To compare the equal things indicate with –er, more, and than.
-er for short syllable (one syllable) -> hot, cold, fun, smart, cute. etc
More for long syllable (more than one syllable) -> handsome, healthy, beautiful,
active, etc
•Galihis tallerthan Andi
•The male students is more active than female students
•The dictionary is morethickerthan the encyclopaedia
Nb:
−you cannot use more and –er in one adjective, so you have to know it have to use
more or –er based on the syllable.
−Thick is only one syllable so you just need to add –er after the adjective

12. How to count syllable in English?
For counting the syllable in English is different with Bahasa
Indonesia. To count the syllable in English is based on the
pronunciation.
Ex:
•Beautiful is read as byu-ti-fulso it has three syllable
•Large is read as larjso it has one syllable
•Finance is read as fai-nensso it has two syllable
