10Toanothertheworkingofmiracles;toanotherprophecy;
toanotherdiscerningofspirits;toanotherdiverskindsof
tongues;toanothertheinterpretationoftongues:
11ButalltheseworkeththatoneandtheselfsameSpirit,
dividingtoeverymanseverallyashewill.
12Forasthebodyisone,andhathmanymembers,andall
themembersofthatonebody,beingmany,areonebody:
soalsoisChrist.
13ForbyoneSpiritareweallbaptizedintoonebody,
whetherwebeJewsorGentiles,whetherwebebondor
free;andhavebeenallmadetodrinkintooneSpirit.
14Forthebodyisnotonemember,butmany.
15Ifthefootshallsay,BecauseIamnotthehand,Iamnot
ofthebody;isitthereforenotofthebody?
16Andiftheearshallsay,BecauseIamnottheeye,Iam
notofthebody;isitthereforenotofthebody?
17Ifthewholebodywereaneye,wherewerethehearing?
Ifthewholewerehearing,wherewerethesmelling?
18ButnowhathGodsetthememberseveryoneofthemin
thebody,asithathpleasedhim.
19Andiftheywereallonemember,wherewerethebody?
20Butnowaretheymanymembers,yetbutonebody.
21Andtheeyecannotsayuntothehand,Ihavenoneedof
thee:noragaintheheadtothefeet,Ihavenoneedofyou.
22Nay,muchmorethosemembersofthebody,which
seemtobemorefeeble,arenecessary:
23Andthosemembersofthebody,whichwethinktobe
lesshonourable,uponthesewebestowmoreabundant
honour;andouruncomelypartshavemoreabundant
comeliness.
24Forourcomelypartshavenoneed:butGodhath
temperedthebodytogether,havinggivenmoreabundant
honourtothatpartwhichlacked:
25Thatthereshouldbenoschisminthebody;butthatthe
membersshouldhavethesamecareoneforanother.
26Andwhetheronemembersuffer,allthememberssuffer
withit;oronememberbehonoured,allthemembers
rejoicewithit.
27NowyearethebodyofChrist,andmembersin
particular.
28AndGodhathsetsomeinthechurch,firstapostles,
secondarilyprophets,thirdlyteachers,afterthatmiracles,
thengiftsofhealings,helps,governments,diversitiesof
tongues.
29Areallapostles?areallprophets?areallteachers?are
allworkersofmiracles?
30Haveallthegiftsofhealing?doallspeakwithtongues?
doallinterpret?
31Butcovetearnestlythebestgifts:andyetshewIunto
youamoreexcellentway.
CHAPTER13
1ThoughIspeakwiththetonguesofmenandofangels,
andhavenotcharity,Iambecomeassoundingbrass,ora
tinklingcymbal.
2AndthoughIhavethegiftofprophecy,andunderstand
allmysteries,andallknowledge;andthoughIhaveall
faith,sothatIcouldremovemountains,andhavenot
charity,Iamnothing.
3AndthoughIbestowallmygoodstofeedthepoor,and
thoughIgivemybodytobeburned,andhavenotcharity,
itprofitethmenothing.
4Charitysufferethlong,andiskind;charityenviethnot;
charityvauntethnotitself,isnotpuffedup,
5Dothnotbehaveitselfunseemly,seekethnotherown,is
noteasilyprovoked,thinkethnoevil;
6Rejoicethnotininiquity,butrejoicethinthetruth;
7Bearethallthings,believethallthings,hopethallthings,
endurethallthings.
8Charityneverfaileth:butwhethertherebeprophecies,
theyshallfail;whethertherebetongues,theyshallcease;
whethertherebeknowledge,itshallvanishaway.
9Forweknowinpart,andweprophesyinpart.
10Butwhenthatwhichisperfectiscome,thenthatwhich
isinpartshallbedoneaway.
11WhenIwasachild,Ispakeasachild,Iunderstoodasa
child,Ithoughtasachild:butwhenIbecameaman,Iput
awaychildishthings.
12Fornowweseethroughaglass,darkly;butthenfaceto
face:nowIknowinpart;butthenshallIknowevenasalso
Iamknown.
13Andnowabidethfaith,hope,charity,thesethree;but
thegreatestoftheseischarity.
CHAPTER14
1Followaftercharity,anddesirespiritualgifts,butrather
thatyemayprophesy.
2Forhethatspeakethinanunknowntonguespeakethnot
untomen,butuntoGod:fornomanunderstandethhim;
howbeitinthespirithespeakethmysteries.
3Buthethatprophesiethspeakethuntomentoedification,
andexhortation,andcomfort.
4Hethatspeakethinanunknowntongueedifiethhimself;
buthethatprophesiethedifieththechurch.
5Iwouldthatyeallspakewithtongues,butratherthatye
prophesied:forgreaterishethatprophesieththanhethat
speakethwithtongues,exceptheinterpret,thatthechurch
mayreceiveedifying.
6Now,brethren,ifIcomeuntoyouspeakingwithtongues,
whatshallIprofityou,exceptIshallspeaktoyoueitherby
revelation,orbyknowledge,orbyprophesying,orby
doctrine?
7Andeventhingswithoutlifegivingsound,whetherpipe
orharp,excepttheygiveadistinctioninthesounds,how
shallitbeknownwhatispipedorharped?
8Forifthetrumpetgiveanuncertainsound,whoshall
preparehimselftothebattle?
9Solikewiseye,exceptyeutterbythetonguewordseasy
tobeunderstood,howshallitbeknownwhatisspoken?
foryeshallspeakintotheair.
10Thereare,itmaybe,somanykindsofvoicesinthe
world,andnoneofthemiswithoutsignification.
11ThereforeifIknownotthemeaningofthevoice,Ishall
beuntohimthatspeakethabarbarian,andhethatspeaketh
shallbeabarbarianuntome.
12Evensoye,forasmuchasyearezealousofspiritual
gifts,seekthatyemayexceltotheedifyingofthechurch.
13Whereforelethimthatspeakethinanunknowntongue
praythathemayinterpret.
