Picnics Essay
An Essay On Picnics
Picnics are a pleasant diversion. They break the monotony of life. They bring into one s daily
life a touch of variety. They carry us away from the world of our daily existence into a world that
is different. They may be said to touch the prose of life with the charm of poetry. The release the
springs of joy held down by the burden of duties and responsibilities. Hence they are often a
refreshing tonic.
Picnics are of various kinds. One may have a picnic with one s family. This is not very common in
Indian households. Here domestic from the dreariness of perpetual domesticity. And yet perhaps it
is likely to be the pleasantest. The relationship between parents and children, between brothers and
sisters, too often becomes formal and lifeless. An outing in the open air, away from the well
marked conveniences that are so necessary to make existence smooth, is in the nature of a pleasant
surprise it startles us out of our habitual routine; it bring out the very best in each of us; and we
realize that we are human beings with distinctive personalities.
Another kind is picnic with friends. This is far more common with us. Students of school and
colleges as well as members of clubs and institution often organize these ... Show more content on

The first stage is planning. Often this is the pleasantest. To discuss plans in advance creates
happiness in anticipation. The selection of the place, of the party and of the nature of the outing
gives ample scope for discussion and argument, and makes things lively. But it becomes
botheration if there is too much planning, too much attention to every detail. The joy of a picnic
often lies in the discovery that something has been left behind, something has not been provided
for. The ingenuity of individual members is taxed and to devise ways and means to get over the
difficulty adds much to the relish of this situation. It is no use carrying to a picnic the well ordered
self sufficiency of the

My Musical Journey
Boe Evans
My Musical Journey, well my Journey to Music all had started when I was young. When I was
in fifth grade I was having trouble with school, and doing things I was supposed to do. I was
only 10 years old, life was still a new journey that I was experiencing and was excited to go
through. A friend of mine named Jordan had been visiting in Coronado California, from Texas,
and brought along some motor bikes with him. He was basically a professional at the sport, and
had been doing it for years, while I had never done it before. Him and his Father had invited me
to go out motor biking with them in Julian, California, on one of the days they were here. And of
course I said yes I was so excited and was glad they chose me to go along with them that day.
Our ride to Julian California took about a hour or two to get there. We arrived in the desert along
a highway and parked the car on the side of the road, not knowing what lied ahead of us. We
pulled the motor bikes out of the trailer and got on our gear, so we would be protected. At first I
had a little trouble with handling the motorbike with the clutch and the geers but after a while I
had gotten the hang of it. We had been riding for about 1 2 hours that night. Until something
horrible had happened. I was motor biking about 30 feet away from the road, where it was
supposed to be safe and uninhabited by cars. Along the highway still 30 feet away from it I had
been motor biking not knowing what was going to happen

An Evaluation of the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory III Manual, MCMI III Third Edition

The Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory III or MCMI III is a level C, self report personality
test created by Theodore Millon, PhD, DSc, with Carrie Millon, PhD, Roger Davis, PhD, and
Seth Grossman, PsyD. The MCMI III was published originally by NCS Pearson, Inc in 1994 but
was then re released in 1997 (Millon et al, 1997). This test is pretty pricey coming at $406.95 for
the fourth edition, the third edition is no longer available for purchase since a newer version has
been published and using the third edition would be unethical. The price for the fourth edition of
the MCMI III personality test is for the manual scoring starting kit, which includes: 10 test
booklets, 50 answer sheets, 50 worksheets, 50 profile forms and answer keys; however the plain
manual without any of the additional required items can be purchased for $61.50. The fourth
edition will be released later on this year, 2015 (Clinical Psychology, 2015). The MCMI III Third
edition is a test that assesses DSM IV related personality disorders and syndromes for the use of
people 18 years of age and older at an 8th grade reading level and is also available in Spanish
(Clinical Psychology, 2015). The primary purpose of the MCMI III test is to provide information to

After reading a number of articles, and attending the Picking Cotton lecture. I have come to the
conclusion that, without the breakthrough of DNA extraction technology. Many people would still
be convicted of a crime they never committed. One of the biggest pushes for this change in the
judicial system, was the Thompson Vs. Cotton case. Ronald Cotton was accused of raping twenty
two year old college student, Jennifer Thompson. During a lecture at Ferris State University,
Thompson recalled thinking over and over again that once I [survive] and live, I will make sure
that I know everything about you [...] to help the police find you . Little did she know, the man that
she chose in both picture and physical lineup was an innocent man.... Show more content on

In Eller s book of Cultural Anthropology, he notes that Anthony Wallace says that Revitalization
Movements are conscious, deliberate, and organized efforts on the part of some member(s) of a
society to create a new better, and more satisfying culture (Eller). People were beginning to realize
how out of date the judiciary system was, and were beginning to be skeptical on how accurate it
really was.
It is a horrifying idea to think that so many people were accused and locked up in prison. They
were average people who had families, friends, and jobs, and were taken away from them and they
don t even know why. Ronald Cotton was only twenty two, when he walked into the police station
to clear his name of any misidentification he may have had. What he didn t know was that was the
last time he would have freedom.
Eleven years was taken from him because of a poor system that relied on the human brain s
capability to recall memory. If the human brain cannot instantly recall a memory the odds of
having a correct recall drops dramatically. This is because the brain begins to piece faulty items
into the memory. This makes it seem so real, that it had to be what the person thought they saw.
Improvements are slowly beginning to make their way to the judiciary system. With these strides
toward new developments and strategies, the police can help reduce any more incidents like the

The Portrait Of Edward Hopper
Edward Hopper was a quiet person but his art speaks louder that his words. His paintings are
famous because they are mysterious and his scenes don t seem to be complete. His paintings
leave the viewer with questions which makes his painting even more interesting. Hopper started
sketching and drawing at a very young age. Hopper has struggled throughout his career but in
the end, he s made it to where he is now. When Hopper was young he loved anything to do with
art. He was extremely excited when he got a blackboard one Christmas. He loved how he could
draw anything, erase it, and draw a brand new picture. When he became older he had a pencil and
paper everywhere he went. He loved to observe people but he watched them in a natural habitat...

