Line - a unit of language into which a poem is divided 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8

Stanza - the main building block or the unit composed of the lines in the poem. 1st L 2nd

Activity 1: Read and determine the lines, and stanzas in this poem.

Rhythm - the pattern of stressed and unstressed syllables in a line of verse.  - best way to get the rhythm is by reading the poem aloud and you'll notice the pattern.

Meter - the patterns of stressed and unstressed syllables in a line are called meters. Foot is the individual unit of rhythm

Rhyme Scheme - the pattern of end rhymes in a poem with assigned letters. The same letter is used for lines that rhyme with each other. ex  ABAB, AABB, AAAA a a b b a

Activity 1: Determine the lines, stanzas, and theme in this poem.

Theme - the underlying message that the writer convey

Mood - the atmosphere that the poem has created for the reader. 

Tone - the attitude of the writer towards the subject. 

Figures of speech - a writing technique that writers use to express ideas, convey meaning, and highlight important themes in a piece of text.

Says that one was grassy as there were hardly any travelers walking down that road. Simile -Compares that both roads are the same Personification - The road here is personified as wanting humans to travel down its path.. 

Activity: 15 min Poet In your English notebook, make your own poem composed of 2 stanzas with 4 lines,  and use the elements  about what this picture makes you feel or think.   Rubrics: Title of poem 2 pts Idea/ content 4 pts Diction and organization 4 pts Total 10 pts    Your classmates can guess the elements. It should have at least 2 stanzas with 4 lines, elements are used and has at least three figures of speech. Be guided with the rubric.
