Essay On The Elephant
Writing an essay on the topic of elephants may seem deceptively simple at first glance. After all,
elephants are fascinating creatures with a wealth of information available. However, the
challenge lies not in the scarcity of material but rather in the need to distill this vast information
into a coherent and engaging essay.
One of the difficulties arises from the vastness of the subject itself. Elephants are complex
beings with intricate behaviors, ecological significance, and cultural importance. Deciding what
aspects to focus on can be a daunting task. Should one delve into the biological aspects, such as
their anatomy and physiology, or explore their social behaviors and intelligence? Balancing these
elements while maintaining a clear and concise narrative is a delicate act.
Moreover, the extensive research required to present a well-rounded essay poses another
challenge. Sorting through various sources, ranging from scientific articles to conservation
reports and cultural references, demands time and discernment. The risk of information overload
is ever-present, making it crucial to sift through the material judiciously to include only the most
relevant and compelling content.
Crafting an engaging introduction that captures the reader's attention, followed by a well-
structured body that seamlessly transitions between different aspects of the topic, is a demanding
task. Striking the right balance between depth and accessibility is essential, ensuring that the
essay appeals to both experts and those with a casual interest in the subject.
In addition to these challenges, maintaining a coherent and persuasive argument throughout the
essay requires careful attention to detail. Each paragraph must contribute to the overall narrative,
supporting the thesis while providing new insights. The conclusion, too, must tie everything
together, leaving a lasting impression on the reader.
Despite the difficulties, conquering the challenge of writing an essay on elephants is undoubtedly
rewarding. The process allows for a deep exploration of a captivating subject, honing research
and writing skills in the process. With perseverance, dedication, and a keen eye for detail, one
can navigate the complexities of the topic and produce an essay that does justice to the
magnificence of elephants.

Coming Of Film Techniques
Film style refers to the technical practices employed within filmmaking, this includes
the use of cinematography, mise en scene, dialogue, editing and narrative.
Understanding changes in film style is crucial to examining film in a historical,
political and cultural context. All of which as these external elements directly
affected the production of filmand altered the style of filmmaking. In this essay I
will be exploring how the coming of sound homogenised filmmaking and aided the
creation of a widespread distinct film style, Classical Hollywood cinema.
As a result of the coming of film sound, an exclusively visual experience, became an
equally audible one and within a decade, silent films were transformed from being
the exclusive mode ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Short pieces of dialogue were inserted into the film through title cards, which
framed the film s narrative through textual communication. These distinctive film
style techniques changed as as a result of the coming of film sound as films were
created with a consideration of sound. Scenes began to have less cuts in order to
focus on the importance of the characters dialogue, which strayed from the
previous importance placed on mise en scene and set design. This pattern of
conventions, created a new film style that favoured naturalistic acting, static
camera shots and an overall emphasis on dialogue and sound. In 1929, Britain
released it s first full talkie film, Blackmail, directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Despite
the film originally being shot as silent film the studio decided that the film would
alternatively be produced as a talkie alongside the original release. Hitchcock s
Blackmail epitomises the changes film style accommodated with the new medium
of sound. The two versions of the film differ in filmic techniques, despite the only
difference being the introduction of sound. With the inclusion of sound there is
less of a need for visual storytelling. In the film s famous knife sequence the silent
version of the scene has a shot of the bell ringing to indicate that someone has
entered the shop, this is a requirement as the audience would not otherwise be
aware of this. However, in the version with sound this shot is cut as the sound can
be a diegetic noise, leading to less of an interruption in the scene s building tension
an important motif which became a trademark of Hitchcock s filmmaking style.
Another aspect which conveys a shift in film style is when the film s protagonist
Alice reaches over to grab the knife on the table. In the film s silent version a dark
shadow is cast under her hand, acting as a connotation to Alice s inner turmoil after

Love In A Midsummer Night s Dream Essay
In William Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream, the concept of love is
explored as a foolish and quite silly thing, with exaggeration and imagery used to
display the ridiculousness of the whole thing. It makes good use of reversed
Shakespearean love quadrangles, interchangeable love interests, faerie magic, and
metaphors for the blindness of loveto weave a wonderful satire of the silliest of mortal
concepts.
We start by observing the dynamic between Lysander, Demetrius, Hermia, and Helena
. At the start of the play, both Lysander and Demetrius are in love with Hermia.
Hermia is in love with Lysander, and Helena, oft forgotten, is in love with Demetrius.
After some faerie trickery and love magic, however, both men are suddenly in love
with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many a student reading this play complain of not being able to tell the two women
apart. Their names are quite similar, and there is little to distinguish one from the
other in character as well. In the beginning, and in the end, the love quadrangle is
nearly identical, differing only by three letters.
Thus, the entire affair is absurd and pointless and therein lies the comedy. Next, let
us talk about the affair between Bottom and Titania. Titania is the Queen of the
Faeries, a most important figure, and the partner of the Faerie King Oberon.
Oberon is jealous of a particular Indian boy of Titania s, but she won t just give
him up. So he sends Puck out to drug Titania with love potion, so when she awakes
she ll fall in love with the first thing she sees, no matter how horrid. Then, Puck goes
a wandering, and finds an enterprising young thespian, with the unfortunate name of
Bottom, and wryly decides to give him the head of a donkey. The pun is not lost on
many readers. When Titania awakes, she sees a monstrous creature, a human man
with the head of an ass...and falls deeply in love with him. Methinks I was
enamoured of an ass ,

The Short Speech Of Apple
Question One: What strikes you as surprising in these videos? Why? According to the
videos, which existing assumptions must be challenged?
After watching these videos, two things surprise me. First, I am surprised by
Political frame, which presents the conflict side of an organization because I have
never think about this side of an organization. When it comes to the views of a
company, I may normally ignore the political side and just focus on the structures,
managers and employees. After watching this video, I finally recognized the
importance of the political frame for a company. What s more, the Framing
Organization put the symbolic as one of the four parts of the frames surprise me. I
would think that the symbolic of a company is important, but I have never put it on a
same importance level as structural and human resources. One thing does not surprise
me, but I want to mention is the short speech of Apple. A company, which is greatly
collaborative, like Apple, has had the basis to success.
In my opinion, there are two existing assumptions must be challenged: role of
employees and importance of collaborations. The existing assumption, which is
managers decide everything and employees are not considerable must be changed. In
new perceptions, human resources has became one of the most important parts of an
organization. Employees actually the people who creates profits and their importance
is not lower that employers and managers. The assumption that will also be

Edgar Allan Poe Writing Style Analysis
Edgar Allan Poe has been a subject study in many academic researches around the
world. His ability to write short stories tempted academics in different domains to
investigate about his writings. He published more than three hundred and fifty stories,
poems, and critical articles (Sova vii).In fact, Poe has a considerable number of
works in the fantasy genre, that attracted this research to make its subject study
concerned with Poe and this genre.
As far as the subject of this thesis is concerned, fantasy, there are some articles, found
on an academic English website, to which this study has been attracted to, that
analyze Poeв Ђџs style and way of writing.
The first article is entitled Edgar Allan Poe Writing Style Analysis. It mentions

It is this unity of effect that would ultimately lead the reader to live and feel the
general mood of the story that Edgar Allan Poe wanted for his ending. Similarly, in
The Raven, Poe uses great imagery to portray a feeling of horror, of grief and of
madness, madness brought on by the loss of a love, Lenore. It is stated that Poe
imagery to portray both the setting and the first tone of horror found in the raven,
and to the reader to enter the world of the poet in the story. And the article comes out
with a conclusion that these pieces of work в ЂћвЂџa tragic event in Edgar
Allan Poe s lifeв ЂџвЂџ (Poe Imagery UKessays).
However, the first article speaks about Poeв Ђџs tales as falling into the horror genre,
and not giving more importance to fantasy that contains horror in itself. And for the
second article, it speaks about Poeв Ђџs life as being an inspiration for his writings,
yet it does not relate this to his choice of writing in the fantastic genre and not the
realistic.
Last but not least, the third one, although it is mentioned at the beginning that Poe is
a fantastic writer, it does mostly about the unity of effect rather than talking more

