Explain The Arguments For The Use Of The Term Renaissance
The argument for the use of the term Renaissance is made by defining the Renaissance as a global
expansion of the western world as a whole. Jerry Brotton uses many different portraits and
literature, to make the assumption that the Renaissance was much bigger than just Western Europe.
The difference in this argument are the advancements in technology and ideals in Western Europe
that changed the world. The most significant invention for communication perhaps of all of time
would be the printing press. The printing press came about in 1450s, due to the collaboration of
Johann Fust, Johann Gutenburg, and Peter Schöffer. The printing press was revolutionary at this
time sparking literacy and giving people a voice. Brotton mentions how by

Prescription Medical Research Paper
Young or old, we have all once used homemade remedies to heal burns, get out stains, or relieve
treacherous acne, but what if those silly tricks went a step further and cured critical illnesses? At
the start of the American society, before the increased technological and medical advances, the ill
did not have the convenient access to a drugstore located on almost every corner to pick up Tylenol
or Nyquil; they lived a holistic lifestyle. By having this, holistic approach to life, equilibrium of the
mind, body, and the environment, and an emphasis on health rather than on disease, (United States)
ancient society focused on their bodies rather than the illness they possessed. People in current
society should begin to shift into the use of natural... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because there is not a treatment for all modern diseases, it is not necessarily classified as a
reliable source for the population, for now. Holistic medication is often prominent in other
countries throughout the world and is currently spreading in the United States. It is often said in
lesser developed countries that if there s a disease on this earth, then there s a cure for it
somewhere in nature (Krivyanski). Similar to the modern medical industry today, they are still
trying to find cures for cancer, newfound diseases, etc. and the same can be said for holistic
medications. Though the country had started out with this way of life, it got overshadowed and
lost in the sea of advancement, but now that people are not content with the uncontrollable medical
field, they re drifting back to old ways. Similar to scientific researchers finding new cures for the
future, holistic doctors have to dig up old cures from the

Discrimination In Maya Essay
Levels of discrimination against girls and the indigenous populations in Guatemala are so high that
native girls experience four times more discrimination than non native males. (Sanghee and
Youngran 132). The United Nation s role in helping alleviate this discrimination is by providing
children access to educationthrough the United Nations Children s Fund (UNICEF). UNICEF
efforts in the Maya populations of Guatemala cannot go unnoticed through its facilitation of
multilateral engagement between non governmental organizations and local community
organizations. UNICEF has worked alongside, assisting Programa Maya in ...areas with
significantly large indigenous populations as well as poverty... which has persevered ...in
cooperation with the Ministry of Education in Guatemala, the Norwegian government, UNHCR,
and UNDP (Sanghee and Youngran 137).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These efforts are not only felt in Maya communities, but in indigenous populations all over the
world. Evidence of this can be felt by the new zeitgeist that propelled indigenous communities to
demand recognition of rights which, after an arduous battle, materialized in the form of the United
Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (Oldham 9).
The Declaration that many years ago, civil society members and indigenous communities could
only dream of being recognized, the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People, is a hallmark
of the evolving world order towards human rights recognition. One metric in which one can
measure the progress and effectiveness of the United Nations, is in its capacity to

Gertrude Stein Research Paper
Gertrude Stein
Gertrude Stein is one of the most celebrated authors and patrons of the arts. She encouraged,
influenced and aided many literary and artistic figures through her support, investment and writings.
Stein was born on February 3, 1874 into upper middle class surroundings in Allegheny,
Pennsylvania. When she was 3 years old the family moved to Vienna and then on to Paris before
returning to America in late 1878. Gertrude and her brother Leo became very close although he was
two years her senior. They found like interests and became devoted allies through much of their
early lives. Stein was eight years old when she made her first attempt at writing. Reading became an
obsession for her beginning with Shakespeare and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rumors of war began to surface by early 1914 as Germans marched toward Paris. In March,
Gertrude and Alice left Paris after a series of bombing alerts and zeppelin raids. They returned in
1916 and decided to help out with the war efforts by joining the American Fund for French
Wounded.[6]
In 1933, Stein published Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas which really was her own
autobiography. It became a best seller in the United States and elevated Stein s celebrity. Many
articles were published and she made a lot of money. Although hesitant at first because she did not
know how she would be received, Stein went on a lecture tour across America. She was welcomed
with open arms everywhere she went.
Upon returning to France in the spring of 1935 Gertrude and Alice went to their country home in
Bilignin for some privacy, away from Gertrude s new found celebrity status and rumors of war
started again. In addition to this, the landlord of 27 rue de Fleurus did not renew their lease, as his
son wanted to move into the apartment. They reluctantly relocated to another apartment on
Germain Street in Paris. I guess 27 got so historical, it just could not hold us any longer,[7] she
said[8].
While in Bilignin during the summer of 1939 the war was quickly approaching.

