What is TEXTURE? TEXTURE is the surface quality of an abject . It is the way something feels when touched OR look as though it would feel then touched . For example, a Rock is rough and rugged while a piece of silk fabric is soft and smooth. ©Bernard E. Richardson| 2020

Types of TEXTURE? There are TWO types of TEXTURE 1. PHYSICAL TEXTURE 2. VISUAL TEXTURE Is the physical texture you can actually feel with your fingers. It is also called TACTILE texture. Is the illusion of physical texture created on a flat surface. It is simulated using various drawing materials and painting. It cannot be felt. It is also called IMPLIED texture or DRAWN texture

Your ASSIGNMENT Cont’d MATERIALS You will need: - Wax crayons - Pencil - Plain white paper (cut into 2 " x 2 " squares) - sketch book - Scissors - Glue - Surfaces with interesting texture

Find and Explore different surfaces found around the class room/school compound by touching them. Capture the texture of these surfaces by placing a piece of paper (2 " x 2 " ) on it and rub using either a wax crayon or pencil. (Use a different colour for each). 3.