The Perspectives Of Albert Bandura s Social Learning
Theory
Albert Bandura leans towards the behaviourist learning theories when discussing the
Social Learning Theory, he adds that learning occurs through observation and the
observing of models , these can be parents, teachers, mentors or even characters on
a TV show (McLeod, 2016). J L (2015) however, disagrees and views this learning
theory as a bridge between behaviourist and cognitive learning due to its inclusion of
motivation, memory and attention. This style of learning was depicted clearly
through the 1961 Bobo doll experiment, here Bandura has models show violenceto a
portion of the 72 children selected, this aggressionwas replicated by the children,
confirming the process of observational learning(Nolan, 2009). Ultimately this can be

Although, McLeod (2016) argues we all have differing needs and therefore all the
steps won t apply to us in the same way, what one person needs another wont.
To enhance development and learning in students Benjamin Bloom developed the
three learning domains or taxonomies, these being cognitive, affective and
psychomotor (Quinonez, 2014). Cognitive lends itself to knowledge which will be
attained by the student. Affective is associated with the handling of the student s
emotions, whereas Psychomotor relates to the co ordination and development of
physical movement and motor related skills (Clark, 2015). This can clearly be seen
with our paramedic students, learning the theory of why we do something in
university, the students emotional engagement in practice when observing and then
the physical practicalities of performing skills on the road.
The best way to create a clinical learning environment is by involving the student
(Emanuel Pryce, 2013). Papp et el (2003) advocates the importance of making them
engage as part of the team, but as the NHS is faced with staff shortages and an
increased work load, students are often left isolated and feeling

My Experience At Summer Camp
You and your sister are soooooo different, my friend, who I had met at summer
camp a couple years before, informed me as we stood beneath the blistering sun,
our necks slicked with sweat and our throats parched. Approximately two second
before Julia spoke those words, my sister had attempted to do a cartwheel in front
of the whole camp, failed miserably, and screamed out in amusement. The episode
was followed first by a simultaneous gasp from the mouths of 200 campers, in fear
of her injury, and then a fit of booming laughter when she stuck up her thumb and
smiled. While everyone stood around watching her, I pouted on the sidelines of the
common field and shook my head in shame. Of course I wanted to be in on the fun,
laughing and jumping and doing gymnastics with the rest of West Mountain Camp
s population. But instead, I felt forced into a reputation created for me so many
years ago as the quiet, calm and mature twin sister of the rambunctious and
outgoing Chloe Blumberg. Always sitting on the sidelines, reading my books,
doling out my wise words and keeping my sister in check. The funny thing is, I can
t remember it ever being different. I was always told by my mom, dad and
grandparents that I was the quiet and mature one of the duo, and that I didn t need
to get attention in the way Chloe always did because my intelligence was enough to
give me the recognition I needed. Chloe was just always so loud and clumsy that by
default I was destined to be the other one, more in

The Americans With Disabilities Act ( Ada )
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) strictly prohibits discrimination and
ensures equal opportunity for persons with disabilities in employment, State and local
government services, public accommodations, commercial facilities and
transportation. 1 This law, enacted in 1990, was created so that people with
disabilities have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else in society so that
they don t get left behind. The ADA gives civil rights protections to those with
disabilities in a similar way to other characteristics that individuals may have, whether
it is race, nationality, gender, age and/or religion.2
The ADA is split into five titles, each having a different sect of society they relate to.
Title I refers to employment, meaning that employment opportunities and benefits
should be equally accessible for people with or without a disability. Title II refers to
state and local government, meaning that any governing body must not discriminate
against those with disabilities when it comes to programs, activities or services they
offer. This portion ensures that architectural barriers to be identified, such as barriers
with public transportation systems. Title III refers to public accommodations
including privately owned and operated places such as restaurants, hotels, schools,
stadiums, etc. These facilities are required to meet minimum specifications when
built and existing buildings must remove any barriers that they can in order to
accommodate for people

Comparing Direct Democracy And Representative
Democracy
There are numerous comparison and differences between direct and representative
democracy.Representative democracy has someone who represents you and speaks
for you. Direct democracy is when you vote on every single thing. Both democracies
vote on legislation that affects them. A direct democracy is a form of democracy
where people vote on every single thing and a representative democracyis a form of
democracy where people elect officials that represent a group of people.
Representative democracy is better than direct democracy because the representative
s people elect to know more about politics than the common people do, so the
common people can t make formal decisions. The United Statesuses representative
democracy, which when representatives vote on the important stuff while
representing the people. People elect officials based on if their beliefs and ideas
match with each other. The people still have an opinion, but they just have someone
else speaking for them and making sure that their opinions are heard. Ideally, the
laws and policies enacted by the elected representatives should closely reflect the
will of the majority of the people. Instead of requiring a vote by the people every
time an issue comes up, the representatives can vote on behalf of their district to
simplify the process. Representative democracy focuses more on... Show more

There are No Representatives to voice out people s opinion because each person is
allowed to voice out their opinions by themselves.People vote on everything that
affects them and other like laws, basically everything that involves the government.
Direct democracy is the opposite of the more common representative democracy.
Ensures a greater degree of openness and transparency between the people and their
government.Direct democracy focuses on people voting on what affects people, but

British Women Writers During The Romantic Period
British Women Writers during the Romantic period Like the minority writer, the
female writer exists within an inescapable condition of identity which distances her
from the mainstream of the culture and forces her either to stress her separation from
the masculine literary tradition or to pursue her resemblance to it. (Lynn Sukenick,
Miller: 1985, 356.) Women s roles in society today has changed radically since the
Romantic period. Women during the Romantic Period were looked down upon
economically, socially, and politically. Women were labelled as the Cult of the True
Womanhood, which was an ideology that degraded women to only serve as a family s
moral guidance at home, and labeled women as less superior to men. Women were
not entitled to attend school, obtain a degree, own any property, or substance
essential elements that all men were allow performing. Having deprived her of this
first right of a citizen, the elective Franchise, thereby leaving her without
representation in the halls of legislation, he has oppressed her on all sides.
(Declaration of Sediments.) Because of these limitations and standards that women
had to follow, women fought industriously for their education, rights, and freedom.
Men their rights and nothing more; Women their rights and nothing less. (Susan B
Anthony.) Woman s main concerns were their education. Women only contained
knowledge in how to dance, sing, paint, sew, and basic understandings of modern
languages; nevertheless,

terrorists through the desert of the Southwest. The group known as the Monkey
Wrench Gang consists of four very different characters: Seldom Seen Smith, also
known as Joseph Smith, George Washington Hayduke, Doctor A. K. Sarvis, and
Bonnie Abbzug. Each character has his own opinion of why nature needs to be
saved. The group decides to make their mark on nature by taking care of the different

Let?s Save Some of It (14) plastered on the back bumper.
George Washington Hayduke, Vietnam veteran from Tucson, Arizona, has a distaste
for the way the Southwest is becoming industrialized. He found it, no longer what
he remembered, no longer the clear and classical desert. . . . Someone or something
was changing things (15). That ultimate world . . . of meat, blood, fire, water, rock,
wood, sun, wind, sky, night, cold, dawn, warmth, life. Those short and irreducible
words which stand for almost everything he thinks he has lost (355). In Hayduke?s
opinion, This is my country. Mine and Seldom?s and Doc?s yeah, hers too (336) and
anyone who would want to mess with it is in trouble.
Seldom Seen Smith, a Mormon and husband to three women all from Utah, guides
river trips down Lee?s Ferry for a living. Smith, like Hayduke, remembers the
Southwest to be something different. He recalls, the golden river flowing to the sea. .
. . He remembers the canyons. . . and the amphitheaters (31). What he doesn?t
remember is all these things lay[ing] beneath the dead water of the reservoir (31). A
true autochthonic patriot, Smith swears allegiance only to the land he knows (358).
All the members of the gang agree with Smith and feel that they want a counter
industrial revolution (211).
Edward Abbey uses various types of slang to get each character?s opinions across to
the reader. For example, when Hayduke asks if Doc thinks he is a

