VALUE
Value = Degree of Importance of Something
-Values are basic beliefs that guide our attitudes
or actions.

Honesty
Kindness

Determination
Attentiveness
Generosity
Courage
Tolerance
Trustworthiness
Self-Reliance
CORE VALUES ARE
CORE VALUES ARE
Core values are traits or qualities that represent
an individual's highest priorities, deeply held
beliefs, and core, fundamental driving forces.
Core values are not something that you choose
for yourself. Rather, they’re feelings and beliefs
that operate in the background of your mind and
influence your behavior.
Valuing difference
What a person could value, and second, the
degree to which they value it.
YOUR VALUES
Your values influence your behaviors, your
choices and your emotions. Your values
influence your habits, your lifestyle and your
social experiences.
your values represent what is important to
you. they are the driving force behind the
choices you make and why you behave the
way you do.
PERSONAL VALUES VS SOCIAL VALUES
Personal Values –
It is what is important for Individual well
being. Examples of personal values:
Self-respect
Comfortable life
Freedom
Etc.

It is what is important for other people’s well
being. Examples of social values:
Equality,
Social justice,
National security,
World peace

TWO BRANCHES OF VALUES
Terminal Values: Terminal Values are most
desirable to humans
Instrumental Values: Instrumental values are
views of how human desires should be
achieved.
TERMINAL VALUES
These are values that we think are most
important or most desirable.
These refer to desirable end-states of
existence, the goals a person would like to
achieve during his or her lifetime.
They include happiness, self-respect,
recognition, inner harmony, leading a
prosperous life, and professional excellence.
INSTRUMENTAL VALUES
Instrumental values deal with views on
acceptable modes of conductor means of
achieving the terminal values.
These include being honest, sincere, ethical,
and being ambitious. These values are more
focused on personality traits and character.
SOURCES OF VALUES
Family:
Family is a great source of values. A child
learns his first value from his family.
Friends & peers:
Friends and peers
play a vital role
in achieving values.
Community or society:
As a part of society, a person
learns values from society or different groups of
society.
School:
As a learner,
school and teachers also play a
very important role in introducing values.
