Progression of The Design Movement There are a variety of approaches in the
history of interior design, whether it is the interior, architecture, furniture, design
characteristic, concept, and history and social background. All of these approaches
are a must to take it into consideration because they are the main principles of the art
design. Moreover, one of the most important elements is the design characteristic.
Design characteristic is what every single era is personalized in. It is also shows the
differences that were happened in each era, and how it developed and transmitted to
another era with an extremely huge difference. Every era has a movement that has its
own design characteristic such as, in the Revolution: The Industrial Revolution, in the
Reformers: the Shakers, in the Innovations: Art Nouveau, and the Bauhaus, and in the

As a result of the progression, the shakers came and created new design principles
away from the industrial revolution s characteristics. They rejected the
mechanization, they respected nature, their main point was to have a pure mind and
body, and to be kind. As time passed, the Innovation came to determine new elements.
Art Nouveau design characteristic was mainly about asymmetry, emphasis on
decoration, organic, dynamism, and reduction. Furthermore, the Bauhaus main goal
was emphasizing asymmetry, purity, no ornamentation and plain facades. When
comes to Modernism; the International style elements were clean lines, simple, pure,
smooth faГ§ade, and flat roof. On the other hand, the Environmental modern elements
were minimizing energy, recycling, elimination waste, and improving indoor air
