About This Presentation

The most famous Brands with their respective slogans, and the story of how they got it.

Slide Content

“DRINK CANADA DRY”

Canada Dry

Whilst they do in fact want you to drink Canada Dry (and
lots of it) this slogan also refers back to the 1920s where
alcohol was prohibited in Canada. With it becoming a ‘dry’
country, many people started brewing their own booze at
home, and Canada Dry became a popular mixer.

“THE HOME OF THE WHOPPER”

Burger King

Burger King's famous Whopper hamburger was launched in
1957, whereas McDonald's competing Big Mac wasn't
launched until 1967. Burger King boasts this original heritage
in its slogan. Around 41 Whoppers continue to get eaten
every second around the world today!

“JUST DO IT”

Nike

This slogan was created by Dan Wieden of ad agency
Wieden+Kennedy in the 1980s. It works incredibly well as a
motivational line to accompany the sports brand, but it was
actually inspired by the last words of a murderer awaiting
execution by firing squad.

“THINK DIFFERENT”

Apple

When Apple came up with this slogan in 1997, it saw a huge
boost in sales and in its stock prices. It gave the brand an
immediate innovative perception, and it followed this up
with the release of unique multi-coloured computers, and
many more revolutionary designs since.

“NOTHING COMES BETWEEN ME
AND MY CALVIN'S”

Calvin Klien

Whilst this slogan highlights the close bond people have
with their Calvin Klein jeans, underwear and other products,
it also adds to the rebellious and sexual nature of this
popular brand - which has produced some controversial
campaigns in its years.

“IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING”

Adidas

The Adidas slogan came about in 1974, and was actually
taken from a quote by legendary boxer Muhammad Ali. The
former Adidas Senior VP Erich Stamminger says the slogan

stands for the brand's aim to help sporting people "break

new ground and surpass their limits".

“THE ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE”

BMW

This slogan was originally created by a relatively unknown
ad agency called Ammirati & Puris back in the 1970s. It is a
bold (but fitting) claim that is difficult for customers to
ignore. BMW also tried a new 'Joy' slogan to attract more
women to the brand, but it wasn't successfull.

“EXPANDING POSSIBILITIES”

Hewlett Packard

Also known as simply HP, this brand is widely known for its
reliable and solid engineering, but also for innovation. The
slogan ties all of these things together, and highlights just
how much customers can do with the products, including

things that didn't seem possible before.

“PUT A TIGER IN YOUR TANK”

Esso

What do you think of when you think of a tiger? Power?
This is exactly why Esso chose to use a tiger for their
advertising campaigns and their slogan. The slogan was
written in 1959, and it refers to putting the energy and
performance of a tiger into your petrol or diesel tank.

“LET YOUR FINGERS DO THE
WALKING”

Yellow Pages

Before the Yellow Pages directory came around, people
had to walk from shop to shop to see if they provided the
service they required. With this directory however, people

could make their fingers do all the hard work, and simply

search and use their phone to call up in advance.

MAYBELLINE

“MAYBE SHE'S BORN WITH IT?
MAYBE IT'S MAYBELLINE?”

Maybelline

It's difficult not to think of this slogan whenever you hear
the Maybelline brand mentioned. The makeup company's
slogan hints at and promotes natural beauty. It tells women
that the makeup products will help them to enhance this
incredible beauty.

Reebok A

“| AM WHAT | AM"

Reebok

This slogan was created to encourage younger people to
find their own voices and embrace their individuality in
sport. It accompanied an ad campaign that celebrated

young sporting icons who had accomplished their dreams

by following their own unique path to greatness.

“OBEY YOUR THIRST”

Sprite

In the 1990s, Sprite wanted to appeal to a younger
audience, and that's why ad agency Lowe and Partners
came up with this slogan. It refers to a refreshing bottle of
Sprite being the perfect drink to quench thirst, and makes
consumers want to give into their temptations!

Y Einergizer |

“IT KEEPS GOING, AND GOING,
AND GOING...”

Energizer

Back in the 70s, a Duracell ad showed a bunny mascot
outperforming competitors, including Energizer. In the late
80s, Energizer created this slogan and showed their own
bunny mascot performed for even longer. Intended as a
one-off parody, the slogan and mascot have stuck!

“BECAUSE YOU'RE WORTH IT”

L'Oréal
This cosmetics brand makes women feel special, as the
slogan highlights that everyone deserves to treat
themselves, and they are all worth these luxurious
products. By starting with 'Because' it also cleverly
pre-empts a question, and provides an answer to justify
the purchase.

“SNAP! CRACKLE! POP!”

Kellogg's Rice Crispies

Most people know Snap! Crackle! and Pop! as the brand's
cartoon mascots, but do you know where the names came
from? The brand's slogan 'Snap! Crackle! Popl' actually
refers to the sounds people here when the breakfast
cereal reacts with the milk in the bowl.

“MELT IN YOUR MOUTH, NOT IN
YOUR HAND“

M&M's

Mars came up with this slogan for its M&M chocolates back
in 1967, and it is still popular today. It highlighted the unique
sugar coating which stopped the chocolates melting in your
hand, but also played on how they are so delicious that
they won't be in your hand for long enough!

“I'M LOVIN' IT”

McDonald's

Created by ad agency Heye & Partner in 2003, this line
was actually part of a jingle in one of McDonald's
advertising campaigns, but the memorable line has stuck
with the brand and has become a popular slogan
worldwide. Besides, who doesn't love McDonalds?

“HAVE A BREAK, HAVE AKIT KAT”

Kit Kat

The meaning of this popular slogan is actually two-fold. Not
only do you physically 'break' the fingers of the chocolate
bar's unique design apart, but the slogan also refers to the
fact that the product is the perfect snack for when you
take a break, as it's so simple to consume.

“EAT FRESH”

Subway

As fast food is notoriously bad for you, Subway has used
this slogan in a bid to position themselves as a healthier
brand. The slogan lets consumers know, in one simple
tagline, that only fresh ingredients are used, and their
sandwiches and fillings are always freshly prepared.

“THE CAPITALIST TOOL”

Forbes

Forbes is hugely popular amongst capitalists as it provides
up to date information on investing and trading. Their
slogan highlights the fact that it is "the" tool for them, and
the only one that they will require. Forbes also own a
company plane named ‘The Capitalist Tool' tool.

HARLEY-DAVIDSON

“AMERICAN BY BIRTH, REBEL
BY CHOICE”

Harley Davidson

While the Harley Davidson brand was founded in America
and created products that were went against the norm,
this slogan also speaks volumes about the target audience.
Many of the customers are also proud to be American, and
are rebellious in nature and in their beliefs!

“Feeling The Fever?”

Marketing Fever 2016

This came by the colaboration of all the students
of the 2nd International Marketing Congress.
