Prohibition Example 2 LOOK AT THE EXAMPLES You are not allowed to smoke in the public places. DANIEL 3: Nebuchadnezar,a king ordered that all must worship the image of his god which he created and if any man found not following the order will be put to death . You cannot smoke in the public places. Obligation Permission Use may or can I when asking permission. 1.Excuse me sir, May I go out? 2.Sir, can I go out? 1. Yes, you may go out. 2.Yes, you can go out. Use cannot when prohibiting someone or something. Use must or have to when expressing obligation.
LET'S DISCUSS Can/ may (might , could) -is used in expressing permission. Must, have to -is used to express obligation. Must not, can not) -is used to express prohibition.

Differentiated Activities: Group 1: The Mathematician-Dramatist Directions : Dramatize the given situation using modals and post it in your FB wall. Group 2: The Composers Directions : Compose a song by supplying the proper modals from the given situation and post it in your FB wall. Group 3: The Historian- Artists Directions: Search any social issues and make a school campaign using modals.
Group 1 Directions : Act it Out! Situation . You are a tourist guide giving an advice, the do's and don’ts to a tourist who wants to visit our local tourist spots and wanted to buy some of our local products. Dramatize the given situation using modals.
The Performers Directions : Compose a song at least 2 stanzas using modals. Situation . You are riding a bus with your friends going to the city that has a traffic lights and traffic enforcer giving you an advice on the different traffic rules. GROUP 2