He also visited Belgium, England, Germany, and France. He even stayed with a french family
when he was in Paris. When he wasn t traveling over to Europe he lived in an apartment in
Greenwich which he moved into in 1913. Hopper lived here for the rest of his life. He hated
having to work and paint for other businesses but that s what he had to do to keep his apartment.
Luckily for him, he was 43 years old when he had enough money to quit the job and focus on his
paintings more. Most artists don t immediately get recognized and in Hopper s case, the first
painting he ever sold was in 1911. The painting was call Sailing and it sold for $250 or $4300 in
today s money. It was also exhibited at the famous Armory Show. The Armory show introduced
American Art World to a new kind of experimental art of Europe. Getting an invitation to this
exhibit was a great honor. So this was a pretty big deal for him. Sadly, after Sailing he didn t sell
another painting for years. He did, however, continue to work as an illustrator even though he
didn t like it. Later, he traveled to Monhegan, Maine and met Josephine Verstille Nivison. She
was a former student of his who studied under Henri as well. The two had been friends for quite
a few years and then they got New York on July 9, 1924. They were in fact opposites of each
other Josephine or Jo was more outgoing and spoke her thoughts, while Hopper was more soft
spoken, quiet, and polite. Sometimes talking with Eddie is

Canadian Magazine Globalization
Globalization, which is the international integrations of people, economics, and culture, has
changed the world. Cultural globalization is a phenomenon by which the experience of everyday
life, as influenced by the diffusion of commodities and ideas, reflects a standardization of cultural
expressions (Watson 2016, para.1). Many people believe that their culture is under fire by cultural
globalizationand the birth of the new global village. One such example of this is the case of the
Canadian Magazine Dispute of the 1990 s.
Canada believes magazines to be an integral part of their culture and media. The Canadian
government, in an effort to protect this aspect of its culture, began imposing tariffs on foreign
magazines. This began in the 1920 s and in the 60 s began prohibiting split run editions of foreign
magazines (The Levin Institute 2016, para.3). In the 90 s, and the boom in information technology,
this all came to a head. American publishers began publishing split run editions with some Canadian
content. They were printed in Canada via electronic transmission. Canada, who was angered over
this loophole and in an effort to protect its magazine industry, raised the ... Show more content on

To what extent do you think the government of Canada was pressured to seek to protect its market
because of financial interests of the Canadian magazine industry? As I stated in the last question,
the Canadian domestic magazine market is considerably small compared to the foreign market.
With the heavy push of American magazines due to the information technology boom, I believed
that the Canadian magazine publishers were indeed worried that they might be shut out of their
market completely especially since so much of the magazine industry seems to have been
controlled by foreign publishers. I believe the Canadian publishers probably lobbied hard to ensure
their government increased tariffs and taxes on foreign magazines and foreign

Women As An Adult Female Person
Dictionary.com defines woman as an adult female person. This does justice in simple terms but a
woman is much more than simply an adult female person. Women are caregivers and nurturers.
We are strong, independent, protective, and driven. We are the electricity that keeps the lights on
and the washers of the laundry when their children are too lazy to do it (only because we care,
not because it is our duty ). Unfortunately, this is not how women were always seen. We have had
to fight hard to get where we are today, and must continue to fight so we can be somewhere new
tomorrow. Women were seen as housewives, who cooked cleaned, and cared for the children while
their husband was bringing home the bacon. This transferred into the theater as well. Women were
expected to always attend with a male escort to one, keep her safe, as theater could easily turn into a
riot, and two because attending without a man suggested one was a prostitute. The invention of the
matinee performance allotted women the opportunity to attend shows during the day, making it
safe from brawls and thieves while also sparing a womans reputation. Women s participation in
public life increased in the later portion of the 1800s, majorly due to the Seneca Falls Convention
in 1848, and later in the 1920s due to the Women s Suffrage Amendment of 1920. However, in the
1840s, the Philharmonic took a leap in jumpstarting the public social lives of women in New York.
In 1847, the Philharmonic opened its

Rhetorical Devices Of `` We Wear The Mask `` And `` Harlem ``
In literature, rhetorical devices are primarily used to convey a particular feeling or action to the
reader. Through the use of rhetorical devices such as imagery, description, and metaphorical
allusion, the author gives the reader the ability to connect with the text on a more intimate level that
otherwise would not have been achieved without the use of them. Subsequently, Harlem
Renaissancewriters such as Paul Lawrence Dunbar and Langston Hughesemployed the rhetorical
devices of imagery, description and metaphorical allusion to convey the egregious realities of the
black experience in the United States during the early twentieth century. In writings such as, We
Wear the Mask by Paul Lawrence Dunbar and Harlem by Langston Hughes, the use of rhetorical
devices gives each writer the ability to provide commentary on the social, economic, and political
circumstances that African Americans faced in inner city Harlem during the turn of the twentieth
century.
In We Wear the Mask , Dunbar primarily employs the rhetorical device of metaphorical allusion to
give the reader a sense of how African Americans navigated socially in a traditionally white
supremacist, patriarchal society. He begins his poem, with We wear the mask that grins and lies, it
hides are cheeks and shades our eyes (Dunbar, We Wear the Mask ). Here, he employs the use of the
mask to elaborate on the double consciousness that African Americans had to exhibit in order to
function during that tumultuous

The Folly of Rewarding a While Hoping for B
Kerr s observation on The folly of rewarding A while hoping for B is true today, simply illustrates
the sometimes fouled up rewards systems that most companies have in place. Fouled up in the
sense that most companies wrongly reward not so positive behaviours while hoping and expecting
for better ones.
Kushell, E., Michael A, Heide D and Bosserman N, in their article explain that Kerr s words help
explain today s disappointing competitive results. They further explain that most organisations
continue to reward less productive behaviour, using the example of getting a job done being more
important that how the job gets done at the expense of long term gains in productivity.