Modern Medicine And Advancing Technology
With modern medicine and advancing technology in the field of health people in
America are living longer than ever before. Along with longer life expectancy, the
american population has increased by twenty percent since 2002.This growing
population means that more people are in need of hospital care. Every day millions
of people across The United States go to a hospitalfor a variety of reasons. In recent
years hospitals have been cutting down on nurses due to increasing health care cost.
With more people needing hospital care and less nurses to care for them creates a
stressful and hectic environment for the workers, patients and the hospital in
general. The remaining staff are forced to work longer shifts, and have much more
responsibility placed on them. Understaffing of nurses in American hospitals are
becoming an increasing problem that can leave devastating long lasting effects on
patients, the hospitals, and employed nurses. Nurses now find themselves responsible
for various tasks and multiple patients all at the same time. They are constantly
running around from patient to patient while doing numerous other jobs in
between.Nurses are unable to spend quality one on one time with the patients and
often have to deviate from one patient to another. This can lead to the patients not
being adequately cared for and feeling as if the nurses do not actually care for he or
she. In reality this is not true and that the nurses do actually care a lot about each of
their patients

Correctional Facilities For Inmates And Staff
In the upcoming material there will be several statistics and pertinent information to
help clarify (Life in Correctional Facilities for Inmates and Staff). Individual
information for each facet, completed by compiling comparisons of the concluded
information. When we think of incarceration, we automatically think about people
sentenced to prison. Perhaps we think of those in jail awaiting trial or serving a
shorter sentence. When we think of re entry we immediately think about sentenced or
otherwise incarcerated persons being released from incarceration to home. It seems
we rarely think about persons working in the prisons/jails. These are the people who
enter and out of the facilities daily and often times their time inside is much... Show

Thirty four percent of the officers who responded to the survey reported suffering
from symptoms of PTSD, such as repeated flashbacks of traumatic incidents,
hypervigilance, insomnia, suicidal thoughts, and alienation. Only fourteen percent of
military veterans report suffering the same symptoms. Correctional officer suicide
rates are thirty nine percent higher than all other professions combined, according
to the national study. In the study it was revealed that most officers avoid a PTSD
diagnosis because they re afraid of negative repercussions on their careers. They
believe they ll be put through a fit for duty test with a licensed psychologist and be
decertified. Research shows that hyper violent environment has serious repercussions
on the mental and physical state of an officer. Shift work is another key factor with
corrections officers and their families. Not having dinner together and parents
sleeping while their children get ready for school. Shift work has been proven to
disrupt the circadian rhythm, or the internal clock that controls sleep and nausea. The
combination of sleep loss disrupted circadian rhythm, eating, and digestive problems
tends to result in irritability and depression, which will possibly have a negative
impact on family interaction.

In The Year Of 1692, In Salem, Massachusetts The Historic
In the year of 1692, in Salem, Massachusetts the historic Salem Witch Trials
occurred. The event resulted in nineteen innocent men and women being hanged,
along with one man being pressed to death. Not to forget the other deaths that
followed as many others later died in jail. The infamous Salem witch trials began
during the spring of 1692, after a group of young girls in Salem Village,
Massachusetts, claimed to be possessed by the devil, not only did the girls make
these claims but also accused several local women of being involved with witchcraft.
The situation created an overwhelming wave of hysteria in which spread throughout
colonial Massachusetts. To this day many people are undecided upon what actually
caused this mass hysteria, as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Puritans refused to lend a hand and help for any afflictions as such, because they
believed that misfortune was what God wanted. In addition to all of the other
Puritan beliefs, it also was strongly believed that the Devil was real and was just as
real as God. Everyone was faced with the struggle between the powers of good and
evil, but Satan would select the weakest individuals, generally women, children, and
the insane to carry out his work. Those who followed Satan were considered to be
witches. Witchcraft was one of the greatest crimes a person could commit, and was
punishable by death, which was conveyed throughout the trials.
Through this time era Salem had been separated into two distinct parts which
began Salem Town and Salem Village. The two divisions were very close and apart
of each other. However were set apart by economy, class, and character. Locals of
Salem Village were typically farmers with little money and relied on making a
living cultivating crops in the rocky terrain. On the contrary, Salem Town was a
prosperous port town at the center of trade with London. Those who lived in Salem
Town were commonly wealthy merchants. For many years, Salem Village tried to
gain independence from Salem Town. The town, which depended on the farmers for
food, determined crop prices and collected taxes from the village. Although Salem
was already split into two districts, there was

Discuss The Importance Of Informed Consent In Research
It s often thought that ethics are the moral way of life, however, I have wondered if
it is merely a pause in the growth of the field of psychology. Research is important
to psychologists as it develops theories to a state which could be considerable.
However, according to the British psychology, society, researchers must give the
participants informed consent, which involves briefing and debriefing. Others
confidentiality, deception, and participants must have the right to withdraw. Even
though I agree with many of these, it s deception and Informed consent I deem
mandatory as without them the research is unreliable. I believe this is the factor that
is building a wall to the progression of psychology and I intend to dig to the... Show

Obviously I do not think participants should be dragged to a laboratory and tested
on, however I do think some details should be left out when asking for consent. For
example If a researcher wished to study the reaction from a participant when they
heard a loud noise, he would need to tell then they would hear a loud noise! This
would completely destroy the purpose of the experiment because participants
knew the noise was coming so their reaction would not be genuine. The Stanford
prison experiments is one of the most notorious Conducted by Philip Zimbardo
was to study the group behavior and the importance in roles of authority. Zimbardo
used 24 male college students as participants all healthy both psychology and
psychologically. Half of the participants were given the role of prison guard and
the others prisoner. From Zimbardo described In only a few days, our guards
became sadistic and our prisoners became depressed and showed signs of extreme
stress . The experiment was meant to last for two weeks, however it ended in only
five because of the horrific events which took place there. The participants were not
given the right to withdraw however they were given full informed consent and not
deceived. Even Though I agree this experiment is horrific deception and informed
consent were not to

The Ethical Issues in Hamlett by William Shakespeare
Hamlet is one of the most well known and renown plays in the history of theatrics.
It s known for its ethical issues, gender discrimination and many other themes
throughout the play. In fact it s filled with themes such as Morality, Revenge,
Deceit, and Family. Hamlet is such a great play because of how its many themes are
intricately woven into the plot creating a fabulous storyline filled with tragedy.
Revenge is a dish best served cold, being one of the biggest themes in the play, at its
Hamlets biggest goal in the play. From the very start Hamlet was out seeking
revenge over his father s death. He wanted to kill Claudius because Claudius killed
his father, in an effort to become king himself. Hamlet then becomes obsessed with
seeking vengeance, going so far as to fake madness in order to prove that Claudius
is truly guilty for his father s murder... Along with Revenge comes Hamlet s streak
of Madness, He feigns madness almost like a tool at his disposal. Hamlet first uses
the illusion of his madness as a way of proving Claudius s guiltiness. His madness
acts as an excuse so that he can get away with strange behavior, and he won t be

Water Cycle Is The Most Important Part Of Our Life
Water resource is the most important part of our life. Almost everything cannot
leave with water. From food to production, demand for water is growing. Water in
different states constantly moves and nourish all. Thus, recognizing the water
cycle is vital and necessary for development and Environmental Protection.
Introduction Water cycle is also known as hydrological cycle . It describes the
continuous movement of water on, above, and below the surface of the Earth.
Water is always changing states between liquid, vapor, and ice. Water cycle has
been going on for billions of years and all life on Earth is dependent on the water
cycle. If there is no water cycle, the Earth would be a lifeless place. There is no
clear starting point of water cycle, but the ocean can be counted as the beginning of
it. The sun drives the entire water cycle. Water changes into water vapor due to the
rice of ocean temperature and then evaporates into the air. Freshwater lakes and
rivers have similar evaporated phenomenon. On land, water of transpiration from the
plant and land also change into steam and evaporate into the air. A small amount of
water in the air from the sublime, which is the direct evaporation of ice and snow
and it is completely omitted from the melting process. Updrafts carry water vapor
into the atmosphere and water vapor condenses into a cloud due to the low
temperature of atmosphere. Airflow driven cloud to move around the Earth Cloud

