TONE - the attitude of the poem MOOD - The feeling created by the poet for the reader
LINES – a subdivision of a poem, specifically a group of words arranged into a row . STANZA - a smaller group of lines or paragraph in a poem. 2 lines- couplet 3 lines- Tercet 4 lines- Quatrain 5 lines- Cinquain 6 lines- Sistet 7 lines- Septet 8 lines- Octave
RHYME- a repetition of two similar sounds in the final stressed syllables and any following syllables of two or more words. Example: Day and Sway Bright and Light Pause and Laws Would and Hood
SYMBOL - a person, object, place, event, or action that suggest more than its literal meaning. FIGURE OF SPEECH - used to link two ideas with the goal of influencing an audience to see a connection