In my organization, performance is measured by different parameters for different departments. The
performance of the sales department team is measured by the number of sales made and the amount
of revenue generated. For cabin crew members, performance is weighed through a number of
ways and primarily through frequent on board appraisals. These appraisals are often conducted
by senior cabin crew members and are measured against certain standard factors such as
interaction with passengers and colleagues and general activities carried out on the flight. This
appraisal system applies to all cabin crew members, however seniors in the company have an
additional way through which they are appraised where junior cabin crew members have the equal
opportunity to rate their seniors as well making the performance evaluation processes two way.
Another way performance is measured is through attendance. Points are deducted for absenteeism
and lateness and anyone with a good track record of attendance is considered a good performer.
Good performance is rewarded through timely job promotions, special recognition and in some
cases monetary rewards and incentives.
Is this system of appraisal effective? Not always. Could this be strategically improved? Definitely.
The major downside of this appraisal system is that it is often generic, routine and repetitive. For
example, the appraisal forms used to rate performance has remained unchanged for over a decade
such that the appraised

Main Ideas and Themes of Beowulf Essay
Beowulf and Sir Gawain have many things in common. We will be discussing them later on, but
their main similarity is that they re both heroes. A hero is a person who must pass through a test
and a battle (mental, spiritual or physical) to help someone else. He must be selfless, and act for
others rather than himself. All societies have supported heroes, like the ancient Greek s Hercules
and the modern day Spiderman. These are hero stereotypes, with supernatural powers. Heroes don t
have to be stereotypes, but can be firemen, policemen or soldiers. Two famous heroes in ancient
literature are Beowulfand Sir Gawain.
Beowulf is about a guard who must destroy a destructive monster who has ... Show more content on

Beowulf s test is to defeat the evil creature Grendel, protecting his hall and soldiers. Sir Gawain s
test is to resist temptation to steal a magic belt, and steal the master s wife! Even though both
tests are different, Beowulf s test and Gawain s test both test courage. The courage to take on a
monster and the courage to resist stealing and keeping you re word! In the end, both succeeded,
Grendel was killed, and sir Gawain received his blow, and stayed alive, but both had
consequences. Beowulf s friends got killed, and later on Grendel s mother attacks him, and sir
Gawain had been given a cut to his neck, and lost his honor.
The test the heroes have to face, is often put up by a villain, and both have their fair share of
villains. In Beowulf the enemy is a dark monster, which eats human and has super strength, enough
to bend iron. In Sir Gawain, the apparent villain is the green knight, who challenges sir Gawain to
a grueling beheading contest . After it s head falls off, he is not harmed, so he has some weird
magical qualities. Both have supernatural powers and striking appearances, but the difference is
that in sir Gawain and the green knight, the green knight is just the master of the kingdom in
disguise, testing the nobility of King Arthur s knights, and not a mortal enemy.
The main difference in the two poems is the

Al Qaeda Of The United States
September 11th 2001 is a day Americans will remember for the rest of their lives. This was the
day Al Qaeda, a radical Islamic group organized by Osama Bin Laden in the 1990 s, terrorized
America. Al Qaeda hijacked four airplanes and executed suicide attacks on four sites in the United
States of America. The first two of the airplanes were flown into the Twin Towers in New York
City, another hit the Pentagon in Washington DC and the last plane crashed into a field in
Pennsylvania, but could have been headed towards the White House or United States capital
building. Thousands of people died and these terrorists attacks changed America s fabric forever.

damage to the World Trade Center as compared to the 9/11 attacks ...six people were killed
almost instantly. (The 1993 Trade Center Bombing) and thousands were injured in some way.
Another major terrorist attack executed by Al Qaeda was the USS Cole Bombing. In October
of 2000, while in Aden, Yemen the USS Cole made a rest stop to refuel. Meanwhile two suicide
bombers carried explosives on a small motor boat next to the USS Cole, The blast ripped a 40

It did not stop there, before 9/11, These are just a few of the planned attacks on America by Al

Security is a major byproduct that evolved after 9/11. America s Homeland Security s goal is to

Chipotle Mexican Grill Incident
Chipotle Mexican Grill Incorporated has always had a great reputation for being an inexpensive,
high quality, fast food chain. That reputation suddenly diminished when the company had to close
43 restaurants in Oregon and Washington State towards the end of 2015. An E.coli outbreak had
emerged at six restaurants in that region, and soon afterwards the same was reported in seven other
states. Health officials cited a particular restaurant at Boston College for improper handling of
poultry and the presence of a sick employee after 80 students had become ill after eating there. The
cause was a common virus, norovirus. After instances of contaminated food, Chipotle was being
thoroughly questioned about their pledge for serving food with integrity. ... Show more content on

The unit volumes were $2.5 million before the infestation, and they shrunk to $1.8 million.
Average volumes are not expected to increase until 2020. (Little). Surprisingly, new stores are
performing the worst. The brand s reputation took a hit and people still think about the viral and
bacteria crises when they hear the name Chipotle. The company alone has even brought down the
percentage of restaurant same store sales. The stock itself had decreased by 42 percentage points a
year later and the company s recovery has been at a much slower rate than other companies due to
their original pledges about their food which led to many questions. (Little). The company is
continuing to rise back up slowly, but their communication skills certainly have not helped the
process. If they took a different approach and communicated their plans to the public more
efficiently, the current numbers may not have been so low and they maybe have earned trust
back from more of the clientele. Most recently on April 11th, 2019, in efforts to raise its profits,
Chipotle had raised its prices in 440 restaurants, which is 20 percent of the total of 2,200 locations.
(Patton). This was the first time it has done so since the crisis. Those restaurants bumped up prices
by five percent. (Patton). Chipotle spokesman, Chris Arnold, claimed the reason for increasing
prices was because of food inflation and due to the quality of products they use. That move
especially does not help Chipotle in winning back their customers.