Foundation, Foundation and Empire, and Caves of Steel, by...
Everyone is faced with difficult obstacles at some point in his or her life, whether or not they are
able to overcome them can define them as a person. Every story has a plot, but a plot is determined
by the characters and their actions to events that take place in the story. According to the article
Science FictionImages of Computers and Robots written by Patricia S. Warrick, many of the plots
in Asimov s novels depend on computers and robots [along with] space exploration and
development (54). Characters in the novels written by Isaac Asimovhave to figure out the
capabilities of new technology, understand other characters, and find solutions to problems with no
end in sight. Characters actions and responses to problems play large... Show more content on

The author will present the characters to readers and tell the readers a little bit about the main
characters. Then, to make the story interesting, the author will introduce his or her readers to the
main conflict. Secondly, the suspense will rise in the story as the conflict is trying to be
resolved. Next, the characters in the story will reach the climax where they will change in some
way, good or bad. At the climax of the story, the reader will be given many hints and clues as to
what will happen at the end of the story. Finally, the resolution to the conflict is given to the
average reader, but the advanced reader had already analyzed the information he or she was given
and figured out how the story had ended. In The Science Fiction of Isaac Asimov, Joseph F.
Patrouch explains that Asimov follows the standard pattern of presenting a [character] with a
problem, letting the reader....accumulate data, [allow the character find the solution to the
conflict],....and finally letting the [character] reveal the solution to [the reader] (72). What makes
Asimov s plots much more interesting is that he has different parts to his novels that may take
place decades and even centuries apart. Also, Asimov will use the dialog of the characters to move
the plot along instead of action scenes. With the creation of civilization on a new planet, the first
mayors of Terminus were faced with the problem of other planets trying to invade and take their

Public Safety Management At Public Service
Public Safety Leadership
Unit 8 Assignment 1
Ann Marie Cameron
Capella University
Dr. O Connor
June 7, 2015
Introduction
In today s world a leader in any position must lead, but a leader in the public safety field must be
capable of managing, as well as being able to understand and identify a crisis. Within the public
safety arena having this type of leadership skills have become progressively necessary as global
disasters and other crisis has been on the rise in the past decade. Nonetheless, leaders that tackle
the crisis leadership concept sometimes tends to mainly focus on how crisis organization is
perceived verses focus on the associations which is more of a tactical way of leadership.
The purpose of this study is to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We also hope that the research will define how often we should conduct this type of research since
it is so rarely conduct, this way we will be able to have more of a statistical overview of this
research.
Literature Review
For this research literature review we opted to set our context of this research that will concentrate
on two questions which are: 1) Crisis leadership, and 2) leadership issues that might occur during a
crisis and the organizations differentiating goals.
Understanding the meaning of Crisis leadership Before we move on with our research we need to
define what crisis leader should do. Well, James and Wooten (2005), states that a crisis leader
should always be scanning the environment to detect signals of crisis. Therefore, once a leader has
detected a crisis, then the leader should implement steps that should include: containment and
damage control for their communities safety; prevention and preparation; learning from past
events; and recovery. There are some leaders that believe that not all public safety leaders have
learned their lesson from other analyzation or research studies on crisis. Thereby, crisis leadership
requires that decision to be made quickly to limit damage to the community, employees,
stakeholders, and organization ( Crisis Management , n.d.). So, if we cannot prevent this type of

Success Is Counted Sweetest
Only those who have experienced failure can truly appreciate success, is the central theme that
Emily Dickinson follows in her poem entitled Success is counted sweetest. This theme is
manifested not only through her encouraging tone, but also through several literary devices, such
as imagery, metaphors and allusions. Dickinson begins the poem by restating the title, which is
followed by an example where nectar symbolizes success. Next, she writes about a solider that
hears the winning team celebrating. However, he hears the victorious group as he is lying on the
ground dying. From this, some may say that the poem is about how people who have been defeated,
appreciate success more than those who simply win. Although, this is not... Show more content on

So clear of victory. From the start Dickinson is talking about the soldiers who have died. Then
she addresses how the soldiers that lived can not begin to fathom the value of success since they
were able to go home. They did not lose their lives as other soldiers did, and the ones who did
could only wish to exchange places with the ones who survived. In addition to Dickinson using
tone to emphasize her point, she also incorporated various literary devices, similar to imagery,
metaphors and allusions. Imagery can be found in the last two lines when she wrote, The distant
strains of triumph, Burst agonized and clear! This gave a direct visual of a man listening to the
sound of victory in the near distance, as he laid motionless on the floor. This invokes a feeling of
sorrow within the readers, since they can envision what Dickinson is talking about. A metaphor is
demonstrated in the lines two and three when she says, To comprehend a nectar, Requires sorest
need. In this instance, nectar symbolizes success. Thus, in order for anyone to reap victory, they
must overcome an obstacle. Yet, to fully interpret this, one has to analyze the meaning of the
metaphor, which makes the readers think deeper and enables the to get a better understanding of
message that is being portrayed. In the same way, the allusions were applied