Wolfson stated in his interview Measles is not a big deal. Measles outbreak in the
United States has increased tremendously since parents refuse to have their children
vaccinated. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has published a
report, Measles Cases and Outbreaks, that shows how the measles cases have been
increase nationwide. This controversy started when The Lancet published a research
made by Dr. Andrew Wakefield, who suggested the vaccine can cause autism. After
investigation the British medical journal published an article criticizing
Dr.Wakefield and accusing him of fraud. As a result The Lancet retracted the
research. The dishonest research and violation of ethic caused Dr. Wakefield to lose
his medical license. However, Dr. Wakefield s research made a big impact in the way
some American parents view vaccines. These parents now refuse to have their
children vaccinate and blame the vaccine for their developmental

Costa Rican Rainforest Essay
Preserve and Conserve the Costa Rican Rainforest
The Costa Rican rain forest must be conserved and protected. There are many
benefits of rain forest conservation that can be achieved without the destruction of the
rainforests themselves. The Costa Rican rainforest is also home to diverse plant and
animal life. Tens of thousands of acres of rainforest are still destroyed every year in
Latin America and we must put an end to it.
There are many benefits to rainforest conservation. There are also many benefits to
the destruction of rainforests. But are these benefits worth it? There are many
reasons why people destroy rainforests in Latin America. They can be destroyed for
the purpose of commercial logging, mining, and road building. Commercial logging
is a form of destruction where loggers are interested in the hardwood trees that grow
in rainforests. Even if loggers take just a few trees, it disrupts the entire forest. This is
because when one tree falls, it will damage the others around it and those connected
by big vines. Loggers use big equipment to transport the logs so they build roads to
move the equipment. Road building itself does not cause massive forest destruction,
but it brings hunters, settlers, and tourists into the forest which ... Show more content

Tropical rainforests produce 40% of Earth s oxygen. Leaves of trees and other
plants are the most important chemical factories in the world. They provide the
oxygen and food for humans and animals. The rainforest also captures, stores, and
recycles rain, which prevents floods, droughts and the erosion of soil. The Costa
Rican rainforest can also save the lives of humans.. About one fourth of all the
medicines we use now come from rainforest plants and more than 1,400 varieties of
tropical plants are thought to be potential cures for cancer. Rainforests also keep

The Pros And Cons Of Hitachi
I. Introduction
In this decade, design thinking has been captured attention from innovation scholars.
Design thinking, originated from basic practices of designers, is a series of
activities and attitudes toward bringing innovation [3][26]. This idea does not claim
a necessity of being a designer, but designers may have a high potential to be an
innovator in a various occasion.
In fact, recent management studies discovered that industrial designers contribute to
innovative scientific research in the natural science field [5][29]. These studies
clearly illustrate how industrial designers tactfully set a demand pull goal and
facilitate consensus building among research project members.
They are also likely to achieve technological innovation in the industry sector.
Reference [27] found their superiority in setting a consumer oriented goal. Indeed, a
versatile entrepreneur and industrial designer, James Dyson, invented a novel vacuum

This company has a certain global market share in the general electronics field, such
as electricity generators or transportation systems, similarly it grabs 25% of the
domestic home electrical appliance market in 2010. It has a central design department
and industrial designers basically assign to the department. A striking benefit of
choosing Hitachi is in its design right (a patent like protection system for a shape of
products, and similar to design patent in the United States) documents. The majority
of patent or design right applicants do not indicate detailed affiliations of every
inventor/creators in their application documents; however, this company
exceptionally indicates its design creators affiliation at the department level. Thus, by
connecting this information with patent data, we can estimate at a high accuracy that
whether an inventor is an industrial designer or

An Example Of Activists
Activists have a lot in common. They all are inspired, make their voices heard, and
accomplish something.
How are they inspired you might ask? Ordinarily they went through something that
made them take off what they re doing or did. Or they could have done something
small that grew and grew the more they did it. For instance, Malala Yousafzai, she
did something really small, just blogging about her opinion and then the Taliban (A
form of Islam) shot her. That shows that a little thing can end up big. Another
example is Faye Carey. Faye announces We picked up a puppy in the pound the first

The Historical And Intellectual Trends
Modern Cuban culture cannot simply be defined in a singular fashion. The
convergence of peoples from multiple ethnic and cultural backgrounds, ranging from
the Iberia and Italy to Africa and China has significantly influenced the evolution of
the unique culture of the Cuban population. However, of these, it is the Spanish and
African influences that have very distinctly remained, shaping societal norms, and
setting culturally artistic precedents. For Afro Cubans however, the struggle to
greater recognition of cultural influence has been enormous. Racial oppression and
socio economic disparity has been a tumultuous journey for Cubas (population of

In his famous text, Cuban Counterpoint: Tobacco and Sugar, Ortiz explains how the
cultures and peoples that descended upon the island, beginning with the native
Ciboney and Taino, did not simple assume one another s culture, but converged to
create completely new cultures and societal norms (Ortiz, 99). Though sadly, the
majority of these original tribes were completely eliminated by the Spanish, they
remain alive in words such as, manatee, hammock, hurricane, and tobacco
(Kronenburg, 51). However, to say that Spanish and African peoples descended upon
Cuba would be misleading; hence the more accurate use of transculturation to
describe the intersection of a range of cultures from the Iberian Peninsula including
Galicians, Basque, Portuguese, and from western Africa including Congolese,
Angolan, and Guinean (Kronenburg, 52).
Even more interesting than the etymology of Cuba s ethnic history is the
implications of how transculturation played into the historical and social construction
of power dynamics in Cuba. Ortiz states that throughout Cuban history, one culture
was not only attempting to gain power and wealth for themselves, but systematically
set up a culture that disenfranchised another population; this is seem most directly
with the institution of slavery by the Spanish (Ortiz, 101). The power dynamic
created by the institution of slavery can certainly be pointed to as a

Essay Military Discipline
Military Discipline
1.General.The word discipline comes from the Latin word disciplД«na which means
to instruct . Discipline is a specific form of instruction which develops self control,
character, and efficiency. Military discipline is that mental attitude and state of
training which renders obedience instinctive under all conditions. It is founded upon
respect for, and loyalty to properly constituted authority. While it is developed
primarily by military drill, every feature of military life has its effects on military
discipline. It is generally indicated in an individual or unit by smartness of

famous, the ghastly, sentence of decimation. The tribune called the legion on parade
and ordered to the front those who were guilty of desertion of their ranks. He
reprimanded them, called them every name he could think of. This was not just
another sermon. Everyone knew how it was going to end. Now I want each of you
to choose a number, he told them. And by lot one out of every ten men was chosen to
pay the penalty. What penalty? On the tribune s order, the army fell on these men
their comrades and clubbed them to death, mercilessly.
The rest of the guilty men were allowed to live, but possibly they thought death was
preferable to the humiliation they had to suffer then. They were told to quarter
themselves outside the camp walls, where they were unprotected; and they were
given rations of barley horse food rather than wheat for sustenance. Their disgrace

Characterisation of Metabolically Active yet Non culturable Cells (MAyNC) Project
Report,BIOT 685 Directed Studies under Dr.Pillai Abstract eBeam technology uses
high energy electrons produced from the commercial electricity by linear
accelerators for applications in various fields such as food irradiation, vaccine
development, wastewater treatment, biopolymers, therapeutics, etc. The objective of
the project was to study the inactivation kinetics of Salmonella and Escherichia coli
strains when exposed to 8.5 and 10 MeV eBeam. Microorganisms treated with a
lethal dosage of eBeam tend to be metabolically active for a considerable period of
time after their exposure to the radiation. The high energy eBeam breaks the bonds of
the double stranded DNA and thereby hinders the replication of the micro organism.
Furthermore, the metabolic activity during different post irradiation treatments was
monitored using the AlamarBlueВ® Assay and the BacTiter Gloв„ ў Microbial Cell
Viability Assay. The AlamarBlueВ® assay quantitates the metabolic activity by
measuring the reductive and oxidative reactions in the cell while the latter assay
measures the concentration of ATP in the cells. These assays are good indicators of
the metabolic activity in the microbial cells since they measure two different aspects
of the cell s viability. Introduction: Electron beam (eBeam) is a form of ionizing
radiation produced from electricity using accelerators.

beef supply falls, beef prices will increase. As chicken prices are lower than beef
prices, the demand for chicken would then increase.