Spiritualism In The Celestine Prophecy
This essay will critically review The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield. It shall explore the
author s motives after sending a nameless character on a spiritual and dangerous journey through
Peru. The reappearing themes of human connection and spirituality are present all throughout the
book as the protagonistslowly moves away from his skepticism and truly experiences a new way to

Redfield is able to both entertain and persuade the reader in many different and unique ways. By
questioning reality in such an interesting fashion, as to say we can become one with the world

work, eat, sleep and repeat. Even a person who does not believe could question themselves

unpopular amongst those who truly need it. While having such a large impact on most of whom

the book stands strong and can give one a new outlook on life and lead them on a path which
harbours mindfulness and a connection with all living things. With a world so full of negativity

The War Of 1812 By Andrew Jackson
The War of 1812, perhaps like most wars, may appear to be without merit, ironic and perverse. It
began in response to Britain s policy of impressment, employed to prevent France, its enemy in
the Napoleonic Wars, from obtaining supplies from America, and ended with the reallocation of

the extent that a truce was declared, but not communicated to the troops in America, before the
largest battle of the war took place at New Orleans. A war that curbed American expansion also

Far from the shores of England, and to a large extent independent from the mother country,
Canada remained reliant upon Britain, at least for its military expertise. Although Britain was
largely preoccupied with the Napoleonic Wars in Europe, its military support of Canada,
especially in the later phases of the war, proved to be decisive in the defeat of the Americans.
Perhaps this is only appropriate given that Britain s policy of impressment of American vessels
and sailors was a principal cause of the War of 1812(Black, 185). To be fair though, American
expansionist sentiment, embodied in the cries of the War Hawks leading up to the War of 1812,
and that later manifested itself in the form of Manifest Destiny contained in the Monroe Doctrine,
was also a cause of the war. Also contributing to the start of the War was the growing expansionist
sentiment in the United States that was based on the idea of American superiority over
Canada(185). This sense of superiority was rooted not only in the ideology of the American
revolution, that republicanism and democracy were superior to monarchy and despotism, but also
in the comparative advantage in population, manpower, financial and industrial strength enjoyed by
America (Creighton,108). To the Americans, Upper Canada was an appealing and exceedingly
vulnerable province by virtue of its geography, small population and perhaps even more so because
of the composition of that population that included many recent

Annual paint test: The Federal government rules require that he FAA s In Service Aviation
Orange Tolerance Chart be used as the benchmark for determining whether a structure needs to
be cleaned or repainted. Importantly, the requirement specifies that the annual paint test be
performed at the top of the tower. After all, the top of the tower is the part that is most exposed
to the elements and is most important to be visible for air navigation. There are two potential
cost impacts with this requirement: Cost of Annual Inspection Painted tower owners must test
the fade of the paint and record the result annually. Since the FCC requires the test at the top of
the tower, a certified climbing crew is required. The tower crew cost is driven by the
mobilization requirements and the time it takes to do the test. If the tower is relatively close to
the tower crew, the cost may be $1,200, but estimate can be more costly depending upon tower
location, height and type. Tower repaint may be required The annual paint inspection may
indicate that the tower needs to be repainted. The cost range for a tower repaint are as specified
above. Options to Not Paint Your Tower Anymore: One option to eliminate the cost of periodic
paintings is to get a new determination from the FAA to a tower style which is marked with
obstructions lights during the day as opposed to paint marking. For

What Is Abortion A Right Choice
Abortion:
Abortions being such a controversy topic leads to people s opinions being exposed with no intent.
Abortion is defined as: the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or

during the first 12 weeks of gestation miscarriage, the induced expulsion of a human fetus, or the
expulsion of a fetus by a domestic animal often due to infection at any time before completion of

Abortions being illegal means they were very unsafe. Due to the lack of medical education the
process of abortion was extremely risky and made the procedures such as surgeries difficult.
Eventually medical advancements were made but unfortunately women were still forced to rely

to be performed by a physician only in order for them to carefully practice to potentially save

the Supreme Court ruling that Americans right to privacy included the right of a woman to decide
whether to have children, and the right of a woman and her doctor to make that decision without

The Causes Of Short Stories
Unease. Thrilling. Surprise. These are simply three feelings tossed at the reader in a one page story.
Short short stories often have the effect of making the reader feel uneasy. When stories are short, a
writer tends to jump directly into the story with something interesting or alarming to grab the reader
s attention. Quite often, the more uneasy the writing, the more it leaves an effect on the reader.
Sudden Fictionis a book filled with a collection of short stories from different authors; the
maximum length of a story is three pages long. This not only causes the reader to feel ???? with the
content, but also uncomfortable with the title of the literary work. Without a doubt, the short story
that made me feel the most uneasy was Reading the Paper . On the other hand, the story that I felt
more comfortable reading was The Reunion .
First of all, Reading the Newspaper is about a women s average day, or at least it seems to be
average from the way the writer portrays it. When she is talking to several people about the death
of her family members, who had died the previous night, she is washing the blood stains out while
doing her the laundry. This becomes shocking to a reader to read that someone is functioning as if
something horrific did not happen. Typically, someone who has lost their family members, like this
character, would not be in the right state of mind to do her laundry. One could assume that she is
clearly traumatized. In addition to that, another

The Representation Of Villains In Disney s Film, Big Hero
Just looking at it, Disney s film Big Hero 6 is another representation of superheroes vs. mad
scientist villains. A 14 year old prodigy named Hiro teams up with a group of friends from his
nerd school to take down a villain. This movie has an amazing script and an even better voice
cast. It sounds and looks fantastic, Disney s new technologies helped the movie achieve its
creative quality. But even though this movie is different. We all have heard this same story
before. This film takes the typical story line of a superheroes tale and mixes in creative themes
that go against the typical assumptions of the genre. This film shows us how it is a better choice

Hiro finds a way to override Baymax programming which then turns Baymax to a crime fighting
killing machine. In one of the most emotional scenes of the film, Baymax becomes the
instrument of revenge that Hiro wanted him to be. Baymax was meant to heal and mend
people. He then later learned to fight, but that is not who Tadashi created him to be. This movie
argues that violence is not something natural but rather a learned behavior, we must be
reprogrammed to accept it. The rest of the film reinforces the idea of the characters to find ways
to stop the villain without using violence. The best of the villains are the ones who believe that
what they are doing is a just cause. In Big Hero 6 , the masked man s motive for having stolen
Hiro s microbots is understandable: he needs them to save a life. Nevertheless revenge is not
justice, despite the villains deeper motives he is still a bad man. But the villain s backstory and
motives pull at our heartstrings and it is indeed hard not to have empathy for him. By creating a
villain whose intentions were nothing more than misguided grief, the film teaches the audience a