Soft Rock Influence
The thing I find most crazy is how much influence political, economic, and civil difficulties had
on rock music. The five major rock styles came to be because of the violence during protest and
economic troubles of a post war United States. Soft rock was created for people how were
getting tired of the violence of the protest at the time. With the murder of Dr. Martin Luther King
Jr. and the shooting of four Kent State University student protesters. Soft rock has themes of life,
love, and relationships. Some of the most influential musicians of soft rock were James Tylor,
Carly Simon, and Carole King. Soft rock was influenced by folk protest song and being tired of the
violence, and glam rock was influenced by the world s problems after the war.... Show more content

The musicians of glam rock wore extremely glittery and loud costumes. Themes of glam rock
were sexuality, masculinity, and femininity. The big singers of glam rock were The Velvet

embraced the self indulgent side of the post war time; Heavy metal music was brought to be by
the angry and frustrated people of the time. Heavy metal is extremely loud with screaming
vocals. Famous heavy metal bands were Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. These two bands
where not loved by the music media, and were often characterized as satanic. Black Sabbath was
named the princes of darkness. I listen to all types of music, but I really like heavy metal. I tend to
listen to what most people call screamo. Progressive rock was music for the artist and people trying
to make rock more artistic. Progressive rock was a way to for musician to be more creative and
express themselves in many ways. This style of rock did have a lot of criticism for being a group
that was against sociality and high culture status. Famous bands for progressive rock were Yes,

Transition from Socialism to Capitalism in Bosnia
CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION Capitalism and socialism, as two major economic systems, have
shaped the past century to a great extent. After many wars and political games, it seems that the
battle between the two systems has come to an end. Capitalism proved to be the stronger system
and, as a result, globalization became the most descriptive attribute of the world economy in the
current century. Most of the socialist countries decided, or were forced, to start a painful process of
transition, which would enable them to become capitalist countries in the future. The countries in
transition have had to deal with numerous problems such as political and economic pressure from
other countries, corruption at all levels of political and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The last part investigates the problem of corruption and other political factors that are a current
impediment to transition. At the end, subjective conclusions will be made about whether
transition itself is worthwhile. Each reader is welcome to draw his or her own conclusions.
Whether transition is worthwhile is a question that will be approached from the people s point of
view and it will rely on comparison between Bosnia s economic performance and the living
standard in the country before and during transition. It will also consider future estimates. Political
events that affected the process of transition will be taken into consideration because of their
enormous relevance. Hopefully, the conclusions will be unbiased and provide important
considerations relevant to Bosnia s future. CHAPTER 2 POLITICAL BACKGROUND Bosnia
before World War I Islamization The focus of this thesis is the transition of Bosnia from socialist
to capitalist economy, but in order to fully understand it, one must be familiar with some of the
historical events particular to Bosnia. The single most important historical trend is certainly the
Islamization of Bosnia. Although the Serbian people consider the Battle of Kosovo in 1389 to be
the beginning of this process, only decades and centuries to come marked a significant increase in
the number of Muslims in Bosnia. The primary source of information on population and especially

How Did Stephen Covey Become Successful
Andrew Allen Professor Mike Maggio ENG 112 02/14/2015 Stephen Covey, the Genius of
Success A philosopher of success and mentor known to many, Stephen Covey, was one of the
most influential people in the world. He was born on October 24, 1932 and died on July 12,
2012. Covey was a prominent American teacher, writer, businessman, and speaker. Stephen
Covey believed in principle centered leadership and taught that it was the key to happiness and
success. Covey showed a great deal of commitment to his teachings and hoped they would help
others find success and meaning in life. The way he approached his principles was empowering
because it related to all types of students whether they were looking to learn about religion,
politics, philosophy, or lifestyle, and the list goes on. This inspired humans, not only in America
but across the globe as well, to read and learn about his insightful and powerful teachings. He
portrayed a clear message to achieving success not by luck, but with the power of universal
principles. Stephen Covey traveled to many different countries, and he taught people different
values like, For true success and meaning in life, we must be principle centered in all areas of life,

