THE MAN AND THE LITTLE CAT One day, an old man was having a stroll in the forest when he suddenly saw a little cat stuck in a hole. The poor animal was struggling to get out. So, he gave him his hand to get him out. But the cat scratched his hand with fear.

The man pulled his hand screaming with pain. But he did not stop; he tried to give a hand to the cat again and again.

Another man was watching the scene, screamed with surprise, “For god sakes! Stop helping this cat! He’s going to get himself out of there”.

The other man did not care about him, he just continued saving that animal until he finally succeeded, And then he walked to that man and said, “Son, it is cat’s instincts that makes him scratch and to hurt, and it is my job to love and care”.

Going on a Field Trip The Grade five learners of MCES would go on a field trip.The learners assembled in school at exactly 7 a.m. The teacher checked the attendance at 8 o’clock before they boarded the bus. The bus reached Sikatuna’s “ Mirror of the World” at 10 o’clock in the morning. They enjoyed sight-seeing and taking pictures on the different beauty spots around the world. They went home happy and contented at 3 o’clock in the afternoon.

The text in (A) expresses enumeration. It is a text that shows a list of characters, classes, types, parts, ways and groups of things or subjects. Example: List of names, ingredients, favorite colors etc.

The text in (B) expresses time order. It means putting the ideas, sentences or events in the order in which they happened. How the ideas are arranged in a composition. It is important to note time signals such as in 1985, five years after, first, next, or finally. Example: Life cycle of insects, water cycle, events in a story,etc .

GENERALIZATION

What is enumeration text?

An enumeration text lists the kinds, characters, classes, types, parts, ways and groups of things or subjects.

What is time order text?

A time order text puts the ideas, sentences or events in the order in which they happened. How the ideas are arranged in a composition. It is important to note time signals such as in 1985, five years after, first, next, or finally.