Ticket scalping is when event tickets purchased from primary markets (such as box
offices) are resold on secondary markets. Tickets are purchased at official prices set
by ticketing agents (P), and then sold at higher prices, to those who are willing to
buy it (Ps). Therefore, profits drive scalpers to initiate such activities, which leads to
excess demand, and ultimately not allowing the market to clear.
When tickets (the official fixed amount, therefore having perfectly inelastic supply)
is sold out, there is a shortage and excess demand is present, as Qd is more than Qs.
Scalpers then increase their ticket selling price from P to Ps, reducing demand closer
to Qs, until it reaches Qs=Ps.

As seen from the surplus diagram above, scalping does not affect producer surplus
(ticket office) and total surplus. This is because the supply curve is perfectly
inelastic, which leads to scalpers gaining a surplus, as they are able to sell at a
higher price than expected. This causes consumer surplus to decrease, as consumers
have to pay more for scalpers tickets.

The Ambiguity Of The Iconic
This essay will explore the ambiguity of the Iconic, what does it stand for in the
modern world of architecture and how does it originate. The obsession of
architecture with this term is slowly taking over; architects strive towards creating
Iconic buildings as a way to gain fame. How does one design an Iconic building and
what does it imply when placed within a particular context? We will explore this
through a particular architectural project of the church of San Giovanni Battistaunder
Florence, an icon which never really succeeded in achieving its purpose and yet
contains some of the very fundamental and curcial ideas about the Iconic which I
want to express in this essay. Why does one building (such as the Eiffel toweror
London Gherkin)become symbolic for a city while other attempt to replicate this
phenomenon fail? And most importantly what role does the context (as a city

Which can be seen protruding right underneath the tilted buttress. It is a set of

meaning of church bells. The element seizes to act as a highlight point of a tower,
that used to be the case in many churches including Russian orthodox and Italian
Catholic architecture, where the bell tower always stoodabove the rest of the
structure and the surrounding. Thus bearing symbolic and practical value. In the
church of the highway however, the bells are beneath the weight of architecture,
hidden by the concrete slabs. This furthermore reinforces Michelucci s idea of
creating an icon of speed: architecture that is not meant to become a centre of a
town or unifying element of society, but rather a glimpse of a flash. The bells are no
more needed to spread the sound over long distance, which was the case in a city, and
therefore lose their original significance. Instead the bells transform into a purely

The Effectiveness Of Animal Protection Laws Essay
The Effectiveness of Animal Protection Laws in the United States Almost eight
million dogs and cats are surrendered to local shelters each year. Of those nearly
three million are euthanized in the U.S. according to the ASPCA. There are only
three federal laws in the nation regarding animals, The Animal Welfare Act
(AWA), Humane Methods of Slaughter Act, and the Twenty Eight Hour Act of
1877. The AWA specifies regulation for domesticated pets, while the other two are
for livestock and humane killings, but these don t even include chickens! States
are responsible for any other animal laws, while in the European Union (EU),
fifteen countries implement and provide legislation on proper animal care across
the board. Why is it that the United States hasn t passed any federal legislation
since 1966? Are states laws really enough? Federal domestic animal law should be
more stringent. Many owners regard their pets as children. There are an
unsurmountable amount of laws regarding the treatment and wellbeing of a child.
However, because these animals are seen as personal property, the same type of
effort has not been placed forth for the fur babies . Laws are instituted for the
protection of humanity; however, this planet is shared with many other species who
deserve even the simplest of protections. Legislation focuses heavily on the proper
care and treatment of pigs, sheep, and cows; but, not man s best friend? Legislation
for the humane treatment of pets only exists at the state

William Damon The Death Of Honesty Summary
The essay The Death of Honesty by William Damon explores how honesty is
becoming unexpected and infrequently used in society today. Written in a general
style without difficult or complicated words it is obvious the author intends for his
point to be easily understood by his readers. Using a convincing argument, the virtue
of honesty is approached in an objective manner. Published by the Hoover Institute,
Damon s topic of honesty fits well into this publication because the institute fosters
development of freedom. Accordingly Damon s paper outlines the virtue of honesty
as necessary for civilized and democratic society.
By placing his counter argument at the beginning of the essay, he craftily refutes the
argument and provides his views. Using an inductive thesis at the end of his essay
works well to explain Damon s position as he appears to maintain a diplomatic view.
The cause and effect rationale is convincing. Words such as dishonesty, lying, and
cheating are used interchangeably, while Damon writes about dishonesty more than
he writes on honesty. Using emotions and ethical dilemmas he details justifications
for lying. Descriptive words are used to highlight his opinion of honesty. Damon
defines honesty as a virtue while giving blame to those he feels responsible for its
decline.
Three topic paragraphs, one sentence long are scattered throughout the essay
providing transition from introduction, to summarizing, and closing parts of his
paper. They serve to give emphasis to the main points, first, teaching honesty, second,
how this teaching is failing, and thirdly, how civilization requires honesty. Overall the
sentences are sometimes complex providing variety, and allowing flow that keeps the
reading from becoming monotonous. Paragraph lengths are short, consisting of the
one sentence paragraphs to relatively few sentences, often just four, that appear
undeveloped, but the complexity of the sentences allow the thoughts that are
expressed to be complete.
While explaining that lying helps in less than ideal situations, Damon details how
untruths can reassure provide compassion, [and] diplomacy . Giving examples of
where dishonesty has been not only the ethical choice but an honorable

Nietzsche Chapter 17
Jonathan Liddle
Chapter 17 Essay Friedrich Nietzsche begins with a proposition that there are only
two basic types of morality Slave morality and Master Morality. These types of
moralities that Nietzsche proposes were initially formed when society was actually
made up of masters and slaves. In society masters were completely free and slaves
simply did whatever their masters said. Based on their respected situations Nietzsche
argues these groups of people came up with two very different types of morality. Of
course there are no longer any literal masters and slaves in todays society, however
Nietzsche proposes while master and slaves no longer exist, the moral systems they
came up with do. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you re a slave then your entire life is dominated by your master, everything you
do is for him/her. Clearly in this position as a slave, you will come to resent your
master, in fact you will come to resent your master so much that you will begin to
think of your master as evil and everything that she values is equally evil. Moral
evil enters the picture in slave morality as a form of resentment for the master and
everything the master values things like courage, pride, nobility and bravery. So if
slave morality gets off the ground by thinking about the evil master, then where
does goodness come into the picture for slave morality? The slave will think about
it like this, evil is the opposite of goodness, I am the opposite of the master and the
master is evil. Therefore, it must be good to be a slave. Moral goodness in other
words means being a good slave. For instance, a good slave is humble, never draws
attention to himself, so it must be morally good to be humble. A good slave is also
blindly obedient. Does whatever he is told without questioning. Therefore, blind
obedience must be a good