Emily Dickinson s Poetry Essay
The large amount of poems in Dickinson s collection containing the theme of death is impossible to
be overlooked. Approximately one third from her entire collection speaks about the subject,
something that for many decades has intrigued fans and scholars alike. In order to understand this
fixation, one must study the poet s upbringing and religious conflicts, which are unequivocally at
the center of this fascination with the theme of death.
Consider by many as the best and least known major American author (Eberwein 1), Dickinson love

When someone tells you to think of a sport I m sure the first thing that comes to mind is football, or
basketball, or maybe baseball. But what about cheerleading? When you think of cheerleading do
you just think of it as an activity that consists of chants on the sidelines with big pom poms, or do
you think of it as a sport with extreme stunting such as tumbling, mounting, and tossing? The
question of whether or not cheerleadingis or should be recognized as an official sport has been
debated since 1997 and still makes its way to court every few years. Throughout this research
paper I will explore the question of what defines a sport and whether or not cheerleading should be
considered one.
Currently there are three different types of cheerleading you can participate in. The first form of
cheerleading is Sideline Cheerleading (High School/ College Cheer). Sideline cheerleading s
primary purpose is to serve as support group for athletic programs in the school, as well as
entertaining the crowd through cheers, stunts, and dance. Competitive Cheerleading (All star
/ College Cheer) is the second form of cheerleading and can be a mix of school squads and all star
gym squads. For competitive cheerleading you compete against other squads or gyms with a two
minute and thirty second routine. In these routines, the cheerleaders perform extreme tricks and
higher level stunting and tumbling than sideline cheer in hopes of getting the highest scores
possible. The last form of

Democratic Peace
Paper: Intro. Many different explanations have been brought forth to explain why democracies do
not fight one another . Among academics, the most prominent theories can be divided among three
schools of thought: liberal institutionalist, realist, and liberal constructivist. Beyond academia, often
simplified interpretations of these theories have guided many Great Powers foreign policy
decisions. This paper will first seek to outline what most academics agree to be the empirical
correlations between democracies and war. This paper will then outline and examine the competing
theories behind the Democratic Peace. This paper will argue that although some of the realist
critiques are plausible and should not be entirely dismissed, the liberal constructivist theories offer
the most accurate explanation of why the Democratic Peace exists. This paper will finish by
examining the foreign policy implications of this thesis, with reference to recent and potentially
future military engagements undertaken by today s democratic Great Powers. Despite originally

The Role Of Mary Warren In The Crucible
Mary Warren, like many of the other characters in Arthur Miller s The Crucible, shows great
internal conflict with fear through their actions that play a large role in the Salem Witch Trials.
Mary Warren is a very shy, naive and lonely seventeen year old girl. Although she has a clear
sense of honesty and guilt, she winds up playing a significant role in the trials. Mary Warren does
not show up in the play as much as the other characters, but Arthur Miller uses her to portray a
bigger and more important idea. Through Mary Warren, Arthur Miller shows how people are
greatly manipulated by fear which holds a substantial amount of control over them and their
actions, affecting the events of mass hysteria. Like many others, one of Mary s greater fears

Abigail, they will surely turn against her and accuse her of witchcraft. Although Mary is the
oldest in the group, Abigail gains control over her by using Mary s fear to her advantage.
Another example, while speaking with Mr.Proctor after the arrest of Goody Proctor, Mary

Escape The War Zone Essay
Escape the War Zone The War Zone (Tim Roth, 1999) narrates a story of a fifteen year old
teenager named Tom, whose life drastically changes right after his family moves from London to a
small town with no kith nor kin. Tom considers his new home a prison and develops a strong
abhorrence to his father after discovering the latter to have been raping Tom s older sister, Jessie,
while Tom s mother prefers not to pay attention to what is happening around, devoting herself to a
newborn child. Unveiling the tragedy within the ordinary English family, The War Zone highlights
the conflict of reasoning and emotion which appears as a response to the problem of incest and
rape. The film s exposition sets a depressing mood from the beginning. The opening tracking shot
depicts Tom rushing off the hill along the asphalt road, replaced by a bumpy path which leads to a
jail like house, indicating metaphorical running towards tribulation. Steadily dull weather without
any glimpse of sunlight insinuates the apathetic sentiment within the family. Remarkably, Tom s

The Washington Redskins Should Change Their Name
The debate about whether or not the Washington Redskins should change their name has been a
topic for a long time. Some Native Americans have often considered the name a racial slur and
think that the league should get rid of the name as it doesn t represent Native Americans in the
best way possible. In 1937 the Redskins moved to Washington and decided to retain the name
even though it had faced backlash then. Since then the team has over time shown more caution
on using slogans that may disrespect Native Americans. Some slogans they did use include On
the Warpath, with a cartoon drawing of an angry Indian, and another called Teepee Talk,
featuring a clip art Indian sticking his head out of a tepee (Shapira, 2016, Para.5). There will
always be a debate if the team should get rid of its name but for right now Washington s football
teams name is the Redskins. In Washington they took a poll asking Native Americans if they
were offended by the name Redskins. The poll Showed that 90% of Native Americans did not feel
offended by the team name, in fact they thought that it showed respect to their heritage. But on the
other hand when they took a poll across the whole nation people were a little more disgruntled
with the name as 23% of people wanted the name to be changed. The Post poll also found that 78
percent deemed the Redskins name an issue that is either not too or not at all important (Keim,

Why Was The Truman Doctrine Created
During World War II President Harry Truman was kept in the dark about various things. It wasn
t until after Franklin Roosevelt died that Truman even learned that America had created atomic
weapons. He also did not know that we were at the edge of a nuclear outburst with Russia. After
he became president, the Truman Doctrine was created. While the Truman Doctrine was created
with good intentions, it ultimately led us to the Vietnam War and kept us there longer than we
should have been. After World War II America was once again trying to find a way to prevent
Germany from starting another World War. While we failed to do that after World War I, we were
determined to get things right this time. This is how what came to be known as the Truman
Doctrine was formed. We believed that we could let the Soviet Union maintain their communism,
as long as it was contained. We agreed to help countries that were fighting to keep democracy. We
would give them financial support and military aid as long as they stood up against communism.