Civil Disobedience Positive For Society
Many people ask what civil disobedience is. Civil disobedience, or peaceful resistance, is the act of
peacefully or nonviolently breaking a law that is viewed as unjust or unfair. In some people s eyes,
civil disobedience is a positive for society, but in other people s eyes it is negative. In my eyes, civil
disobedienceis a positive for society for many reasons. Civil disobedience is positive because it
can bring a problem, that some people may view as unimportant, to the eyes of others. Over the
past few years, many young African American Men have been shot by police. The loved ones of
these men have practiced civil disobedience to show disapproval for the injustice the police have
done to their loved ones. In Ferguson, Missouri, the family of Michael Brown started the protests
in a civil manner and the problem was resolved in a quick manner. These events in Ferguson,
Missouri show how civilly protesting a wrong doing can bring a problem to the public eye so it can
be resolved quickly.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Fall Of The Roman Empire Essay
Fall of the Roman Empire
The Roman empire was one of the most powerful and greater empires of its time during the late
antiquity period. The Roman empire was divided into an east and west. The Western Empire would
last until 467 C.E., while the Eastern Empire would stand through the next century. Although the
Western Empire outlasted the Eastern Empire it still faced its own challenges and would collapse
in 1453. Many historians have considered the fall of the Roman Empire and the reasoning behind
it. Edward Gibbon would be the first to propose his theories about the topic. Other historians such
as Peter Heather, Peter Brown, and Henri Pierenne have studied many sources and have come up
with their own theories. Considering all historians points of view, I think that Peters Heather s
ideologies make the most plausible case. Heather s used a wide spread of sources when he looked
at the fall of the Western Roman Empire. He took into consideration government and cultural stand
points. He also considers outsiders influence to be one of the main reasons the Western Empire fell.

Political Climate In Public Administration
In 1932, in response to the economic depression, President Franklin D. Roosevelt, promised the
people a new deal. The new deal was intended to provide much needed relief, recovery, and reform
to the American people, by seeking to stabilize the economy and provide jobs to those who were
suffering. It forced a change in the structure of American governmentand pushed it to play a bigger
role in the financing of social programs. This new reform changed how government functioned at
the state and federal levels and introduced new ideas of centralization, management, planning,
efficiency measurement, and new forms of social programs. It was during this time, that
management in the U.S., was recognized as its own discipline and introduced the political approach
to public administration.

Ipv6 Advantages And Disadvantages
Abstract The transition between the IPv4 Internet today and the IPv6 Internet will be a long
process during both protocols coexists and also it is unreasonable to expect that many millions of
IPv4 nodes will be converted overnight. Mobility is becoming ubiquitous nowadays. This paper is
described about a background study of IPv4and IPv6, the needs of IPv6, transition mechanisms in
the various architectures, the advantages of IPv6 and limitations and comparison of the IPv4 and
IPv6 in five major areas; addressing and routing and network address translation. A study in this
paper explores that most research efforts were focused the transition strategies and mechanism to

The internet has been utilized not just in academic research but also widely used in daily life. In
nowadays, practically everyone seems to have access, through their PCs, laptop, television, phones,
or even the refrigerator. The growth of the Internet has created various impacts to end users. The
devices, which are connected to our network, caused new problems. One of the problems is the
shortage of Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. When a device needs to communicate over the Internet
with each other, it needs a unique IP address. Due to the issue of IP shortage, a new generation IP
has been introduced. The IPv6 is the solution.
IPv6 stands for Internet Protocol version 6. This protocol has been designed to replace the
existing Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4). (01033069). For more than twenty years, IPv4 has
been widely used in Internet activities around the world. The main reason for the deployment of
a new version IP is to increase the address space. IPv6 was designed to take an evolutionary step
from IPv4. According to experts in the field of computer network, over the next five to ten years,
IPv6 will gradually integrate into the existing IPv4

Racial Formation
The Racial Formations of the Model Minority and Assimilating Whites
We use the term racial formation to refer to the process by which social, economic and political
forces determine the content and importance of racial categories, and by which they are in turn
shaped by racial meanings. (Omi and Winant 14) Through observing certain events in the economy,
politics, and society, we can understand the unwanted ascribing of racial identities to the minorities
that led to their unfair treatment and discrimination. The underlying factors that led to this
utilization of racial formation were a scarcity of jobs, political policies to maintain power, and
racial division through class differences.
The Chinese migrants were a group of people who migrated to America roughly a year after the the
annexation of California. They were a people the leaders praised, would cultivate Californian land
and develop the railroads that would connect the Atlantic states to what the fathers envisioned as the
great emporium of commerce and trade. The turmoil on their native land was the biggest factor in
their emigration out of China.
They were initially referred to as guest up until there was a scarcity of jobs. Unfortunately for the
Chinese, the rapidly changing economic climate had molded their racial formation. Nativist began
to fight back against the Chinese once they realized that they working against these people for jobs.

