a basic part of nature and one of the most widely used forms of energy.

SOURCES OF ELECTRICITY RENEWABLE NON-RENEWABLE

Non-Renewable Fossil fuels such as coal and natural gas, are among the leading energy inputs in the United States and other parts of the world. According to the Energy Information Administration, fossil fuels, coal, natural gas, and oil account for a significant portion of electric power generation globally. 

Non-Renewable Nuclear energy is another major source of electric power. Nuclear power plants generate electric power through nuclear fission, a process in which atomic nuclei are split, releasing vast amounts of energy. This energy is used to heat water, producing steam that drives turbines and generates power.

S olar power Renewable is gaining popularity due to the falling costs of solar photovoltaics and the widespread availability of sunlight. Solar panels can be installed on a small scale, such as on residential rooftops, or a large scale in solar farms. 

Renewable Wind energy is another promising renewable source, with wind turbines converting wind's kinetic energy into electric power.

Hydroelectric power Renewable another significant renewable energy source. It harnesses the energy of flowing water, usually from dams, to generate electric power. However, while hydroelectric power is clean and renewable, it can have negative environmental impacts, disrupting ecosystems and displacing communities.

HOW CAN WE UNDERSTAND ELECTRICITY MATHEMATICALLY? HOW CAN WE UNDERSTAND ELECTRICITY MATHEMATICALLY?

In Electricity circuit, the Relationship between current (I) and Resistance (R) is inversely proportional. I ∝ 1 R

SAMPLE PROBLEM 1: Consider a lamp connected to a 10-V Source. The current flowing is 3 amperes (A). Compute the resistance of the lamp. SAMPLE PROBLEM 2: If the resistance in an electric appliances is 50 Ohm Ω  and the Voltage across it is 6 V, How much current will be able to flow?