Middle English Research Paper
English started as a West Germanic language spoken in England attributable to migration from
the southern shores of the sea. The migrants are known as Anglo Saxons however there s doubt
on whether or not it s really their name. English shows a nearer respect to Frisian than to the
types of German spoken within the sea areas of Germany, even within the earliest times. The
stage of English from its creation by the Anglo Saxons to shortly after the Norman Conquest was
named Old English . The earliest English language was far more inflected than modern English;
it had a way smaller vocabulary with few loanwords from alternative languages and an easier
grammar structure. It s unrecognisable to modern English speakers nowadays. It was modified
an excellent deal over six centuries attributable to influences from multiple languages. Latin
loaned some words to germanic languages across the continent, and so most came to English
once the Anglo Saxons became Christianised. A number of this new vocabulary came from
Latin, Greek, and Old Norse, the language of the Norwegians who 1st raided as Vikings and later
came to settle. it was an analogous language to English however far enough away to mean there
had to be a compromise language created between Anglo Saxon and Norse individuals. this led to
plenty of vocabulary being ported from other Germanic languages to English. The era from 1100
to 1500 was dubbed Middle English. The language throughout this point 1st had to contend with
Anglo Norman, at the time the official language of the country, and there are few texts from the
late eleventh and twelfth centuries to inform us what English was like. It continued to be spoken
by the huge majority of the population and there was never in any danger of alternative languages
taking up. Norman French had a large vocabulary input into English at this point, and also the
combined influence of it and the earlier Norse weakened the inflectional system and led English
into a language that contained much fewer endings and and fixed word order. The Anglo Saxon
alphabet was slowly lost as they it was seen as inferior by French influenced writers, and instead
new French styled digraphs were introduced to spell sounds the old

Such objects as traffic lights and neon signs appear colored because the light that they give off
contains a limited range of wavelengths. However, most objects appear colored because their
chemical structure absorbs certain wavelengths of light and reflects others. When sunlight strikes a
carrot, for example, molecules in the carrot absorb most of the light of short wavelengths. Most of
the light of longer wavelengths is reflected. When these longer wavelengths of light reach our eyes,
the carrot appears orange.
An object that reflects most of the light of all wavelengths in nearly equal amounts appears white.

The roles of the eyes and brain. Our ability to see color depends on many highly complicated
workings of the eyes and brain. When we look at an object, light coming from the object enters
our eyes. Each eye focuses the light, forming an image of the object on the retina. The retina is a
thin layer of tissue covering the back and sides of the inside of the eyeball. It contains millions of
light sensitive cells. These cells absorb most of the light that falls on the retina and convert the light
to electrical signals. These electrical signals then travel through nerves to the brain.
The retina has two main types of

CDMA is the latest arbitration scheme for those SoC. CDMA arbiter has better channel isolation
and better channel continuity when compared to other arbitration schemes in SoC. CDMA arbiter
for a multimaster SoC system is proposed. This proposed CDMA arbiter overcomes various SoC
demands. This interconnect scheme meet the latency requirement when compared to the existing
CDMA based arbitration scheme. 1.INTRODUCTION Future SoC consists of many different
components. Main demand faced by this SoC is rapid transfer of data between these components.
Since it depends on rapid transfer of data latency becomes the main parameter. If the delay
associated with SoC increases it prohibits the scalability of a multimaster design. There is a
diminishing performance as more masters are interconnected. A high performance SoC should
handle numerous data transaction simultaneously. To achieve this high performance we go for

Strict Dress Code
What Can I Wear
What can I wear to work? Some employers have a strict dress code, while others are very laid
back. According to the type of business, the organization does could dictate the type of attire and
grooming that is expected from the organization. Does the employer have a right to tell you what
you can and cannot wear to work or even how to be groomed? In my opinion and through my
experiences in life I would say yes they do, they have a business to run, and customers require
certain expectations and those expectations are handed down to the employees. Employee rights
must be taking into consideration in the process, along with other reasons for the policies
implemented such as setting guidelines for dress and grooming that could be ... Show more content

However, we have issues occasionally and we handle those swiftly and consistently with all
employees. If we did not have these guidelines in place, we would have employees showing up
in flip flops to move pallets and heavy boxes with a high risk of foot injuries. Others would be
caught in the buffing wheel due to a loose tank top that had been cut down the side. How do I
know this? The reason I know this is because even with the policy we have in place these few
incidents have happened and the employees in both of these situations that I mentioned actually
had the accident described.
In addition, different businesses would require different standards and could have a much stricter
dress code policy. Employees that have direct interaction with the public should be well groomed
and dressed appropriately. The more formal or professional the culture the need is greater for a
policy governing hygiene and grooming along with dress code. In addition, organizations that
require work with heavy machinery and dangerous machinery requires standards to satisfy safety
hazards (Sussman, 2017). Keep in mind that employees have rights that need to be taken into

Time And Timeless Time
What Kenner fails to understand is Eliot is not having any superficial knowledge or understanding
of time and Timeless Time. He has a realisation that is more than just a glimpse. The moments of
intersection of Timeless Time and time have great significance in Eliot s poetry because the
consciousness of such moments comes when an individual is spiritually enlightened. He can
witness the source from which all time emerges and that source in itself is Eternal. The still point,
the Timelessness, the Divine, the Eteranl is the source. There is no other way with which an
individual can escape time and the suffering related to it. It is only Timeless Time that can liberate
an individual from time. Eternity is time s ultimate limit which in itself... Show more content on