Access Controls Provide A Mechanism
Introduction
Access Controls provide a mechanism, which allows an administrator to ensure that appropriate
techniques are in place to control how users interact with an IT system. It provides an avenue where
restrictions can be developed, specifying what a user can do, the resources they can access, and the
functions they can execute on a system. It is aligned with the three main security principles;

One of the difficulties in managing this access arises from the need to provide a variety of user

to manage this access should be defined by one or more of the following frameworks; Role Based
Access Control (RBAC), Discretionary Access Controls (DAC), Mandatory Access Control (MAC),
and Mandatory Access Control (MAC).
Statement of Purpose
The current state of the organization s access control management system is consistent with that of
the DAC model. A recent move to outsource certain business practices and continued
organizational growth has created an environment where increases in employee hiring s and
employee turnover are inevitable. An analysis of various methods of access control has been
requested, so that we can better understand how specific access control attacks are perpetrated and
their origin. Information will be collected and then analyzed in order to substantiate any
recommended changes to the current access control configurations. RBAC, DAC, and MAC will
be compared and contrasted, in order to gain insight, as to how each plays a role in reducing the
risk to a system, along with identifying the strengths and weaknesses of each. These results, along
with a detailed recommendation will be presented to executive management, in order to generate
the necessary support for altering the current program

Child s Ability Of Conservative Thought
Homework Assignment #2 Jean Pigiat, a Swiss psychologist and philosopher, theorized that
children all go through cognitive developmental stages. These stages differed by age as well as
cognitive reasoning. The Sensorimotor Stage, 0 2 years, focused on the child s ability or lack of
rather to understand object permanence. The second stage, described as the Preoperational Stage,
focused on children of the spanning the ages of 2 7 years old. In this group the children
understood object permanence however could not transform those images or ideas in their mind.
The Concrete Operations stage occurred between the ages of 7 and 11 years old and was defined
by the child s ability of conservative thought. These children developed the capacity to... Show

If you were to try to explain it to them, the child may become frustrated and angry as their stage
may not allow that concept. As any parent can attest, children at the age of three all have one
distinct personality trait in common; ego. They are completely egocentric and are unable to
understand the needs of others because it does not relate to their own. A child at this age may
look at their own plate at dinner and see a full plate. Then, gazing upon another, notice it not as
full as their own. Since their own needs have been met, the child will assume that the needs of
others have also been taken care of. Another example of this egocentric personality is during a
movie when the child is jumping from seat to seat. While they can see the screen, other movie
goers may not. Building on this egocentric behavior, the child may also exhibit bad behavior to
achieve attention. By throwing tantrums, crying and getting hurt she will be doted on and her ego
will be sustained until she desires more attention. The child may also show separation anxiety if her
parents are away. Her thought process would not allow her to understand that, although she is of the
utmost of importance to her family, they may have other obligations. This anxiety could overwhelm
her with thoughts of being abandoned and never seeing her family again. Today, Piaget s theories
remain valuable however those that came after are building their own

In this case, the FSE (field service engineers) is an important part of the whole corporation and

What s more, the primary goal is to make customers satisfied, however, the way to check if
customers are satisfied is not direct enough, so they should find out some direct measures. The
company tried to use its six area method to speculate customer satisfaction, especially based on
the call back rate. This way is kind of indirect, if the company wants to know their customer
satisfaction, what about just ask their customers? In the case, when the IMMULITE 2000 is
going into work, the company was sometimes able to solve a problem before a customer was even
aware that it existed. This way is a direct way: solve the problem before a customer aware, and then
the customer would be happy about that.
2) Instead of using a results control system could DPC use action and/or personnel/cultural controls?
If so, what would such a system look like?
If not, why not?
DPC could not use action control or personnel/cultural control instead of using a results control
system like the performance bonus system.
Action control is more specific than result control. It focuses on the process of the whole thing
while result control is focuses on the result. To use action control, it is difficult for managers to
distinguish good or bad behaviors, because the processes and jobs are so varied. Action control

Taoism And Confucianism Similarities
From our class, there are three major religions in China, Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism.
Unlike Buddhism, both of Taoism and Confucianism were found in China, therefore most of these
two religions are similar, but some of them are different, such as beliefs. The reason is that these
two religions were found by different people, so that they have different understanding of life and
world.
Both of Taoism and Confucianism were found at the similar age, but different leaders lead these
two religions to have different concepts. Taoism was found by Lao Tzu, who was a curator of Chou
dynasty. He emphasized that the close relationship between human and nature is the most important
concept in Taoism. Natural place such as mountains and rivers are ... Show more content on

Abortion Is A Right Of Privacy
It is obvious that abortion is a topic that includes many grey areas. Whether an abortion is a right
guaranteed to the mother, or if it is considered taking away the rights the of the unborn baby is
one of these grey areas. Pro choice supporters agree with the Roe v. Wade supreme court decision
because of the way it applies abortionto the constitution. According to the Internet site Pro Con,
the court case presented the idea that abortion fits under the right of privacy (1). By this, the
court system is saying that each woman should be granted the ability to do what she wishes
with her body. Although this right was not directly created for abortion, there are differing
opinions as to whether or not an abortion could fit into one s right of privacy. The term right of
privacy is extremely broad, but refers to the privacy granted to an individual from the
government. However, pro life supporters do not think this should be applied to an abortion,
especially because another human being s life is at stake. They believe that the fetus should
also be granted rights, as if they were a living human outside in the real world. Which is why
many pro life advocates make the argument that an abortion is killing a human being who cannot
defend themselves. Due to this belief, there are many states who have passed fetal homicide
laws (1). These were created to respect the rights of the child. As a woman who has become a
mother, it is one s responsibility to protect the human growing inside the womb; killing this
growing human being, who is yet unable to defend themselves, has no other definition than
murder. A common belief among pro choice supporters is that abortion cannot be murder because
life does not begin until birth. However, pro life believers say life begins at conception. Behind
this belief stands the idea that an abortion is taking away the life and rights of an living individual.
Since the day abortion became a vast issue, there has always been a lurking argument between the
pro life and pro choice supporters as to when life exactly begins. This argument came about because
pro choice supporters used the statement that life does not begin until birth to oppose the pro life
opinion that

