Presenting B y Teaching Aids

INDEX Introduction of teaching aids Definition of teaching aids What is chart? Characteristics of chart Types of chart Advantages and disadvantages of chart Posters Characteristics of posters

Introduction Teaching aids are images, or instruments used for more clarification of concept. They make the learner understand deeply. The acquent to various types of teaching aids. Teaching aids play a vital role in conveying knowledge. Teaching aids can also check the dropout rare in both formal and non-formal education systems.

DEFINATION OF TECHING AIDS AN OBJECT (such as a book, picture or map) or device (such as DVD and computer) used by teachers to enhance or enliven classroom instruction < audiovisual teaching aids >

WHAT IS CHART? A sheet of information in the form of table, graph or diagram. a chart also called a graph, the price movements of a given time period, sometimes along with volume data. Chart are the main tool that technical analysts may use several different type of charts in order to conduct their tests and look for patterns in the data, including line chart, pie chart , bar chart, tree chart, candlestick chart.

CHARACTERISTICS IF CHART The main facts and figure clear and measuring. The emphasize the relationship. They show size and percentages of parts. They show operational procedures.

Advantages of chart Tells the message at a glance. Make facts and figures clear and intersecting Emphasize relationship between two or more components. accurate information can be given though shorter communication. Depicts and show the placement of parts very vividly. Emphasize and show operational procedures. Can be seen by a good number of views at a time. It is also used to summarize the topic precisely.

Disadvantages of chart It has limited used in areas of low literacy. It requires careful preparation; otherwise its effectiveness is lost.

Types of chart Pie chart Bar chart Line chart Tree chart Strip tease chart Flip over chart

Pie chart A type of graph in which circle is divided into sectors that each represent a proportion of the whole. It is idea for showing fractional relations. However, it is a difficult to prepare and to understand if the segments or percentages are to small, to or too similar.

Advantages of a pie chart A pie chart presents data as a simple and easy-to-understand picture. It can be an effective communication tool for even an uninformed audience, because it represents data visually as a fractional part of a whole. Readers or audiences see a data comparison at a glance, enabling them to make an immediate analysis or to understand information quickly. This type of data visualization chart removes the need for readers to examine or measure underlying numbers themselves. You can also manipulate pieces of data in the pie circle to emphasize points you want to make.

DISADVANTAGES OF A PIE CHART A pie chart becomes less effective if it uses too many pieces of data. For example, a chart with four slices is easy to read; one with more than 10 becomes less so, especially if it contains many similarly sized slices. Adding data labels and numbers may not help here, as they themselves may become crowded and hard to read. This kind of chart only represents one data set -- you need a series to compare multiple sets. This may make it more difficult for readers to analyze and assimilate information quickly. Comparing data slices in a circle also has its problems, because the reader has to factor in angles and compare non-adjacent slices. Data manipulation within the chart's design may lead readers to draw inaccurate conclusions or to make decisions based on visual impact rather than data analysis.

Bar chart A diagram in which the numerical values of variables are represented by the height or length of lines or rectangular of equal width. It is a simple and easy to construct and is used to make comparisons of two or more data. It has a zero base and the data is plotted with the help of horizontal or vertical bars. The length of the bar represents the amount in terms of percentages, calories, grams , mean, etc.

Advantages of bar chart show each data category in a frequency distribution display relative numbers or proportions of multiple categories summarize a large data set in visual form clarify trends better than do tables estimate key values at a glance permit a visual check of the accuracy and reasonableness of calculations be easily understood due to widespread use in business and the media

Disadvantages of bar chart require additional explanation be easily manipulated to yield false impressions fail to reveal key assumptions, causes, effects, or patterns

Line chart A line chart or line graph is a type of chart which displays information as a series of data points called ‘markers’ connected by straight line segments. It is a basic type of chart common in many fields.

Tree chart In the division and sub-division are represented by a trunk of tree with branches and sub branches, or a stream with its tributaries. E.g. Family tree or tree of home science, etc.

Advantages of tree chart Are simple to understand and interpret. People are able to understand decision tree models after a brief explanation. Have value even with little hard data. Important insights can be generated based on experts describing a situation (its alternatives, probabilities, and costs) and their preferences for outcomes. Allow the addition of new possible scenarios Help determine worst, best and expected values for different scenarios Use a white box model. If a given result is provided by a model. Can be combined with other decision techniques.