Though he continued writing Poetic Dramas for many more years, but Four Quartets mark the
end of his regular poetry. He finished the Quartets on the peak of his spiritual realisation which
he tried to set as an example to be followed by the posterity. The last section of the Four Quartets
is considered as the greatest spiritual vision of Eliot. The very opening words Midwinter spring
does not signify any paradox that Eliot would relish but is symbolic of spiritual renewal and
revitalisation in midst of a spiritual barrenness caused by the World Wars. He felt the pressure of
the social and political events that were taking their toll on the psyche of the common man. Like
everyone else in this period, his life became one of monotony and anxiety, caught in the middle
period when pre war life seemed unreal and post war life unimaginable. (Ackroyd 1984: 264) The
interplay of the dualities is shown, but there is more of harmony in it than any kind of opposition.
There is an impossible union; the contraries like frost and fire are brought together to be resolved.
Metaphorically, their fusion signifies the advent of an eternal spring where the contraries, even the

The Exploitation Of The Natural Environment
Despite the fact that efforts were made in the past to entrench the rights of the people, people are
still born into a miserable life with no possibilities of escaping of poverty, while others may inherit
fortunes and financial freedom empires. Inequality, like the gap between the rich and the poor, has
never been as critical as it is a present. Unfortunately, the future does not appear to be bright if the
degrading activities of the natural environment continues(7), the expanding shortage of resources,
overpopulation especially in under developing countries as well as the apathy of the majority of
the world brings even worse issues of poverty.
Many under developed countries are trapped in poverty because of the shortage of raw materials,
being forced to resort to trade in order support themselves, as well as overexploitation of the limited
resources they posses. Unable to implement eco friendly technologies in the production processes
and therefore force to use hazardous and cheap methods of production, which is contributed further
degradation of the environment. For instance, many suffer from poverty live on soil that is not
fertile; as a consequence, they are forced to resort to intensive farming. This practice is damaging to
the environment and furthermore, these people do not have the financial means to improve the
technologies they use in agriculture or basis infrastructure in this aspect. As a result, they can only

APA Code Of Ethics In Organizational Psychology
Milestone Three
Vignette
Vignette 10 53, page 341, Professor Mann harangues Ms. Freeman for not understanding some
concepts in his organizational psychology course. He uses her questions to berate her, and all
women, claiming that women do not have a head for business or organizational psychology. His
discrimination against women is unethical, as is his abuse of power over his students (Koocher
Keith Spiegel, 2016).
The APA Code of Ethics Principles
1.Beneficence and Nonmaleficence
Psychological professionals need to help those with whom they work with or help, and make an
effort to do no harm. This includes conflict resolution with coworkers, student, clients, and
participants, as well as ensuring that any personal, financial, social, organizational or political
factors are considered (Code of Ethics, 2017). Professor Mann berated his student in front of his
class, he discriminated against women as a whole, and caused harm to the women s movement, as
well as the women in his class.
2.Fidelity and Responsibility
Professional psychologists understand their responsibility, both professional and scientific, within
the communities they live and work. They will behave in a professional manner, and accept
responsibility for their behavior. Professional psychologists are aware of, and abide by ethical
standards, and expect those they work with to, as well (Code of Ethics, 2017). Professor Mann did
not behave in a professional manner, and did not take responsibility

College Dorm Life
When considering about college, the first thing came to mind is life in a dormitory. I have heard
horror stories about living in dorms which made me anxious about my upcoming dorm life. What
would life be when living away from parents? What adjustments would require making from home
to dorm life? How would the balance of time when managing myself? New problems from dorm
ate and neighbors? What is it like to shower in a co ed bathroom? Countless questions have popped
in mind before I stepped in college. However, recalling from this one month of college life, I have
noticed some significant changes as I move out from the roof of parents and into a dorm room.
The Joe West Hall is one of the residential halls at San Jose State University which hosts
approximate 600 freshmen. It is considering the worst building here at SJSU since it is the only
building that without air condition. I have chosen to live in a double occupancy room in Joe
West under the choices of single, double and triple. When I first entered in my dorm, the
spacing is as small as I thought it would be before. Our dorm room is furnished with two twin
beds, desks, chairs, dressers, and closets. It is just a single small room which could fairly use by
myself. As the only child from home, my parents were worried that I would have trouble sharing
living space with someone else for the first time. However, I did manage not to have

Andean Cocaine Essay
Andean Cocaine traces the obscure processes and transformations of the global coca and cocaine
commodity chain. Gootenberg documents the lore of the Andean coca leaf, the birth of cocaine as
a medical commodity, the early twentieth century decline cocaine, and its reemergence as a global
illicit good following World War II. The commodity chain of cocaand cocainebegan with the
extraction of alkaloidal cocaine from the dried Andean coca leaf. This discovery by German
doctoral student Albert Niemann would soon transform cocaine into a world drug commodity.
Initially, cocaine was essential as a high value medical commodity. Medical uses of cocaine
included treatment of opiate addiction, hay fever, asthma, or other respiratory ailments. Cocaine s
greatest medical impact in the United States was as a local anesthetic during surgery. In Europe,
cocaine s commodity chain was defined by the coca elixir Vin Mariani developed by Corsican
physician and chemist Angelo Mariani. Cultivated by Peruvian and Bolivian peasants living in the
Andean Mountains, the coca leaf would be dried and shipped to the United States or Europe for
refining. Due to the herb s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

salinger Essay
LIFE AND PHILOSOPHY OF J.D. SALINGER
J.D. Salinger is one of the most renowned writers of his time. J. D. Salinger is most known for
his controversial in the Catcher in the Rye. Salinger is also known for many of his writings such
as Franney and Zooey, Nine Stories, and Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters. The summer of
1930 he was voted The Most Popular Writer . Salinger is a beautifully deft, professional who gives
us a chance to catch quick, half amused, half frightened glimpses of ourselves and our
contemporaries, as he confronts us with his brilliant mirror images (Lomazoff 1). In the novel,

In the mid 1940 s Zen Buddhism began to influence Salinger s life and writings. Also, in the early
50 s Salinger met frequently met with teenagers while writing Catcher. These influences, and
also the fact that he was an unknown writer made him free from clichГ©s and slogans that the
rest of the world fell prey to. Salinger only seeked independence, growth, and stability in his life.
Because Salinger was not a renowned writer, he did not have to worry about meeting
expectations or censorship. Salinger would never try to censor himself, and felt that he should
not have to. He frequently speaks of a phony society in which we all live in and in order to be
accepted into the adult world, we must become a phony . Being a phony meaning, adjusting
yourself to become what is socially acceptable even though it may not be what you desire to
achieve.
His work is a unique phenomenon, important as the voice of a silent generation in revolt against a
phony world and in search of mystical escapes from a deteriorating society rather than causes
promising political revolution or reform (French 4).
Many of Salingers views for The Catcher in the Rye come from his intense hatred for hypocrisy. In
the novel, Holden Caulfield feels that he must not submit to the phoniness of life, but attain an
attitude of tolerance, understanding, and live which will make his life endurable.