Wine and the French Revolution
The popularity of wine in France continues to be a major mainstay in the French diet, just as it was
during the French Revolution. The French Revolution was a devastating time for the French
population; many lives were lost during the battle. France is known for, other than the revolution,
their production wine( French Wine Culture ). Wine has an important role in their culture as well as
their position on the social ladder ( France). Wine also has a symbolic role in their religion.
Therefore, France is a popular country for the making and producing of wine, and has the
reputation as the Mother Country ( French Wine Culture ). Receiving this title did not happen
overnight; France has been producing and manufacturing wine for a long period of time. Wine
plays roles in many aspects of their society. For example, wine reflects their heritage, region of
birth, social status, and their health ( France ). Wine resembles the differences between regions
and their national pride ( France ). Not only does the region reflect their heritage but it also helps
determine the name of the wine itself, as does the vineyard they are grown in ( French Wines ).
Most vineyards are very large. They typically cover a good portion of the land, with the exception
of the buildings that it is made in. Although France is known at the mother country as a whole,
there are still some regions that are more productive and successful at making and distributing wine.

M Ж’Г„ Ori Cultural Concepts Essay
Culture is not one distinct commodity. Culture is the integrated pattern of belief, human knowledge
and behaviour that has transcended through generations. MД Ѓori are the indigenous people of New

am focusing on the three I believe are most important: Mana, Tapu and Utu. I will elaborate on how
these cultural concepts are important in understanding MД Ѓori culture and society.
Firstly, I will begin with how mana is important in MД Ѓori society. Mana in its simplest form is
authority and power. The sources of mana include: mana tupuna, mana whenua, mana tangata and
mana atua. Mana tupuna is power that has been attained through descent. It ties the MД Ѓori people
to their ancestors. Mana also denotes the heritage, the myths and the legends, which define their

Streaming And The Future Of The Music Industry
Streaming The Future of The Music Industry The dawn of the internet brought forth a revolution
that, by now, has seeped its way in the the very fibers of almost every human experience. Education
has changed. Communication has changed. Entertainment has changed. Business has changed.
Entire industries have been built, and destroyed, by the information age. The music industry, in
particular, has felt both. With precursors of the Compact Disc (CD) and digital music formats,
Shawn Fanning single handedly eviscerated the music industry. Napster, his peer to peer mass file

Streaming has obvious limitations though. Access to the network that sends the information is
required. This is usually achieved by a connection to the internet. The strength of the connection
drastically affects the quality of the stream. This entire process can be understood through viewing
a video on YouTube, arguably the most popular video streaming service of all time. YouTube hosts
a video that is saved to its server through its website. To view it, you must connect to the YouTube
website through the internet. There you can view the video without having to download and store
it on your device. This idea is similar to that of radio and television broadcasting where streaming
uses the internet as its medium for travel instead of radio or electromagnetic waves.
Most would associate the beginnings of media streaming with the back half of the 2000s, which is
when it first amassed global popularity. Surprisingly, the idea to stream media through the internet

Persuasive Advertising Strategy
An advertisement is usually thought of as promotion and generally the main goal is to generate
money, however, that is not always the case. There are many genres of advertisement such as
marketing, persuasion, or encouragement in which all have similar, yet different, goals and
purposes. A marketing advertisement main motive is to sell a product. This can be achieved
through many common advertising techniques such as claims, repetition, association,
bandwagon, or promotion, to name a few. Persuasion and encouragement advertisement may
also be projected by these techniques as well, but there may be a different goal. Persuasive
advertising could also tie into marketing as well being that some ads try to sway consumers into
buying their company s product. Encouragement and persuasive ads may also go hand and hand
with each other as well. These types of ads are usually less about money and more about getting
a point across to the people. Well known examples of this is a Click it or Ticket it commercial or
an advertisement telling people to stop smoking. Every company has a specific goal in mind and

The Role Of Judges In The US Criminal Justice System
Namely, a judge is one of the influential career positions which carries prestigious recognition
throughout our nation for centuries. Typically, the average citizens are not able to accurately

important purpose in the US criminal justicesystem. According to the read and attend section in

