Embedding expected standards for Learning, Teaching and Assessment across UEL using an ADKAR model Dr Angela Murphy-Thomas SFHEA University of East London

What is the Expected Standards framework? The  Expected Standards Framework is aimed at enhancing student learning and promoting innovation in teaching practices across the university. Designed and developed by staff and students at UEL through a series of workshop. Expected standard for learning, teaching and assessment at UEL was approved through academic board in June 2023 The framework is intended to describe key expectations for learning, teaching and assessment practices across the university. Promotes an equitable and inclusive academic culture (Merry 2023). Promotes transparency for staff and students in learning, teaching and assessment across the university.

Why do we need this? A key part of the Learning and Teaching Strategy to enhance learning and teaching provision across UEL (UEL L&T strategy) .  To ensure that all modules are of a comparable standard and all teaching staff are using consistent practice in pedagogy across their teaching. To ensure we meet statutory requirements for digital accessibility. Moving towards embedding quality teaching across all UEL courses to achieve teaching excellence.  To support work to narrow Degree Awarding gaps, through consistent academic support of all students.