Biomass densification by screw briquetting produces uniform, dense and durable solids desirable
for gasification, process heating, power generation and other heating applications which are
currently run by coal. Due to high wear rate, the screw and mould used for forming the briquettes

If the excess biomass materials are compacted to briquettes near their source they can be
transported to longer distances, stored for more duration unaffected much by humidity [9] and
put into versatile uses. There are many methods of densification available and screw briquetting
is one good choice for producing high quality briquettes, a sample of which is shown in fig 2.
These types of briquettes have uniform dimensions, high calorific value, less moisture are
desirable feed stock for gasification systems, process heating and power generation applications.
But the screw briquetting technology is having its own shortcomings like, the life of its parts like
screw and mould are very short due to high wear rate, need of skilled labors to run the machine
and wastage of energy for heating the raw material and the mould. The heating process is needed
to eliminate moisture and volatile matters and to melt the lignin content in the raw material which
acts like a binder. The quality of briquettes produced justifies the use of skilled labor. Due to high
wear rate of screw and mould particularly the screw which have very short life about 4 to 15 hrs
[10] there are regular stoppages of production, reconstruction of tools and wastage of
output.Research works are going on all over the world in designing compact briquetting machines,

Body Image In The Fashion Industry
The fashion industry
Under society s norms for decades, young women have been put under the pressure and
anticipation to have perfect bodies. That is, thin and curved, beautified by applying pounds of
the makeup to their face but not appear ridiculously overdone. Who s responsible for these
standards imposed on young women? When a young girl picks up the model along the cover of
Vogue being called flawless, it s easy for her to then aspire to be a real life imitation of the
photocopy. These companies produce magazine covers shown with girls images daily. As if
keeping the perfect body wasn t hard enough our culture also forces girls into the forever
expanding world of composition, however, body image is a pressing issue for young women.
Advertisements and posters of skinny female models are all over. Young girls not only could be
better but need to be more upright and feel driven to throw the perfect figure. Moreover, girls are
evaluated and oppressed by their physical appearances. With supplements and apparel designed to
enhance a facial expression; social media, magazines, and marketing campaigns and advertisements
add to the burden of perfection. The fashion industry is a prime object of body image issues, as
they believe clothes look better on tall and svelte women. Established on a survey participated by
13 to 17 year old in the U.S., 90% felt pressured by fashion and media industries to be skinny , with

For a more thorough understanding of this lab introduction, the concepts of, iso osmolar,

point in which the substance of experimentation faces no change despite the amount of solute
inside the solvent( because the solvent and solute concentration is equal. This is where the line on

The result showed the affects of osmosis, where particles moved to achieve equilibrium. The 0.2
M sucrose had a +8.37% change in mass as a class average and our group and +9.52%. The
initial mass for these carrots were 2.1g and became 2.3g when the 2 days had ended. This
happened because of the same reason for the 0.0 M sucrose, where the concentration of particles
were greater inside the cell compared to the outside of the cell, causing the water molecules
moving into the cell through the semi permeable membrane. However, the solution the carrots
were dunked into had a 0.2 M sucrose, unlike the first solution. This caused the mass of the
carrot to change less because there was already some particles outside of the cell, allowing for
equilibrium to become reached a lot faster than 0.0 M sucrose. In 0.4 M sucrose, there was a
class average of 2.34% and we had 4.76%. The initial mass was 2.1g with a final mass of 2.0g.
This was the first solution to have a negative percentage change in mass from the other six. There
was a decrease in mass of the carrot because water had moved from the carrot sticks into the
solution around is trying to achieve equilibrium. The water molecules had moved from high

Basic indexes of technology: The most important indexes in technology are productivity, reliability,
and economy of operation. The productivity denotes the quantity of goods produced, processed, or
shipped per unit time. The reliability of technology is characterized by the capacity to produce
itemized quantity of goods without interruption. As the name suggest economy of the operation is
determined by the consumption of materials, power and by the cost of supporting facilities
necessary for the operation to take place. The indexes of any operation can be improved by
perfecting the design of the working elements and by automating operational processes which is
nothing but modernization. The life of any technology can be improved by well timed
modernization which ensures that the technology meets the demand of technical and scientific
progress.

Butterfly Circus is a 20 minute dramatic short film which is a testament to the power of hope
and faith in oneself. It is a wonderful reflection of the themes of good and evil, man vs. man, man
vs. himself and hope conquers all. It can be viewed as a religious film but need not be. If you
believe in yourself, you will be saved.

Rather than raise the issue of racism the film makers have chosen to use Will as a symbol of
those who may not fit in those who do not feel they have a purpose in life. Racism is a non issue

Topic
The topic of those marginalized can be discussed within the context of current society. Will
believes he is the man even God has turned his back on in his physical limitations. While touring
with the Butterfly Circus Will realizes he can overcome his physical disabilities and swim it is
through this baptism by water, the very act of swimming, he is reborn and realizes his potential.
The caterpillar becomes a butterfly.
Cultural
The culture of American society during the Great Depression can be examined. The
hopelessness and loss of innocence is an excellent teaching opportunity to discuss what exactly
defines a person. How would the students handle the loss of their money, jobs and their homes?
The culture of those marginalized and important societal norms within the can also be examined.
Are disabled people more respected in certain societies? Does Will consider himself disabled by
the end of the film? The culture of the group vs the individual, man vs. society as larger issues
can also be developed as topics along with the theme of hope and rebirth . Do most teenagers feels