The For Purchasing Premium Ski Clothing Within Short
With little prior knowledge of running a successful SEM campaign using the vast array of tools
available in the AdWords interface, this project generated a number of challenges. The most
difficult aspect of the campaign was to express the reasons for purchasing premium ski clothing
within short, text based ads. The ads also had to align with the brands values and not waste money
on irrelevant keywords. This challenge was overcome before and during the campaign via initial
and ongoing communication with the Pure Brandz CEO. Communication was not an issue because
all work on the campaign was performed at the client s office. The client was therefore able to trust
that at no stage would the campaign negatively affect the brand image or spend the marketing
budget unnecessarily. The resulting level of trust and frequent communication were useful in
maintaining a stress free work environment to create an effective SEM campaign. Working solo on
this project meant that the client was not able to collaborate at any stage of the process, could not
gain knowledge from the experience, and therefore did not share insights or participate in
discussions on how to optimise any part of the campaign. On the other hand, a team project must
continually strive to prevent the possibility of moving the campaign off course due to groupthink.

The Importance Of Class Struggle In Hamlet
Throughout history, class distributions have constantly been a serious issue. Many compositions
today display social disparity; however, to recognize it, one needs to look through the proper
lens. Literary critical lenses help to understand a work from a different angle which leads to a
further interpretation of the composition. There are many lenses and aspects in literature, and one
of them is the Marxist Theory. Also known as the Conflict Theory, this idea asserts that class
struggle is a powerful divider in society. Although it is a social idea, this concept also relates to
literature. In his play Hamlet, William Shakespeare demonstrates class struggles. Looking at this
composition through the lens of the Marxist Theory, one uncovers that the dominant ones
suppress and exploits the others seeking to display their superiority. Class struggle is noticeable
in Hamlet. The royals exploit the lower class to satisfy their ambitions. People from the working
class carry out the Aristocrats commands and they hold an insignificant rank in their society.
The Aristocrats notably Hamlet, Claudius, and even Gertrude oppress others to obtain what they
want and show that they are superior. Claudius poisons his own brother and marries Gertrude to
have a stronger chance at being king since she is the imperial jointress, to the throne; he does not
marry Gertrude because he loves her; he is using her to obtain the power (I.ii.9). Even when he
gets the throne, he still wants more power and seeks to murder Hamlet because the prince knows
his secret. Claudius also uses Guildenstern and Rosencrantz to spy on his nephew. The men carry
out his orders without protest; they are like an ape, in the corner of/ [Claudius ] jaw; the king is
using them to find out the reason for Hamlet s sudden madness and when he will get what he
wants; he will get rid them (IV.ii.18 19). Claudius uses Laertes to get rid of Hamlet because he
wants his nephew to remain inferior to him because the people of Denmark love Hamlet and they
will want him as their ruler; Hamlet is a menace to Claudius and an obstruction between him and
the ultimate power.
Gertrude also portrays Marxism. She does not delay long after her former husband s death to marry

How to Reduce Carbon Emissions to Comply with New UK Law...
1.0 Executive Summary
Climate change has been a major topic of debate in the UK over the recent years. The need to
reduce the impact of CO2 and other Green House Gases (GHG) on the environment has pushed the
UK Government to enact legislations (e.g. Climate Change Act 2008) and impose strict regulations
on businesses to reduce emissions. These actions have forced businesses across a wide range of
industrial sectors to rethink and rework their strategies of utilising energy, transport and land in an
efficient manner, which in turn has lead to innovative and at the same time simple yet effective
methods to reduce carbon emissions.

Mrs Dalloway Bipolar Disorder Essay
A superficial interpretation might claim that the conspicuous fluctuating of feelings in Mrs.
Dalloway indicates bipolar disorder, especially since the most extreme example of this condition is
warren smith the shell shocked world war I veteran whose insanity, disastrous search for medical
treatment, eventual suicide occupy part of the novel.
Once Woolf chose to combine the two separate stories, with the loss of unity this would imply,
she must dramatize the split in structure and make a virtue out of it. The contrast between the
minds of Clarissa and Septimus is but one way; another is the split within the characters
themselves. Septimus is a schizophrenic, in the common (although not the medical) view, a split
personality; and he alternates between normal and abnormal behavior. Clarissa is divided in
another way; she is born under Gemini, the sign of the twins, indicated by Woolf s mention that
she had just broken into her fifty second year With this Gemini or twin motif, Woolf was able to

Edenic state. At Bourton, people with distinctive personalities are brought together; just as later
they are reunited in Clarissa s

Manichaean Dualism In The Hobbit
J.R.R Tolkien s writing consists of a variety of different mythological influences ranging from
Greco Roman, Norse, and Scandinavian. Thought these sources do shape the narrative of Tolkien s
writing and of Middle Earth as a whole, most prominent inspirations of his mythos is derived from
Christian theology in the Bible. Traces of biblical influence can be found throughout The Hobbit,
The Lord of the Ringstrilogy and The Silmarillion, particularly in each of these texts conception of
good and evil. Some have argued that the morality presented in his works are akin to Manichaean
dualism. In this essay, I shall argue that though Tolkien s position on the dichotomies of good and
evil sometimes does delve into the realm of Manichaean dualism but... Show more content on

