How to structure sentence using past and present continuous tense Present Continuous Tense The present continuous tense is used to describe actions that are happening at the moment of speaking or ongoing actions. Structure: Subject+am /is/ are+verb+ing Examples: I am eating breakfast. She is reading a book. They are playing soccer.

Past Continuous Tense The past continuous tense is used to describe actions that were ongoing at a specific time in the past. Structure: Subject+was / were+verb+ing Examples: I was eating breakfast when the phone rang. She was reading a book all afternoon. They were playing soccer at 3 PM yesterday.

Forming Sentences Affirmative Sentences Present Continuous: She is studying for her exams. Past Continuous: She was studying for her exams last night. Negative Sentences Present Continuous: He is not (isn't) watching TV right now. Past Continuous: He was not (wasn't) watching TV when I called.
