Question Tags

1. Check if your understanding of the situation is correct.
+ It’s a beautiful day, is: nt it?
Invite agreement from the listener.

+ You like pizza, don’t you?

If the sentence is positive, the tag is negative.

If the sentence is negative, the tag is positive.

Auxiliary Verbs:
Be
(am, is, are, was, were)
Do
(do, does, did)
Have
(Have, has, had)

Modal verbs
(should, could, would, etc)

We use do for general
statements without an
auxiliary verb.