Choice is crucial unlike Manichaeism s beliefs. Frodo s decision to quest for the greater good of
Middle Earth is a taxing ordeal that forces him to turn his back on everything in the Shire he
ever knew. The human aspect of this character is the times the reader sees him slip up and fall
into difficult situations and choices in which he could use the One Ring. At times he does fall
into temptation and weakness, but with the love and support of Samwise and the rest of the
Fellowship, he is able to cast the Ring into the fires of Mount Doom. At the end of his journey he
has redeemed himself and proved himself to be good (Good vs. Evil

New Government Regulations Should Be Implemented
New government regulations geared towards curbing over packaging in today s businesses should
be implemented, to prevent and increase the focus on the negative environmental impacts
businesses cause as a result of disposable products and packaging. If businesses where to make the
change from disposable resources to reusable resources, then businesses would be able to
significantly reduce their costs and their environmental footprint. In essence, businesses who are
concerned with reducing costs and being environmentally conscious shouldn t need to worry about
the implementation of government regulations. Because, if the government were to implement
regulations on the use of disposable materials, then businesses would see a financial benefit from
the switch to reusable materials. Furthermore, if these policies had efforts aimed toward curbing
over packaging it would significantly increase the world s abilities to maintain a substantial living
environment in the future. Keeping the future in mind, the need for these kinds of regulations will
only continue to grow, because as time passes the amount of packages sent out from companies is
exponentially growing. The change from disposable packaging and resources to reusable packaging
and resources in businesses would help them to both decrease overall costs and to decrease their
environmental impact. In hospitals this fact remains especially true, according to Reiner Grimmond
(2012), Annually, we estimate US hospitals dispose of

Procrastination Is Natural Essay
Is procrastination natural? Procrastination cannot be considered natural, because natural can be
define as something that people have become use to doing in their everyday live. In his recent Ted
Talk, Inside the Mind of a Master Procrastinator, Tim Urban, states that everybody is a
procrastinator, and honestly, I disagree with his idea. Not everybody is a procrastinator.
In the article, What we finally got around to learning at procrastination research conference , by
Heather Murphy, she states that at least one out five people are procrastinators. (Murphy, 2017) In
making this comment, Murphy (2017) argues his audience to believe that not everyone can be
considered to be a procrastinator. Now considering that one out five people are procrastinators in
their live, can there be any side effects to procrastination? Been a procrastinator can have side
effects, for example anxiety, stress, and tension. Personally, I believe that students go more
through this side effects because they are always being bombarded with due dates before the
semester has even started. As reported by, Erin Ben Moche from the Chicago Tribune
newspaper, Teens report that their stress level during the school year far exceeds what they
believe to be healthy (5.8 versus 3.9 on a 10 point scale) and tops adults average reported stress
levels (5.8 for teens versus 5.1 for adults) (Erin Ben Moche, 2017, par.3) In other words, Erin
believes that teen students stress more than adults because of school. As a student, I personally
haven t dealt with this kind of high stress, but in the other hand, I met teenagers who have dealt
with this kind of stress during mid terms
In the Ted Talk by Tim Urban, he touches the topic of anxiety and stress. He goes on by saying
that guilt, dread, anxiety, and self hatred can be a dark playground when people are doing last
minute paperwork or assignments. (Urban, 2016) Like I stated in the beginning of my essay,
procrastination is not something that everyone does, procrastination is more like a decision
someone decides to take when they are been lazy. According to Adam Grant s article, Why I
thought myself to procrastinate, For years, I believed that anything worth doing was worth doing
early. In

The Professional Development Award in Health and Social...
PDA in Health and Social Care Supervision Social health Care Supervision Definition Social
Care Supervision refers to the strategies and body of service done within a social care plant in
order to improve on the level of performance of the social care workers. Supervision is a critical
idea in any social or structured society in which services of high quality and demand are being
offered. Many social health care centers in the world are in need of equitable service delivery
programs that will oversee a fruitful service reception by the clients. As such, Social Care
Supervision refers to this body of knowledge and strategies used to support and instill hard work,
quality delivery of products and services, together with a continuum of good delivery of goods
and services to the clients (Gray Brown 2010, p. 45 85). The Professional Health and Social
Care Supervision Award were offered to social workers who registered to the Scottish Social
Services Council. The core aim of this service mechanism was to meet the various requirements
among social service workers. These services were derived and directed to all workers in service
practices. It also included those who require additional qualifications in order to meet the pending
responsibilities and challenges within a social work setup. The workers, whose responsibilities
and duties are to meet the needs and wants of other workers, in that, who are in supervision roles,
are required to live by the standards held by the