Review Of V. C. B. L. T. S. Ramachandran ( B )
For as long as he can remember, V. S. Ramachandran (b. 1951) has been fascinated
by any kind of strange phenomenon in nature. As narrated in chapter 1 (see here), at a
very young age he began collecting seashells from beaches near his home in Madras.
In researching the subject, his attention was drawn to the most peculiar varieties of
seashells, such as the carnivorous murex. Soon he added these unusual specimens to
his collection. As he got older, he transferred this interest to abnormal phenomena in
chemistry, astronomy, and human anatomy. Perhaps he intuited that these anomalies
fulfilled some kind of purpose in nature, that what does not fit the pattern has
something interesting to tell us. Perhaps he felt that he himself with his passion for
science when other boys were attracted to sports or games was a bit of an anomaly
as well. In any event, as he matured his attraction to the bizarre and abnormal only
grew.
In the 1980s, as a professor of visual psychology at the University of California at
San Diego, he came upon a phenomenon that appealed to his interest in anomalies in
the deepest way the so called phantom limb syndrome. In this case, people who have
had a limb amputated continue to experience sensation and pain where the limb used
to be. In his research as a visual psychologist, Ramachandran had specialized in
optical illusions instances in which the brain would incorrectly fill in information
from what the eyes had processed. Phantom limbs represented an

Themes of Identity and Heritage in White Teeth
Themes of Identity and Heritage in White Teeth
A suicidal man with no place in the world, an African American woman who wants
to get away from her own mother, and a Bengali man who is conflicted with himself
and his culture; these characters make the basis for almost all events in Zadie Smith
s novel, White Teeth. The story of White Teeth takes place in a diverse London
between the periods of 1974 and 1992, beginning with Archie Jones attempt at
suicide. Archie and his long time friend Samad and their families must cope with
their internal struggles and solve their external conflicts with each other throughout
the novel. Through this process roots and relationships are discovered. In White
Teeth, Smith includes a variety of themes, revealed using a wide range of different
literary devices. One of the most crucial themes in the book is the repetition of the
theme, identity and heritage. Identity and heritage are a crucial part of how the book
s story unravels. Smith reveals this theme using a multitude of literary elements,
which include the use of setting, imagery, characterization, and more. Some devices
are used more than others, and others even barely. The most essential ways Smith
uses these devices to convey the theme of identity and heritage is through the use of
allegory, symbolism, and characterization.
With allegory, we will first start with Samad. Samad plays an important role in
conveying allegory, and a mixture of hidden themes, just based on how his thoughts

Completing All Of My Assignments For Writing
After completing all of my assignments for Writing 102, I have learned to manage my
researching and synthesizing skills in a different way. Furthermore, I now have a
better understanding of what I should include in my synthesizing process. After
reviewing the learning objectives, I have found that integrating evidence,
synthesizing, and producing research based writingin context are now familiar to me.
When I had passed in my first synthesis, a lot of the feedback that was given to me
was to further evaluate my context. The revisions that were provided, gave me the
chance to revaluate and restructure my evidence for a stronger summary. In my
opinion, synthesizing was the most important duty in this course. It taught me how to
closely match similar ideas together for a single analysis. It was interesting to weave
out information from one text and pair it with another. For example, in Synthesis #1,
I included both authors, Barbara Ehrenreichand Robert Reich. Ehrenreich s piece of
writing talked about the living conditions of a maid while Reich focused his work on
sinking boats. Even though each author talked about different circumstances, they
both discussed income inequality. Building my synthesizing skills was a major
advantage to me. I can now express to works that have similarities and differences.
Having a variety of examples that explain the same message in a different way is
important to include. This will influence readers in the point a writer is trying to make.

Jordan Peele Get Out Analysis
Have you ever considered why you feel a powerful desire for horror films?
According to Stephen King, we crave horror films to show we are not afraid, to re
establish our sense of normality, and to give an outlet to our anti civilization
emotions. (Why We Crave Horror Films) Jordan Peele s film challenges white
people, who live in social environments, protected and isolated from racebased stress.
They re provided with racial comfort, yet they have a lower tolerance for racial
pressure. Jordan Peele s film, deals with the more common forms of racism, but it
focuses more on the progressive liberal whites and how they contribute to silencing
African Americans, causing them to be trapped in the sunken place. Get Out
follows the story of Chris, a young black man who has been dating Rose, a young
white girl for five months. Rose takes Chris to meet her parents Missy and Dean
who seem totally normal at first. Chris starts to get creeped out by everything
happening at the Armitage house. Chris wonders if these things are actually
happening or he is just being paranoid. According to critiques the film Get Out is

same situation as Chris would do everything in their power to escape from the

The Bible in Relation to Slavery Essay
The Bible is the best selling book of all time, and with good reason. For the stories
written in it have changed the way many think and even believe when it comes to
the power greater than this world. The Bible holds very specific opinions on things
such as slavery, who humans should treat each other, and ultimately social justice.
It has been one of the most important foundations for allowing social reform to
occur in modern day history as well as the history of the whole world. However, it
is forgotten in history class how prominent the ancient texts have changed the
people. When looking at the history, it is discovered to be the strength of great
people who have used its wisdom to bring about a change for those who could not do

It has set the tone forever on how we should treat and help people who are forced
into labor and servitude. The first acknowledgement to make is that of the
midwives of the Hebrews. They can be the considered one of the first peoples to
stand up before a power greater than them and act in a way of silent dignity. But the
midwives feared God; they did not do as the king of Egypt commanded them, they let
the children live. (The New Oxford Annotated Bible 4th Ed., Exodus 1.17). In The
Gifts of the Jews, Thomas Cahill clearly explains that their decision to not follow the
Pharaoh makes them ultimately more worthy than the mighty king who rules over
them. The instance that is being discussed is before Moses and Ramses. When a
pharaoh thought he should place the execution of Hebrew slaves in the hands of
the Hebrew midwives. They are people of stature real individuals who are worthy
of names, unlike the little god king (Cahill, 99). This is a powerful message to
remember when looking at the people of history who have been the leaders of
abolishing slavery. The slave owners remain nameless, but Abraham Lincoln will
be forever remembered for his acts. The two midwives in their act to let the
newborn children live can be considered an example for all future movements
towards the resolution to end slavery, or even to stand up simply for what is wrong.
Their act is small compared to the entire telling of the book of exodus, but if society

Common Misconceptions Of The Health Community
Common misconceptions in the health community revolve around what the body
needs versus what media says the body needs. Are dietary supplements efficient? Are
they even necessary? To answer these questions, one must investigate the three most
popular supplements herbal, pill, and gel capsules in order to determine which type
best suits the body s needs.
Although they are one of the most ancient practices of medicine, certain herbal
supplements have no impact on the body while others do. Herbs are a type of plant,
but the stem of an herb is not as hardy, [and does not have a] woody structure which
makes herbs easy to consume ( Herbs ). Because herbs do not have a woody
structure they have the capacity to be consumed in various ways. In the past herbs
were consumed as tea, although this practice is still in effect; people prefer
consuming herbs via extractions. One of the most popular methods of extraction is
the whole herb method which asserts that all of a plant s compounds contribute to
its ability to heal and protect health [;] this method ensures that one receives the
purest form of the natural herb (Ogden). Purity is a standard that many companies
swear by, and herbal companies are no different. Herb Pham, for example, is a
very popular liquid herbal supplement; liquid forms of any type of remedy are
known to be absorbed by the body quickest, but the companies research shows that
many of the types of herbs they sell have little to no effect on the body. One of the

Two weeks further into the journey communications have been restored and they

in order to make contact with our new found alien neighbors called the Calibrians.
They were discovered through a new technology that had been designed for

