Title: Humidity Sensor Prepared by: S.PAVAN KUMAR Reg no : 231801400004 Subject: ES- ARM [CUTM1039] Guide by : Dr.K.Ramya

Introduction A humidity sensor (hygrometer) is a device that measures the amount of water vapor in the air. Humidity is an important parameter in many fields like weather forecasting, industrial processing, and agriculture. Types of humidity measurements: Absolute humidity – actual amount of moisture Relative humidity – moisture relative to maximum possible

Types of Humidity Sensors Capacitive Sensors Measure change in capacitance due to moisture absorption. Common in industrial and commercial uses. 2. Resistive Sensors Detect change in electrical resistance of a hygroscopic material. Suitable for low-cost applications. 3. Thermal Conductivity Sensors Compare thermal conductivity of dry and humid air. Used for high-humidity environments .

Circuit Diagram of Humidity Sensor (Basic Interface with Microcontroller) Circuit Components: Humidity Sensor (e.g., DHT11 / DHT22) Microcontroller (e.g., Arduino Uno) Pull-up resistor (10 k Ω) Power supply (5 V) Display (LCD / Serial Monitor) Working Principle: Sensor powered (VCC & GND). Moisture changes capacitance/resistance of sensing element. Sensor converts it to an electrical signal ( analog or digital). Microcontroller reads the signal. Humidity value displayed or used to control other devices.

Applications Weather forecasting systems HVAC systems (Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning) Smart agriculture and irrigation Pharmaceutical & medical devices Industrial process control IoT and environmental monitoring systems

Advantages & Limitations Advantages: High sensitivity and accuracy Low power consumption Easy to integrate with microcontrollers Limitations: Needs calibration Can be affected by temperature May degrade in harsh environments

Conclusion Humidity sensors are essential components in modern technology. Their selection depends on the application requirements (accuracy, range, cost). With IoT and smart technologies, humidity sensing is becoming more advanced and widely used.