Disadvantages of tree chart For data including categorical variables with different number of levels, information gain in decision trees are biased in favor of those attributes with more levels. Calculations can get very complex particularly if many values are uncertain and/or if many outcomes are linked.

Strip tease chart  Striptease chart: Strip chart has some peculiar characteristics such as (1) it enables speakers to present the information step by step; (2) it increases the interest and imagination of the audience; (3) the information on the chart is covered with thin paper strips applied either by wax, tape or sticky substance or pins; (4) as the speaker wishes to visually reinforce a point with words or symbols, he removes the appropriate strip or paper; and (5) it produces interest and it increases learning and aids recall.

Flip over chart A  flip chart  is a stationery item consisting of a pad of large paper sheets. It is typically fixed to the upper edge of a whiteboard, typically supported on a tripod or four-legged easel. Such charts are commonly used for presentations . a flip chart is are great for uses in the classroom and in meeting because it gives you the ease to move quickly and have everything written down at the end.

Advantages of flip over chart Inexpensive- can be made from butcher paper reasonably portable Can be save Dependable encourage spontaneity Room light left on Easy to use Can use it for meeting regarding anything from suggestions to brainstorming on a new project.

Disadvantages of flip over chart They can be informal Limited writing space Changes are messy Instructor’s back to audience Limitations on size of room and audience Illegible handwriting. They are not good for large group message.

POSTERS A posters is a visual aids. This is the combined product of design, colour and message. It catches and holds the attention of viewers and conveys a single message at a glance. Posters cannot educate, they can only stimulate the people to get an ideas, and arouse interest to get more information about the area. poster is a symbolic representation to implant a message in the mined of a viewer in just single glance.

POSTERS

CHARACTERISTICS OF POSTERS A poster is a powerful advertising techniques whenever created properly. Every single good poster has many things in typical. A poster that is lost any of these properties is probably to underwhelm you alongside its functional performance. Keep these 5 attributes in mind because you design your upcoming poster printing venture.  1. It Can the task Quickly A poster's job is to communicate the information quickly and additionally efficiently. Many starting businesspeople think that they have to bring just as much as they can onto their posters. Unfortunately, trying to put too much information, or perhaps too many pictures, into your poster makes it look challenging and additionally cluttered. A cluttered poster cannot "talk" to its audiences promptly, which prevents it from doing its selected job. A good poster is simple and easy but effective. It informs everyone that looks at just it what they are expected to know without delay.

2. It Gets Attention Obviously, a good poster is appealing enough to bring in your target customers. You need to include elements into the poster that definitely will entice the target customers to examine the poster and get the information you want them to have. It is usually a good idea to include provides in your posters to achieve attention. Or, you are able to throw in some interesting information that pertains to your subject. You could include a mental picture or image which is attention grabbing.  3. It is Convincing Since you already stated, that you do not like to contain too much information in the poster. However, you must give your readers enough to convince them which just what you are saying is accurate. Utilize brief but powerful remarks to back up the claims. Be cautious not to overextend yourself. Do not make claims or exaggerations which you cannot defend. In truth, not producing any sort of claims at just all is usually a good piece of advice. Simply use just what you ought to get the point all over.

4. It Effectively Utilizes Color Monochrome posters are really not almost since effective as color posters. A poster which incorporates color into its scheme definitely will attract more watchers. Complete color brochures tend to be a lot more effective and additionally definitely will have a much more potent influence in your customers. Just be sure to use color in a strategic way, however. Utilizing the wrong colors can backfire in you.  5. It is Simple A few of the vast majority of effective posters west rand tend to be unexpectedly straight-forward. Few posters will not even have any text at every one of the, simply few well placed images and strategically picked colors. I'm not suggesting you should not use phrase in your poster - you need to - however always try to keep your poster because simple as you can, when nevertheless conveying the point. Each poster which you design must have one strong message; don't just be sure to do too a lot with it.

CONCLUSION Teaching aids provides creative way of teaching to the teacher and are more interesting to learn.