##er Affect And Queer Temporality In Charlotte Bronte s...
Both the scholarly community and the public alike recognize Jane Erye as a
feminist classic, a bold social commentary penned by a daring woman intent on
shedding light on the hypocrisy that riddled Victorian English society. Indeed, the
rise of the character Jane Eyre from a suppressed and maltreated orphan to a
woman capable of grasping at independence and whose husband needs her as much
as, possibly even more, than she needs him, appears on the surface to be a tale
meant to empower any female. However, there is a limit to how much light
Charlotte BrontГ« deigns to shed, and its feeble rays fall short of a dank, gloomy,
and locked room on the third floor of Thornfield Hall. In The Maniac Bellowed :
Queer Affect and Queer Temporality in Charlotte BrontГ« s Jane Eyre , Carolyn
Marjorie Davis asserts that the arms of BrontГ« s feminism do not embrace women
who fail to fulfill certain standards of domesticity and femininity, namely, they do not
embrace Bertha Mason, the mad and muscular, foreign and forgotten wife of Edward
Rochester. Davis analyzes how the elements of queerness, in the form of gender
nonconformity, in Bertha s character, as well as her ethnic background, make her
intolerably other in relation to the gender conforming, Angelo Saxon characters, and
claims that the incarceration and eventual death of Bertha represent Charlotte
BrontГ« s own imperialistic and hegemonic prejudices. A careful reading of Bertha,
her actions, and the reactions of the

The Romance Of The Rose Analysis
The Romance of the Rose was written in the 13th century by Guillaume de Lorris
and Jean de Meun. De Lorris was a French poet that wrote the first section of the
poem, while De Meun was a French author that wrote the second section. After de
Lorris wrote the first section, he died, which lead to de Meun finishing it. Their
parts are related but have many differences. As de Lorris section is very
comprehendible, de Meuns is vaguer and requires more critical thinking. The poem
has created an abundance of arguments surrounding the topic of a women s dignity
and role. These arguments had immense impacts on today s pop culture. The book
developed the notion of lovenot being an emotion, but more of a pose. They did
this by making characteristics, such as Courtesy, Beauty, and Wealthy, as
characters themselves to see how they would act in certain circumstances. This
helps the reader believe that the authors are trying to display how these traits are
treated in real life. The author states, FIer color made her look like a new rosel and
her skin was so tender that one could tear it with a tiny thorn (de Lorris 42), which
helps the reader understand how the characters names will be a big part of the poem
and the moral surrounding it. It also suggests that some women are less fragile, and
harder to pursue than others which is directly related to how people perceive women
outside of the poem. The imagery and descriptions of the narrator s thoughts controls
how the whole poem is

BRIEFING NOTES FOR THE MINISTER OF FINANCE
REINTRODUCING VIDEO LOTTERY TERMINALS (VLTS) INTO ONTARIO
The Purpose:
The purpose of this note is to inform the Minister and her policy community of Bill
75 Alcohol Gaming and Charity Funding Public Interest Act 1996 and the
amendments to the Gaming Control Act, 1992 to legalize video lottery terminals
(VLTs). Before re introducing VLTs into Ontario, it is critical to understand the
strategies and outcomes that led to its current legislation.
Current Situation:
After the snap election, the new PC Government is considering introducing VLTs into
Ontario to generate more non tax revenue. The current legislation gives exclusive
VLTs rights to race tracks. It is anticipated that there will be two major ... Show more

The race tracks: They will not give up its exclusive rights easily. If more of Ontario
had access to VLTS, race tracks will generate less revenue from VLTS.
2.Gambling addiction groups: Attempts to bring them on were unsuccessful when the
amendments were made to the Gaming Control Act. It is safe to assume these
organizations will oppose VLTs again.
Background:
The issue was framed to bring economic benefit to Ontario and eliminate illegal VLTs.
The economic benefits included: non tax revenue for the government, licensing fees
to municipalities, money for charity bingos and race tracks, employment in the
hospitality sector, and money for gambling addiction.
Alliances were formed with those who would benefit from the legalization of VLTS
and would lobby the government. This included associations involved in the
following industries: hotel and motels, brewers, food suppliers, video lottery
manufacturers and hospitality unions.
Recommended Next Steps:
A similar approach that led Bill 75 to legalize VLTs and gave exclusive rights to
race tracks has a history of success and a similar approach can be used again. The
race tracks may oppose in order to keep exclusive VLTS rights. They are aware of
the strategy that led to the success of Bill 75 and can create an effective counter
strategy to prevent the current government from succeeding in a similar fashion.
The first steps to take in re introducing VLTs is to approach the stakeholders who
supported VLTs in the past and have them vocalize their support towards extending
the rights outside of race

The Ten Year Cultural Revolution
The ten year Cultural Revolution, in essence, was a political power struggle inside
of the CCP, and as Mao died on September 9 1976, the Gang of Four was arrested
soon on October 10. Since Mao s successor Hua Guofeng was politically weak, Deng
Xiaoping came back to power. Though the new leaders tried to help China recover
from the revolution and rebuild the economic systems, the influences of the
revolution did not vanish quickly. The Party had to deal with the mistakes that Mao
made during the revolution, make the resolution on the revolution, and formulated
the new road that the country should follow. Other than the political struggles that the
Party faced, the society also created troubles. The intellectuals, especially the sent
down youths who illegally came back to cities, were excited and looking forward to a
democratic government, and they again started to criticize the government and
commented on the politics just like their predecessors did in the Hundred Flowers
Campaign. However, this situation did not satisfy Deng, who emphasized that the
correct line for China was to insist the absolute principle of the Party (Meisner, 457),
and he then decided to consolidate his power. In general, though Cultural Revolution
ended, the political struggles that it represented never stopped, and would be
continued for years. Meinser points out that Mao did construct the country and lead
its people to reach many striking successes, including building a modern nation state,

Ferrin s Process Of Inductive Bible Study
Ferrin s process of inductive Bible study takes on a relational approach that consists
of three essential parts or phases titled Foundation, Framing, and Finish Work. The
structured methods encompass studying a book of the Bible and internalizing it
rather than just memorizing the words (p. 3). The author diligently explains how that
through the devoted application of all phases individuals and group Biblestudy
participants are sure to fall in love with Gods Word (p. 3). Ferrin presents and or
describes Scripture internalizationas taking in the truth and then applying it to
everyday life or living. Ferrin pointed out that the benefits of understanding biblical
messages book by book include the Living Word of God becoming a reality within
persons that grow more enjoyable and rewarding as time comes and goes.
On a personal note, I practice reading the Bible through the process of observation.
For instance, I practice learning what to look for in the text; interpreting the
meaning; I prayerfully seek God and through the power of the Holy Spirit I can
apply what I read. Nevertheless, I feel Ferrin s process of inductive Bible study
might prove more productive and edifying both personally and in a group.
Moving forward and upon careful consideration, I find that Ferrin s four step
building a house analogy approach might help me to get to know a book of the Bible
and all of its elements. For example, during the foundation phase the background
study of the author,

The Pros And Cons Of Screenwriting
Many people who dream of making it big in hollywood go straight to acting or
directing. Many don t think about the behind the scenes workers, screenwriters.
Screenwriting gives you the freedom of speaking freely, expressing opinions and
lets you use your imagination to write stories, stories that will eventually become
movies one day. Screenwriting about any genre you choose to write about could
inspire people through words and teach people through images. You could live the
life so many dream of; being able to make movies. Screenwriting although
competitive has many unique features such as: it does not require multiple years
of schooling, much training isn t needed and you can work from home. To become
a screenwriter you need to be able to take criticism, you need to be good at time
management, you need to be creative, hardworking and determined. Screenwriting
has been around for ages in many different forms from onstage to in films. When
screenwriting first began, a screenplay was called a scenario. Scripting was mainly
used for stage acting but as filming became popular it was used for movies. In the
1890 s films were only about two minutes long. Scenarios were used to summarize
and explain the short movies (Donelly, Michelle). The earliest movie to be similar to
a modern screenplay is from George Melies 1902 film, A trip to the Moon (Donelly,
Michelle). Its screenplay was descriptive, most similar to a modern screenplay. The

