Factors influencing Birth rate, Death rate and Net migration ____________________________
Factors influencing birth rates An increase in birth rate is due to: Religion - prohibits the use of contraceptives Tradition - many children is a sign of wealth Children are need to work on the land / labour Girls marry at an early age Women have limited education on family planning Government policies - some governments encourages people to have many children After the war 'baby-boom' Advancement in technologies can reduce infertility Countries with a stable political and economy will have a higher birth rate
A decrease in Birth rate is due to: Religion - prohibits the use of contraceptives Tradition - many children is a sign of wealth Children are need to work on the land / labour Girls marry at an early age Women have limited education on family planning Government policies - some governments encourages people to have many children After the war 'baby-boom' Advancement in technologies can reduce infertility Countries with a stable political and economy will have a higher birth rate
Factors influencing Death rates An increase in Death rates is due to: Poor medical facilities e.g. hospitals, clinics etc. Poor sanitation Natural disasters such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, drought, floods etc. Limited education War Diseases e.g. AIDS Famine / Sever drought Poor hygiene and lack of clean water
A decrease in Death rate is due to: Better medical care / Better improvement in medical care Improvement in sanitation - reduce risk of spreading disease Improved food supply - improved farming methods/techniques increases better food distribution Improved access to education Better living conditions Improved hygiene and clean drinking water
Factors influencing Net migration People will normally migrate because of a combination of push and pull factors. So what do we mean when we talk about push and pull factors ? Push Factor: Things that are driving you from the location that you live e.g. crime and pollution. Pull Factor: Things that are attracting you to a new location e.g. better job and nice weather.
Pull Factors: Better employment opportunities Mild climates Better hospitals, schools, entertainment etc. Fertile soils Absence of natural disasters Better housing Peaceful conditions in a country Better living conditions Push Factors Unemployment Very harsh climates like to cold or too hot areas Natural disasters Political unstable countries e.g. war Not enough facilities e.g. schools, hospitals, entertainment etc. Crop failure Land is unproductive Overcrowding Mechanisation - where machines replaces the farm worker
