ELECTRONIC PRODUCTS ASSEMBLY AND SERVICING

PRAYER

Classroom Rules Be ready to learn Listen and follow directions . Be Respectful to others. Be Responsible

Learning Competencies Read instruments to the limit of accuracy. (TLE_IAEPAS9-12PMC-Ih-j-10) Learning Objectives determine the use of multimeter as an ohmmeter. identify the procedure in measuring resistance apply the use of ohmmeter by measuring an appliances

“Pass-a Ball”

Instructions Students are instructed to form a circle. The teacher will roll a dice, the number indicated in the dice will determine how many times the paper ball will be passed on. The students who received the paper ball on the last count indicated by the dice will peel off the outer layer of the paper ball and identify the part of multi-tester.

Let’s Puzzle it!

Guide Questions: 1. What image is form in the picture? 2. In which part of the multi-tester is responsible in selecting what kind reading will be made? 3. What do you think will happen if the range selector knob will switch to ohms?

-Ohmmeter can be defined as, it is one kind of electronic device mainly used for calculating electrical resistance of a circuit, and the unit of resistance is ohm Ω OHMMETER

The Ohmmeter Scale - the topmost scale of the VOM is the ohmmeter calibrated in nonlinear manner and is used in measuring resistance - Nonlinear calibration means that the entire scale is not equally divided.

Procedures in using Ohmmeter Check the pointer of the multi-tester if it is set to infinite ∞. Set the multi-tester to the desired range. You can set the pointer initially at zero Ω by connecting the two leads of the instrument and adjusting the knob to be exactly zero. Measure the resistance of the component being measured. The reading is equivalent to the scale reading multiplied by the number indicated at the set range. Ranges are Ωx1, Ωx10, Ωx100, Ωx10k and Ωx1k.

Groupings Instruction: The class will be divided into 4 groups. Each group will be tasked to measure the speed resistance of an electric fan using multimeter as an ohmmeter.

Objective To be able to measure the resistance of low, medium, and high speed of an electric fan.

Materials : Multimeter Electric fan Activity sheets

Guide Questions: 1. What do you observe regarding the resistance of low, medium, and high speed of electric fans? 2. Which has the higher resistance measurement? 3. If low, medium, and high doesn’t show any reading, what does it imply?

DIRECTIONS: Given below is the ohmmeter scale with pointers on each number that indicates its readings. Identify the ohmmeter readings with the given range and. Write your answer on your answer sheet.
