In this close viewing I will be using the films Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz,
directed by Edgar Wright, to show significant aspects/techniques of different scenes
used in both films. I will be focusing on the features of sound effects, dialogue and
comparing near same scenes within two different films and the aspects that Edgar
Wright was trying to cover.
Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz both have fence jumping scenes. In Shaun of the
Dead, the scene is opened with Shaun opening the gate quite forcefully along with
the rest of his team. Shaun says The Winchester s just over there and David says in
a sarcastic tone, Just over there behind the 20 garden fences? When David is
saying the last bit of his sentence the camera pans over the fences in which they
have to jump to show audiences what they have to jump over. For example, to
show why David is being sarcastic towards Shaun, and why it s being used in that
particular scene, Shaun then says What s the matter, David? Never taken a
shortcut before? , and smirks while turning behind, and tries to jump over the fence
but ends up making the fence fall over. He then picks himself back up and subtly

I had just woken up to one of the greatest exciting days of my life. My family and I
had remained at the EL Tovar Hotel on the edge of the Grand Canyon in Grand
Canyon, Arizona, since we arrived Thursday afternoon. The El Tovar Hotel first

There is an increasing mutual exchange as the synthetic and the human made equally
invades what we once thought of as natural. In electronic music, the human element
that people input in their work is crucial to say the least. People provide the
unpredictable pieces in their work to make it stand out from the rest. Most robotic or
technologic generated music often is in the form of a pattern. Without human
interface, electronic music, for the most part, is predictable. When electronic music is
played without the human element, a sense of something that is missing usually
occurs. Today, technological advances allow electronics to replace most of the human

Instruments such as the flute, violin, and guitar are just some of these mimicked

relatable tool. The audience notices the human element and realizes that they can