Hero Makes A Hero
Heroes are the certain type of people that would give up their own life, just to
protect you and the people around them when things go wrong. A quote from
Robert De Niro he says Time goes on so whatever you re going to do, do it. Do it
right now. I think a hero would use this quote in a tough situation like if he were
trying to save someone he would do it now because time goes on. A herorepresents
the people, a hero makes many sacrifices that a everyday person couldn t think of
doing. A hero is always trying to do the right even when things don t always go their
way, or the way they need it to go, overall, hero stays strong. Heroes make sacrifices
to protect those around them. A quote from Doctor

country is saved Over the grief of president lincoln being assassinated, he believes
that lincoln is an almighty hero for re uniting the union, defeating the south, and
free all the slaves in the South. Lincoln is recognized for all his accomplishments,
and his overall heroism. Lincoln made so many sacrifices and I think he is the
hero of the north and liberator of the slaves. Another quote from Donald Trump is
Sometimes by losing a battle you find a new way to win the war. This quote
represents a hero in so many ways because sometimes a hero cannot have always go
their way. But if the hero learns from his mistakes like what trump is saying when he
says the battle is lost learn from your

Impact Of Romanticism In The Late Victorian Age
I was a man who stood in the symbolic relations to the art and culture of my age. 1
The late Victorian age saw a revolution in the sphere of art and literature. John
Ruskin, Matthew Arnold, Walter Pater, and Oscar Wilde were among the most
influential art and literary critics of the yellow nineties. They baffled the British
opinion with their brand new stance on literature, paintings, and sculptures. They
turned criticism into a new form of art, which redefined and theorised art as well as
literature. Their new theories were utterly modern and absolutely new for the period,
which has come to be known as the English Renaissance. This English Renaissance
of Art was defined by Oscar Wilde as: a sort of new birth of the spirit of man, like ...

The Blackwood s edition of the Edinburgh Magazine issued in July 1889 carried
Wilde s Portrait of Mr W.H, but Blackwood wrote to Wilde suggesting that the story
be reprinted in a volume from the Tales from Blackwood s.9 To which Wilde
replied that the text was too literary. 10 Wilde had another idea for a collections of
essays that had been written and published earlier in the same year: will you
compromise and bring it out in a special volume of essays and studies by me? As a
frontispiece we will have an etching of the fictitious Portrait of Mr W.H, 11 while

Wilde had yet another intention for his essays and wanted to published an
extended version of The Portrait of Mr W.H by itself. In 1890 Wilde returned to
the idea of a collections of essays with a new essay, which had been published in
the Nineteenth Century in July and September 1890, this essay in two parts was
first entitled The True Function and value of criticism 12 and would later be know
as The Critic as Artist. In 1885 Wilde revised an essay originally called Shakespeare
and Stage Costume and turned it into The Truth of Masks. Intentions thus came into
being, but not to Wilde s satisfaction, he

Industrialization Impact Essay
Industrialization brought machines to the forefront of efficiency and profit for many
new entrepreneurs, and many technological advancement such as the telegraph and
the transcontinental railroad radically improved communication and transportation.
With such advancements to society, social and economical changes occurred where
more people moved from an agrarian society to an urban society, and during this
transition, the conditions of life grew worse as the wealth gap increased from
working in factories. Although the wealth of some Americans contributed to the
growth of the American economy, industrialization took a toll on much of the society
because working conditions were horrific, living conditions in cities were far from
sanitary, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Houses were split into tenements that each housed multiple families in an apartment
with no windows or air ventilation which can cause respiratory diseases, and
sanitation stations were such as toilets and bathtubs were significantly unproportional
to the population. The owners of these tenements were more focused on earning the
most profit rather than providing a safe and clean sojourn for working families, and
the ramifications were that disease spread rapidly due to the close proximity to others
and unsanitary conditions. Measles could spread easily due to the density of people
that occupy the same room in the same air, and when an infected person coughs,
everyone in the room can catch the disease if the room is without ventilation. Without
the sewage system, excrement was left in the streets where it produced a rancid odor
and contaminated water. Therefore, an epidemic of cholera accounted for many
deaths in the slums. No governmental regulations existed at the time because
inspections costed money and time, so at the time, the government practiced laissez
faire.
Corruption in the government and economy was caused by wealthy men who gained
wealth through unethical practices. Although these men were responsible for high
efficiency of their particular industry, these men are referred as Robber Barons to
describe them as wealthy businessmen who unethically gains wealth and power. For

Anti Curfew Law
You can t tame a wild mustang, so why try and control teenager who wants as many
freedoms as possible. Curfews set by the Government may seem like a good idea, but
it s not. The idea of laws enforcing a curfew for teenagers is not a good one, it
unfairly takes away a teenagers freedom. If there is a law about a curfewand a teen
does not like it, there is a high chance that they will just stay out past curfew.
Curfew in a household is specified by the parents. If the parents and child both
state their case on a time, and agree on it, the child will keep their word. If there is

that teens cannot try and negotiate a time that is fair. If a teen believes that the
curfew time is not fair and wants hangout with friends or go to a party, they will
most likely sneak out. The point of the curfew is to keep people safe and make
sure they do not get in trouble, but if a teenager is going to sneak out anyway, what
s the point. A curfew law is a good idea on paper for parents who worry about there
children, but there is no true way to make sure they are safe without taking away
there freedoms, and that is what a Government forced curfew would do. Not all
teenagers are bad and stay out past curfew just to party and hangout with friends,
sometimes teens need to stay out late. High school students have extra curricular
activities they do after school. I know from personal experiences that sometimes you
can get home from a sporting event after a scheduled curfew. That is one of the first
things i was

Undocumented Immigration Issues
Charles B.Rangel once state a quote about immigrants settling in America. America
was born as a nation of immigrants who have always contributed to its greatness .
This country is based on freedom, not having amnesty for immigrants has a positive
and negative outcome. Statistically, it is about 11.2 million unauthorized immigrants
residing in America, with that being said, without the statics Americans wouldn t
even notice because there are so many people in this country with different faces
seen daily. For instance, when researching I notice a few articles mentioning politics
quite often. Therefore, I began to ask myself does not having an amnesty law cause
legislative issues? According to one article, From 2000 through 2014 when... Show

The largest percentage of illegal immigrants (8 percent) is in Nevada. About 5
percent of the US workforce is made up of illegal immigrants. States with the
highest percentage of illegal immigrant workers are Nevada, California, Texas and
New Jersey (usamnesty.org 1). Having these statistics is proof that the topic is
always up in the air because of different beliefs everyone has. In fact, our own
home state was of the thirteen silent about the issue but we are said to have many
undocumented immigrants working for us. Considering, the State of New Jersey is
technically not abiding by the laws and many employers are not following laws
issued by the IRS tax wise. Hence, why our governor is silent knowing that illegal
actions are

Taking a Look at Water Chlorination
4.0 Water Chlorination
4.1 What is water chlorination?
Water chlorination is another process that is commonly used in the water treatment
industry. Chlorination can be defined as the addition of chlorine or hypochlorite to a
water supply for disinfection purposes. Pathogens present in drinking water can cause
serious diseases upon consumption and therefore need to be treated (Safe Drinking
Water Foundation, 2009). Chlorination is one of the various methods that is used to
deactivate these pathogens and can be found in operation at many municipal works
across the country, including Killylane water treatment works. It is often found as
one of the final stages in a multiple stage treatment process, usually following a
filtration process.
Pathogens come in a variety of forms, such as viruses, bacteria or protozoa, and can
have devastating, even fatal consequences if not treated in a water supply. Before the
mainstream introduction of disinfection into the water treatment process, waterborne
pathogens regularly caused epidemics, and diseases like typhoid, cholera and
dysentery were rife (Scientific American, 1998). As has been mentioned in the
previous chapter, the rapid gravity filtration process is relatively ineffective at
removing these pathogens from the water and therefore disinfection is required as a
follow up treatment. Adding chlorine to water can inhibit a large range of microbial
waterborne pathogens, either killing them or decreasing their activity to a
